Major key to success with bipolar disorder.

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, I hope you are doing well. Last night was the first night I went
to bed before 11:00pm. What a difference
it makes J. Instead of going
to bed at like 2:00am every night.

Anyway, I was looking over past emails and
responses to them, and figured out
that the biggest one was about being
high-functioning – that the survivor
wants to be high-functioning, and
that the supporter wants their loved
one to be high-functioning.

So today I want to talk about one
area associated with that, since it’s
such a hot topic.

I want to talk to you about one way
supporters can help your loved one
to be high-functioning, but also how
the survivor can become high-
functioning as well – I”ll be talking
to both of you.

Here it is:
You both need to focus on what you
want, and NOT on what you DON’T
want.

Too many of you focus on what you
DON’T want and never focus on what
you DO want, and this is a HUGE
mistake.

It has to do with your attitude, for
sure, but it also has to do with your
FOCUS.

Your attitude and your FOCUS.
Both things about which I teach in
my courses, but parts of which I can
talk to you about today:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

If you focus on what you DON’T
want, you will be “spinning your
wheels.” You will get nowhere.
It may even make you fight with
each other.

You will certainly be focusing on
the most negative aspects of the
disorder.

But you can CHOOSE to focus
yourselves on the positive side
of the disorder.

Here’s one way:

You can make yourselves a list.
On one side, put all the things you
don’t want. For instance, you
don’t want to fight. Or you don’t
want to go into an episode.

Then on the other side, put all the
things you DO want. For example,
you DO want stability, and you DO
want less episodes, and you DO
want to be high-functioning.

Well, part of being high-functioning
is to be focused. Pick a goal, and
work toward that goal. For instance,
if your goal is to have less episodes,
you have to de-stress your life.

So you make a list of ways you can
de-stress your life, and you set forth
to do exactly that, checking off things
as you go. It may mean switching
jobs. It may mean working from home.
It may even mean starting a home business.
Whatever it takes to de-stress your life.

The main thing is that you have the
POWER to change your life. You
have the ability, especially if you both
work together toward a common goal, to
be stable, to have less episodes, and
to be high-functioning.

As long as you stay focused on the
goal. As long as you work together.

And as long as you work toward what
You want, and not what you don’t want.

Hey, I have to run and head off to the library.

Catch you tomorrow.

Your friend,

Dave

Bipolar Lesson From Breast Implants, HGH, Makeovers

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? Hope you are doing well. I actually spent a lot of my weekend learning
about MP3, MP4 and a bunch of other terms
I can’t even remember.

It’s because I am going to start posting
videos of various things. One of the
first ones is going to be a video of
the 10 deadly mistakes people supporting
someone with bipolar disorder make.

Oh speaking of making things, I made
two new podcasts for bipolar disorder
you can hear for f.ree.

They are about 20 minutes each. I couldn’t
get it any shorter.

The first one is

-Oil and Bipolar Disorder

-Discover the shocking reason what oil
has to do with bipolar disorder

How my mom made tens of thousands of dollars
over the last couple of years.

Hear them for F.ree by going here:
http://bipolarcentral.libsyn.com/

Okay, I have an important bipolar disorder
lesson for you today.

In was in one of my gyms the other
day. One I don’t go to too often.

A woman that I haven’t seen in a while
that I am friends with came up to me
and pointed to this lady in the
gym and said, “Man, look at her, too
bad she is married, she would make
a great girlfriend, huh?”

Then the woman went on to say how
this woman looks incredible and how
she wanted to look like that lady.

She went on to say that she doesn’t
think she is good looking at all
and tries so hard to look like
the woman in the gym she thinks is
good looking.

She was like “that lady looks incredible
and she is 42 years old”. I asked how
she knew. She said, “I asked her?”
She then went on to say how she asked
the woman for advice and the woman told
her about her diet and what her workout
was.

You could tell my friend was kind of jealous
and mad at the fact that she didn’t look
like that. My friend looks fine. She is
in good shape. BUT she doesn’t look
like the woman she is comparing herself
to.

Then my friend went on to say, “I wish
my husband found my sexier. I just need
to look better.”

In my head I started to feel uncomfortable
when she started talking about feeling
sexier, her husband and this that
and the other thing. I was just trying
to do my cardio and remember what kinds
of mp3, 4, 5 and whatever go with
what kind of video players.

I was amazed the woman was so worked up
about the entire thing.

She went on and on and on about it
and talked about the woman’s “boobs”
(and she used that word) were “perfect.”

She talked about how low her
body fat was how she was so defined.
How when she walks through the gym,
people stare at her.

I listened and I was still trying
to think what video players went to
which video formats from my early
conversation with my other friend 🙂

But I was paying attention….really.

Anyway, the woman said, “Dave, you should
give me some more tips on what I can do?”

Then it hit me, the woman really didn’t
know the secret to this lady’s looks.

So I turned to her and said, “want
to know the secret to her success?”

My friend was like, “Yes, let me get
a pad and pen.” I was like, “you won’t
need one, it will be real easy to
remember.”

I said, “all you need is about $20,000.”

She looked at me like I was insane. I said
to her, that woman:

-Has Breast Implants (it’s really obvious)
-Is taking HGH (like a celebrity fountain
of youth supplement that is suppose to be for
only certain people with medical conditions)
-Has had a serious expensive makeover
-Gets the entire package done all the time,
tanning, nails, dyed hair, and other
woman stuff that I forget what it’s called,
EVERY week.

How do I know, well a) you can look at
her and tell and b) it’s widely known
when you are in a group of body builders.

NOTE-
I am not saying whether or not these things
are bad, please don’t write that you are offended
about my comments about breast implants. This
is not the point of the story so save all
the hate mail. Thanks 🙂

The lady was shocked. I then pointed
to a guy in the gym and said, “what do
you think of him?” She said, “he is in
great shape and really big.” I said, “he
on massive steroids.” She was shocked
she thought it was from working out hard.

So I said, if you want to do something
illegal by getting HGH when you aren’t
suppose to, get the best breast implants
and all the other stuff, with a diet and
exercise, you can look just like her.

But you could die early. She then got
it and said she felt dumb for trying
to keep up with a fake person. Let’s
face it, the woman she was comparing
herself too is almost not even real.

I have seen the real her or the old
her and she looks worse than my friend
looks. It’s all so strange.

I then told her what a normal person
would look like so she could bench
mark herself.

It was really amazing. If you go to
the gym, you probably know the kinds of people
I am talking about.

What the heck does this have to do with
bipolar disorder?

Absolutely nothing.

Just kidding there is an important lesson to
be learned.

The other day I got this note that said,

“Dave,

My life is a wreck. My wife has bipolar
disorder and she isn’t getting any better.
She has destroyed everything in our lives.
So far it’s been 6 months and she still
yells and screams. It’s amazing how your
mom turned around so fast. Maybe my
wife is worse than your mom. I wish
I knew what to do. I didn’t get a chance
to go through your course yet. I hope
the answers are in there.”
–Dan

I actually tried to call Dan because he
is way off track. Dan if you are reading
this, fill out the f.ree consultation form
that comes with the course for non medical
and non legal questions and send it to
my asap so I can call you.

Here’s the deal. It took my mom I think 9 months
to become stable. 9 months.

It took her 3.5 years to pay off her
d.ebt. It took 90 days to get her into
treatment. She stayed in the hospital
for 2 weeks and the outpatient program
3 months.

It took a long time.

For some reason, Dan missed this. I am
not sure why. But I want to make it clear
it took a long time.

You should not compare yourself to an illusion
like my friend in the gym was doing. Dan is
comparing his wife to an illusion of my
mom. He is feeling bad because his wife
isn’t stable and it’s only been six months.
He thinks his wife is slow or behind. It’s not
true.

And, Dan didn’t even go through my course
yet. Once he does that, things will speed
along anyway.

In my course/systems below:

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:

One of the first things that you hear is
the entire story of how long it took me
to get my mom into treatment and for her
to start doing well.

I put this in there so that people can
have a benchmark that is realistic and realize
that it took almost a year.

Many people come to me thinking it could take
a few days or weeks to get stable. It can
but in a super bad bipolar episode, it
can take much longer.

I have many people on my list that compare
themselves to other incorrectly. They think
other people are doing better when they are
not. Or they compare themselves to people
who had advantages. My mom didn’t have one
advantage which is me. She had a son that
was willing and able to take off work
for a long time.

But on the flip side anyone with either
bipolar disorder or supporting someone
can get an advantage of getting my course/systems
and shortcutting the learning curve.

By the way, I know people will write and
ask, “no, I don’t do steroids and I never
have. I think they are too dangerous.”

Actually one more thing, cosmetic surgery
is so out of control I know GUYS that have
chin/jaw jobs, calf implants, bicep implants
(yes the thing attached to people’s legs). It’s
really funny.

Well I have to run. I will catch you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

Dave

Perfection and bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

I hope you’re doing ok.

Today I want to talk to you about this
email I got:

Dear Dave:
My husband has bipolar disorder, and
usually he does ok, it’s just that it’s
been awhile, and I thought that by now
he’d be doing much better than he is,
ya know? I mean, he’s been on his
medication, and he’s been taking it
right and everything, but he is still
having episodes once in a while.
They’re not as often as they were
before, and they’re not as bad, but
I thought that once he got on the right
medication that he’d be ok, Why is he
still having episodes?

——————————————–

Wow! I know where this lady is
coming from, because you wouldn’t
believe how many emails I get that say
the very same thing.

There are a lot of supporters (and
just as many survivors) who think that
once their loved one is on the right
medication, that’s all there is to it!
That their loved one will never go
into an episode again.

Maybe you think that way, too. So
I want you to know how wrong that
thinking is. It is unrealistic to think
that way.

Yes, medication is the core ingredient
to getting better with bipolar disorder.
As well as therapy, support groups,
and everything else that goes in your
loved one’s “bipolar toolbox” to help
them to be stable.

But no one should be telling you
that your loved one will never have
another episode, because that is just
not true. No doctor should tell you
that, and no therapist either. And you
should not assume that, because it
just isn’t true.

In my courses, I teach about the core
ingredients necessary for stability,
and yes, medication is one of them,
but it isn’t a magic cure to never have
another episode ever again:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

No matter how compliant your loved
one is with their medication, no matter how
well they follow their treatment plan, no
matter how many years they have gone
without an episode, you still have to keep
up your guard, because they can still have
an episode at any time.

You can’t expect perfection from your
loved one, any more than you would want
them to expect perfection from you.

All that they (and you) can do is your best.
Remember: “Hope for the best, while
being prepared for the worst.”

Murder, violence and bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Okay, I have something sad to talk about today
but I have to.

I am not sure if you heard but there
was a person who killed a bunch of people.

Foxnews reported…
“Carrying a shotgun in a guitar case and at
least one handgun registered to him, former
sociology graduate student Steven Kazmierczak,
27, kicked through a side door to the 200-capacity
Cole Hall, walked in quickly and began firing at
students and the teacher.”

For the entire story, read this…

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330792,00.html

Now it is not known right now if this person
had bipolar disorder but people are saying
this person was on medications and got off
them and started acting erratic.

I preach this over and over again. When people
with serious mental illnesses get off their
medications, bad things happen generally.

When you look at the bipolar disorder news
that I send out on Fridays every week,
you’ll see story after story about people
who have gotten off their medications
and done some really bad things.

People who live with people not on medication
or people with bipolar disorder who aren’t taking
medications think, “oh, violence won’t happen
to me.” If I had a dollar for every time I heard
this, I would be rich.

After I heard about this story, I saw this
shocking post on my blog which you should learn
from.

Take a look:

jerry said…
I have been living with my partner for about 5
years. He was dicnotes for bipolar. he got worse
where I had to call police many times. I took him
to the hospital, Phyciatrist. I got his medications
but they keep switching them. After a while he started
hitting me. On night he got BAD. He beat my head
agianst the wall and broke my foot. I got away from
him and ran to the bedroom.

I grabed a weapon to distance him from me. It was dark
in the room. He kept coming after me and ran into
the weapon (sharp). he is know passed. I miss him
soo. His family does’nt want anything to deal with
him and never did. I was his only support. now I am
dealing with Manslaughter. I have not yet been covited
yet. I am out on bail.

My family and freinds have seen his violence.
Pleas Help!! I have no records or even had a
parking ticket. I wish the couart system would start
understand how dangerious this illness is. It was
not either our falt he was ill. I still Love him
and can’t get over it……….Agian Please help
get the word out. Thank you for listening. Jerry

And Then Jerry Said…

jerry said…
Good Morning! I posted a comment a few days ago
about my inccedent. I would like to know I anyone
has delt with a manic deppresive person that is
dangerous. (Like hittining, or throwing things
or tried to hurt you). I have but would never
hurt him. I would let the incedent pass or go to
another room in the house. Please let me know you
delema. It is greatly apriciative.
Thank you, Jerry

=========================

Jerry, I am really sorry to hear this. Please
get as good as a lawyer as you can. I am NOT
an attorney and can’t offer any legal advice.

I can just say, get a good lawyer and explain
to him/her what bipolar disorder is so they
are clear.

Also, here’s what I have found. When a person
with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder
and schizophrenia goes off their medication,
I have seen people do horrible things that
they never would do if they had the right
treatment plan.

When I say the wrong treatment plan,
I mean in this case–not taking medication.

Why do I say it like that? Well I say
it like that because some people with
these disorders believe that not
taking medication is the right way
to treat the disorder.

NOTE
I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer
and NOT offering medical or legal advice.
NOTHING I write should be taken as medical,
or legal advice.

At the core of incorrect treatment is
a person not taking medication. I have
personally seen people who go off their
medications do all kinds of things that are
really bad. I have seen it in support
group meetings.

I have seen it on a college campus.

I have seen it in various towns
and cities.

You have to be really careful when a person
is not on medications when they have a serious
disorder like bipolar disorder. And if you
have bipolar disorder and you are not taking
your medications, you are at risk of doing
something really bad.

In my courses/systems below, virtually all
success stories talk about what happened
when medications were not taken or they
were not correct.

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

The foundation to all success in the interviews
in the courses/systems above is taking
medication. Bipolar medications make life
better for the person with bipolar disorder
AND the supporter. Period.

If you are not taking your medications, go to
the doctor and get back on them.

If you loved one is not taking medications,
realize he/she could do something really bad
and your goal should be to help them get
back on their medications and feel comfortable
doing so.

You don’t know how many people I speak to
that are supporting loved ones who are not
taking their medication and I warn them to
watch out, be careful, etc. They all say,
“oh my loved one would never get as bad
as your mom got.”

Then they wind up calling me back in like 6
to 12 months with a horror story.

I know if you are a bipolar supporter, supporting
an adult with bipolar disorder, you might be thinking,
“yea, Dave, it’s easy for you to say but it’s hard
to get someone into treatment.”

You are right, remember I had the same problem as
well.

This is why in my supporter course for adults
I talk about 21 ways to get a loved one into
treatment with involuntary commitment.

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

I had to use some of the strategies myself over the
years of helping my mom.

I know I will get a ton of hate mail from people
saying that I push medications on people and
I am part of a drug company or something like
this. Or that I own millions of dollars of drug
stocks and I want more people on medications
so I make more money with my stocks.

Or people will write me hate mail that I am
afraid of people with a mental illness because
my mom has one.

Please allow me to address both forms
of hate mail I will get.

#1. I am not part of a drug company. I also
don’t own millions of dollars of drug stocks
and I am NOT trying to raise the price of the
stocks by writing emails like this.

Some might look at what I wrote and think
it’s crazy. It’s not. You would be shocked
how many people call/write/email me that
they think that I am making money with drug
stocks that’s why I talk about medication
and bipolar disorder.

#2. I am not afraid of people with a mental
illness. More than 70% of the people who
work for me in this organization have at
least one mental illness. One has 7 in addiction
to being a recovering drug addict and alcoholic.

Is this crazy? NO, this person is stable AND
no longer drinking and taking drugs. The person
is a model worker and does great!

Anyway, the people who work for me read what
I write and are not offended by what I say.

I tell you about medications and bipolar disorder
so you don’t have what happen to Jerry happen
to you OR you don’t wind up doing something like
Steven did which I am sure he never would have
done under normal circumstances if he was on
his medications.

Now, I know that it is not known if the
person who killed a bunch of people had
bipolar disorder, BUT, what is known
is he was on medication for something.
That something obviously made him violent.
Generally that falls into a few mental illnesses.

Please don’t write about debating what he had
and let’s just learn a lesson of the importance
of medication for bipolar disorder.

One last comment. There is a person who works for
me named Michele. She has bipolar disorder. Michele
sister had bipolar disorder. She created a multi million
dollar business from scratch. She was a nice
person. She went off her medications. She told
everyone in the family she was feeling great.
Over time she started to get worse. 8 months
later, one day, she went to the bank, then
to the grocery store to do some shopping.

Then she went home from the store, grabbed
a gun and shot herself dead. There was no note.
She did not “put her affairs in order.” There
was no indication that she was planning it.
Who goes to the bank and store and then
shoots themselves?

It was totally a random act because she
was not on medication.

Please learn from these stories.

Your Friend,

Dave

The Good From The Bad Of Bipolar Disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, Hope you’re doing ok. Today I want to talk about something
we don’t usually think about, and that’s
the GOOD that can come out of a bipolar
episode.

I know, you’re probably sitting there
right now thinking, “Dave’s really lost
his mind this time!” But really, it’s
true! There are some good things
that can come out of a bipolar episode.

You just have to look at it objectively,
which I know, I know, it is really hard
to do, but try it with me.

Ok, let’s think about this as if you
were someone else looking in on your
situation. They might see two people,
one of which is really sick. And they
would see one of those people (the
supporter) trying to help the other
person. Well, that’s an admirable
thing, isn’t it? A positive thing?

Ok, see where I’m headed with this
thing? So, let’s try to think of a few
more examples.

A bipolar episode is a very heavy
thing, and can sometimes go on for
some time. So, by having to “live
it,” it can bring people together closer
together, just by having to “fight it
out” together, by having to depend on
each other.

A bipolar episode can also “weed
out” bad friends – it’s a time when
you really find out who your real
friends are, isn’t it? You find out
who you can really depend on, instead
of just “fair-weather” friends who say
they’ll be there for you, but aren’t
there when it comes down to it.

In my courses and systems, I talk
about how one good thing about a
bipolar episode is how it can force you
to get more serious about your
treatment, so that’s another good thing:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

http://www.survivebipolar.net

Another good thing about a bipolar
episode is that it can show you where
your treatment is failing you – it can
help you see where maybe your
medication needs to be adjusted, and
maybe you weren’t seeing that before.

Mostly, what I’m trying to get you to
see is that you can either have a
negative view or a positive view toward
the bipolar episode. Having a positive
view, you can make the episode work
FOR you, by examining it, and trying to
look for the good points to it.

Face it, the episode may happen no
matter what you do to try to stop it.
You may as well put a positive spin to
it. This is one way you can master the
disorder instead of it mastering you,
which is another thing I teach in my
courses.

Do you think I am out of my mind?

Info on me and lessons on bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Boy I sure am tired.

Yesterday was a total disaster of a day.

First it started with a guy that I think
is a bipolar supporter. He figured out to
send me an email personally. The email
was in summary like, “hey, I caught
you. You have another business. Did your
mom really have bipolar?”

I get sooo annoyed when I get messages like this.
I don’t know why it annoys me when people
ask if my mom has bipolar disorder. I guess
when I get an email from a bipolar supporter
you would expect more and not something
that makes totally no sense.

I actually forwarded the email to my mom
and told her, “see the kind of things
I have to read.”

My mom actually wrote back and asked if
I wanted to type up a letter to send
to him saying she really has bipolar
disorder.

I told her no that’s okay 🙂

Then I wrote my mom back and said, “Mom,
notice he asked if you had bipolar disorder?”

He is suggesting that you either were cured (there
is NOT cure for bipolar disorder) or you lost
your bipolar disorder some who.

She wrote back that what I was saying was funny
and I should ignore emails like that one. She
asked, “why do you even read those things you
know they will make you mad?”

Good question? I don’t know. But starting
today I am not going to anymore. If I get
emails that question whether the entire story
I write about is true, whether my mom has
bipolar disorder, whether the world is round,
etc. I am not going to even respond.

So anyway, I did write the guy back first
saying my mom HAS and his email suggested
she HAD it which is not correct.

Then the guy basically asked why I am marketing
my material? Isn’t that an odd question. Why would
I have to let people know

He found out that I have a business that I have
to market as well. This is NO secret. I have 3
businesses that have been around for a while and
guess what? I market them all. I have to or
they will go out of business. It was amazing
to me how much time this person must have
spent trying to research me instead of helping
his loved one with bipolar disorder.

It’s really weird when supporters go off
and do non important research projects.

Back in the day, I use to do the same thing.
Before I knew what my mom had and she was
screaming and yelling at me, instead of figuring
out why she was screaming and yelling at me,
it would be time to fix my computer. That
was a good way for me to keep busy and not
focus on what was most pressing–which was
why mom was screaming and yelling at random.

I find that many bipolar supporters find themselves
unable to deal with bipolar disorder so they start
to do “crazy things.”

-Vanish/hide

-Fix stuff that really doesn’t need to be fixed
when a person is in a bipolar episode

-Attack everyone around them instead of focusing
on getting their loved one into treatment

-Attacking the mental health system and placing
ALL blame for their loved one’s condition on it
instead of anything else.

The last thing done, I find so many times. People
call me all mad at this hospital and that
doctor. They want to go down and yell at the
doctor. Get on Cnn and expose this doctor or
that doctor. Do this that and the other thing
and they want my “help.” I always say the
same thing, “how is that going to help your
loved one with bipolar that is doing really
poorly right now?”

The bipolar supporter gets quiet and says, “well
I guess it’s not. You are right.”

Speaking of exposing that person that wrote me
yesterday also wrote something about “exposing
me.”

I think he is going to “expose” something that I have
already exposed on myself many times–I have three
businesses. One of them is in consulting for hedge
funds, private equity funds and investment banks
that invest in direct sales companies.

If you have been on my list for a while you know
I have told you this so many times you are probably
sick and tired of hearing it.

I don’t get into explaining the other businesses
because it’s not important and it’s kind of confusing.
One involves salons and spas but I don’t own a salon
or spa but why should I waste your time explaining
stuff that has nothing to do with bipolar disorder
or any kind of lesson. The other business is in the health
field. Obviously if people look really, really hard
and spend a lot of time, they can figure it out.

If you met me personally and asked, I would tell you.
I have told many people I have spoken to on the phone.
I guess it annoys me that someone thinks the figured
something out that I am not hiding in the first place.

Anyway, let me ask you, do you think it’s wrong
for bipolar supporters to attack people who are
trying to help those with bipolar disorder?

The lessons you should take away are the following.

If you are a bipolar supporter:

Don’t attack those that are trying to help you

Remember to focus on helping your loved one not
get side tracked doing “busy work.”

Don’t spend too much time looking for someone outside
yourself as the cause of your loved one’s situation.
Meaning forget, spending weeks getting mad at doctors,
hospitals, therapists, this person or that person. And forget
trying to get even with them. You don’t know how many people
call and want to start a protest against this person and that
person and it’s a gigantic waste of time. Especially when
a loved one is not doing well with bipolar disorder. First
things first.

One other thing this person asked me via email was
“Again what are you really about?”

I really don’t know what that means but I will take
it to mean, “do you really want to help people are you
are horrible human being that is taking advantage of people
that are down and out.”

First, when it comes to those with bipolar disorder,
you can’t take advantage of them. People think that
people with bipolar disorder are not smart. They
are really smart. That’s why I have hired the people
from my list and have 9 people who work for me with
bipolar disorder.

Second, am I taking advantage of supporters in
some way? No. I actually think that I am being
taken advantage of. I get phone calls all
day and all night. I have to respond to emails,
letters. I do a ton of stuff.

In my courses/systems below that I put
together:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

You’ll notice how much work has been put
into them. I must say, when I look back at
the amount of time and effort that I put
in to the information above, I am amazed. I put
in a ton.

I am really happy to. Not because I am selling
these materials. It’s because I like knowing that
someone can get so much information from one spot
and they don’t have to spend forever figuring it
out or spend the money that I did to find it out.

It’s like one stop shop. Sounds like a lot of work
but I like it.

Actually, I love doing what I do and that’s why
I work hard at it. I don’t know why exactly but
I really like being in this field so to speak
even though I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer
or professional.

Also note, I am NOT offering medical or legal
advice and none of my information should be used
to diagnose, treat or prevent and illness, disease
or disorder.

With that said, there’s a reason that I have
over 5000 maybe even 6000 testimonials.

You can see SOME of them here:
http://www.bipolarcentral.com/testimonials

I really appreciate all the kind words people
have said about me.

Like I said, I do put in a ton of work. I don’t
think people even can begin to realize how
much work it takes to keep this going and
expand it. There are now more than 20 people
involved and different departments like
customer service, content, finance, information
technology (just hired someone with bipolar
in this department), and other departments.

When I get emails like I got yesterday I sometimes
tell the people who work for me and they get mad
at me and say I need to

a) not take these things personally

b) not read them

c) not respond to them

I really have to start doing this. Actually
starting today, I will no longer respond to
these types of things and focus on responding
to posts that with help large numbers of people.

Sorry for the long email today. I was kind of annoyed
about what I read.

Here’s the thing. Like I said, I have 3 businesses.
In these three businesses I never get:

-Attacked
-Death threats
-People attacking my character
-People questioning my motives

I know these are small percentages but it’s
annoying sometimes.

I guess the final lesson for today is, when
you are dealing with bipolar disorder, don’t
take stuff personally. It’s easy to say but
hard to practice. Just try.

You know what? All the thought I put
into this was a waste of time 🙂

Shame on me 🙂

Hey I have to run.

Bipolar Lessons From Yesterday’s Meeting

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I wanted to let you know, I will
be posting a f.ree interview that I did
on bipolar disorder. It’s one of my
best interviews ever.

It’s almost 2 hours long. It will be
posted online for you to listen. I need
about a week to get it all ready to
go for you.

Well yesterday I went to that meeting.

I actually took this short cut and it
turned into a long cut. You won’t believe
this but I was driving towards New York
which is east of me. Then all of a sudden
I was almost back where I lived some
how taking all these shortcuts and
“back roads.”

Needless to say, I was 45 minutes
late 🙂 But the meeting started
late.

Where did I go? I went to a big
conference with successful business
people.

It was really interesting. At lunch
I sat down next to a very big guy. He
was taller and bigger than me. Not out
of shape just big.

He asked what I did. At this particular
meeting, I told everyone about my mental
health organization. I usually only pick
one thing to talk about. If you tell
someone you have 4 different businesses,
they will think you are insane.

So he asked a whole bunch of questions
about bipolar disorder and borderline personality
disorder.

I told him how my mom thinks she has borderline
personality disorder as well and so does
her therapist but her doctor doesn’t want
her to have another label so the doctor has
the final say and the therapist respects that.

So far, the doctor’s plan is working just fine.
Anyway, did you know what? I mentioned this
before a few months back. I don’t make a big
deal about it.

Michele Soloway has bipolar AND borderline
personality disorder as well as one other
person that works for me I think.

Anyway, this big business guy who had a financial
services business, said, “I was married to a
woman for 29 years with borderline personality
disorder and maybe bipolar disorder.”

He told me how he lived in fear an called
it “29 years of hell on earth.” He told
me how hard it was to deal with her, how
erratic it was. How he tried everything
to help her and how she basically destroyed
the family for much of those 29 years.

I explained what happen with my family
and how my mom wasn’t well a whole lot of
time.

He then asked if there were really any
ways to help people like his ex wife.
I told him yes. I told him all I knew
for the person with borderline and bipolar
disorder. What the keys were. I also
indicated that I was not a doctor, therapist,
attorney, or other kind of professional.

He was amazed that I had put the entire organization
together that helps people with these illnesses,
both supporters and survivors,
and was further amazed that I had
not only my mom working for me but other people
with a mental illnesses. He said he knew
many people who did as well.

One thing I told him about is the concept
of “standing up to bipolar disorder.” Or
in his case it would have been standing up
to both bipolar and borderline. I told him
how appeasement doesn’t work.

He said that he didn’t think it’s possibly.
I told him that if you don’t you end up
with years and decades of misery.

That’s what happen to my dad.

What’s the stand up to bipolar disorder
concept? It’s basically you set up
boundaries and you don’t allow the person
with bipolar disorder to cross these boundaries.

It’s also pushing in every legal way possibly
to get a person into treatment.

If that fails, and you are being abused as a supporter
like this person was, I recommend you leave the person.

I never endorse living with someone for decades
and they refuse treatment and they wind up
hitting you and hurting you. I know many people
who end up like this. Those that are like
this justify it for the following reasons:

their religion frowns down on divorce
-I don’t know of any religions that would
really want you to stay with someone that is so
out of control they hit you.

they have kids
-Even if you have kids, if you live
with someone way out of control for 5, 10,
20 years and just stay, your kids will be
negatively affected. Just think about
my brother and why he is the way he
is.

they don’t think it’s right to abandon someone
-I don’t either. BUT, if you exhaust 25
ways to try to get someone in treatment over a
few years, you can reasonably say that you did
all that you could. I seriously would have tried
for probably 3 years to get my mom into treatment
trying each method I knew one by one plus others
I learned but I would have given up after 25
to 30 different techniques and 3 years.

Remember you have to draw the line somewhere.
If you don’t figure out what you will not
accept you wind up having no line and
things get worse and worse and worse. Before
you know it, you have no life and bipolar
disorder has taken over and you are like
prisoner.

The guy that I spoke to yesterday, drew the line
after 29 years. That’s a long time. That’s
probably more than half his life kind of wasted.

In my mind, I believe in, try EVERYTHING that
you can do to help someone with bipolar disorder
that’s legal. Try for a while.

Get materials like mine if you can

Or you can go to many support groups, find other
successful people dealing with bipolar disorder,
talk to doctors and therapists. Try what they
say to help a loved one and then after years and
years of trying various strategies and tactics
might be time to leave.

Do you think that I am too harsh?

Bipolar disorder lesson continued from yesterday

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Thanks for all the emails from everyone
happy that I was okay from my almost
car crash last night.

I have to go to New York City today
for a meeting that will last all
day.

A bunch of people wrote how
they felt that thinking about
something bad happen was negative.

It is negative but what is more
negative is NOT planning and
then a total night mare happening.

I have to make this really quick
because it’s a long drive there
and there will probably be traffic.

Before I left, I wanted to point out
a post on my blog which is a good
idea for everyone to follow:

candismalli said…

I was in an accident a year and a half ago
that I had to be taken to a major hospital
by helicopter. I am bipolar, and my girls are
also.

When we were being initially treated by
E.M.T.s I was frantic to have someone write
down their meds, and doses. (One of my daughters
went toxic on lithium because of a mistake before
this).

They wanted me to calm down, and knew my
hubbie was on his way, and said they would get
that from him, they were more worried about me,
the girls were just bruised. I freaked because
I knew that only I knew the info, and he wouldn’t
even know where to start. I got someone to write
it down finally, but started to go into shock,
and had a hard time remembering my own meds.

I now have binders, one for each of us with
phone #’s, med names, doses, even ones previously
taken and didn’t work, or bad reaction. Recent
bloodwork, dr notes, diagnoses, allergies,
physicals, etc. I take it with me for dr visits,
and it makes my life easier, and gives me piece
of mind for in case of emergency.

This is a great suggestion. You should do

Bipolar Lesson From My Almost Big Car Accident Last Night

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I hope you are doing well.

Sadly, there’s a chance that you
might not have gotten my message today.

Why? Well last night I almost got
into a huge car accident late last
night.

I have an important lesson about
bipolar disorder to tell you about
in reference to what happen to me.

If you will remember, yesterday,
I sent you a daily email and indicated
that it was snowing.

Well it stopped last night. I was
over my friend’s house but it started
kind of again and then stopped.

I don’t really understand what happen
but basically the roads were super wet
and then they started to freeze.

I think the people that put salt (which
is used to break up the ice), on the
road got a late start.

As I was driving home, I saw horror.

There was one guy that drove down into
someone’s front yard about 30 feet. His
car was turned over.

Then on the highway, when I looked at
the other side of traffic, there was
accident after accident. People were
smashed through guard rails.

I was really confused because you could
NOT see anything on the road.

BIPOLAR LESSON COMING HANG ON

I think the people on my side of the
highway were thinking what I was thinking
which was, “Why is everyone crashing, what’s
going on, I better go slower.”

But then stupid people started driving really
fast behind me almost forcing you to go
faster. I was starting to get nervous.

Then, I started see big accidents on the road. I
saw a car and truck had a head on collision
some how.

Then I saw a bunch of cars that were all
stopped because they were in a massive
accident.

Then I was driving over a bridge and I started
to swerve.

Then it happen.

I was driving along and bang.

The back of my car started to go in front
of my car. It’s hard to explain but basically
my back, was going forward and I was pointed
backwards.

Then I turned the wheel and then the back started
to go back to the back but I went from the far right
lane into the far left lane and then to the middle.

I had no control of the car really. Then there
were cars in front of me that I could see
were doing the same. We all must have hit
some kind of black ice.

It’s really odd, I thought for sure I would
get into a huge accident. This is
seriously what I was thinking:

I wonder what will happen if I don’t send
my bipolar daily email?

I hope Andrea and Pascale can handle everything
if I get into a major accident and I am in the
hospital.

I wonder if I have all the right paper work in
place for them

“Oh, Darn, I forgot to sign that one form for
them if something happens to me.”

I know that might sound weird but basically
all my other companies can run without me
except this one because it’s newer and grows
really fast.

I have been working hard to make this happen
but kind of putting off some stuff.

Well anyway, after almost going off into a
guard rail which was over a cliff off of
Route 80 Eastbound, I finally was able
to stabilize the car.

I thought about pulling over and sleeping
on the side of the road but I heard rumors
how people get murdered when that happens.

So then I just got in the far left lane and
drove super slow, slow enough that if I crashed
I hopefully wouldn’t get killed.

It was really scary.

So I came home and immediately emailed
this consultant that helps with what’s called
business transition and business succession.

He helps people get a business together so
if the owner is hurt or dies. I emailed him
this story and said that I want to get
his consulting immediately 🙂

I have been putting it off because well
I just have been. But it’s important.

What the heck does this have to do with
bipolar disorder?

Well, with bipolar you have to plan for
the worst and hope for the best.

If you have bipolar disorder

Who will pay my bills if I go into an episode

Where is a list of my bills and c.redit cards
(with my mom, it took days to figure all this
out working 15 hours a day)

If I have bipolar disorder and run a business,
who will take over, how will it be done if I go
into an episode. Do you know how many people
that I know that have bipolar disorder, had a
big great business and lost it from an episode?
A ton. I don’t have any info but you should
start researching if this is you.

If you are a bipolar supporter

If you loved one is in your business or
has to make decisions for you, what’s
your plan if he/she goes into an episode?
You need one.

NOTE
The person with bipolar should have a release
signed for the supporter to talk to the therapist,
doctor, etc.

Also, if you have bipolar disorder, and this is
going to amaze you, you should have a release
so your therapist AND bipolar doctor can talk
to your non bipolar doctors (your primary care
physician for example)

There’s a lot of stuff to think about. It’s
rather negative but it has to be done.

In my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

I cover a ton of the forms you have to have
filled out and signed so that it’s easy in
case a bipolar episode strikes.

I know many people with my courses/systems
skip this part. They tell me, “oh yea, I will
get to that later on.” A year goes by and
they never do. I URGE you to do it right away.

One major bipolar episode, like one major
car accident, can destroy a whole lot of stuff
that took years to develop. Don’t let it happen
to you.

I am immediately going to be working on this
based on what almost happen to me last night.

Hey, I have to run, catch you later.
