Bipolar Lesson from strange thing

Hi,

How’s it going? Hope you are doing really well and have a great day today.

I wanted to tell you about this important lesson I learned.

You may not remember but I actually body build NON competitively. That means I don’t do contents, get on stage, and I do it as a hobby.

I do most of all the stuff people who compete do except get on stage and take steroids. I don’t take any steroids and everything I do is natural.

Anyway, I hang out with a number of people who do the same thing.

For me, since I am really busy, I have not learned how to cook well. I don’t use spices — only pepper and maybe some stuff that has a lot of things in it that are spicy with no salt. I forget what it’s called and I want to get this daily email done without any further delay.

I met a lady in the gym who suggested to spice up my meatloaf (which is basically glorified ground turkey in a pan LOL) I should add onions and it would taste better, she said. She also suggested I add an onion to the gigantic amount of green beans that I eat  every week. Or two onions.

(NOTE-I am truly the WORST cook. Period)

Other than it making me cry a lot when I was cutting it, I thought no big deal.

However one friend of mine warned, “Dude, onions will mess you up.”

So after a few weeks of thinking about it, I decided to try it.

BUT, you know me, I track stuff. So I was getting prepared to track how I felt, looked, thought, energy level, etc.

After two weeks, something amazing happened! The onions did start to smooth me out, which essentially means that it makes you look less tight.

There was only one variable I changed in my eating plan–onions.

Now you might think, “No way.”

Here’s the thing. When I took it out of my eating plan, the smoothness went away in a week. Amazing!

What the heck does this have to do with bipolar disorder? You’re probably thinking.

Absolutely nothing. I gotta go.

LOL just kidding. It does.

In my courses/systems below:

I teach about how the smallest changes can make the biggest impact.

You do have to monitor the things you’re changing, though, like I said above, like I did.

Like you’re eating habits. Like in my courses /systems, like I was saying, I talk about how important diet is to your loved one’s treatment plan (and your own diet). Because just a small change can make you feel so much healthier. Now that sounds like a small thing, but it is very important.

And exercise. Another seemingly small thing, right? But just starting to exercise, or changing up your exercise routine, can make such a big difference, because it can lower your stress level, and that IS a big thing when it comes to bipolar disorder.

Especially for supporters, because you have to deal with so much stress just being a supporter, am I right?

Think about your sleep, too. Seems like another small thing, too. Especially for your loved one, because not enough sleep an be a trigger to a bipolar manic episode, and you definitely don’t want that, do you?

So my point is, like the onion (don’t laugh!), small changes can make a big difference!

It’s really true. It’s you and your loved one’s job to look at all the changes made to see what can adversely affect the bipolar disorder.

Don’t ever say, “oh that won’t matter, that can’t hurt.” It can. You just never know.

My mom can’t drink several drinks because of her bipolar disorder. Everyone else with bipolar disorder can drink the same stuff and not have any problems. Odd huh?

Ever happen to you or your loved one?

Where I got info on vitamins, herbs, alternative stuff and bipolar disorder

Hi,

How’s it going?

A bunch of people asked me about where I got the information on: “My Findings: Vitamins, Herbs, and Alternative Therapies for Treating Bipolar Disorder.” Here’s the deal. A while ago I decided that I had to find out about everything “nature” that had to do with bipolar disroder. Why? I got so many people asking questions. So I decided to go pay a doctor and research team to find out what was real and not real.

I went out and located a doctor who had a research staff and contracted with them to search all the places where credible studies and clinical trials that had been conducted on alternative therapies would be located. Places like…

==> The National Institute of Health

==> The National Institute of Mental Health

==> Life Sciences Journal

==> Journal of Psychological Medicine

==> Advanced Biological Psychiatry Journal

==> British Journal of Psychiatry

==> American Journal of Psychiatry

==> Journal of Affective Disorders

==> Archives of General Psychiatry

I had this doctor and his staff analyze all the studies and write a summary on those natural remedies, or treatments, that have scientific backing and support. That’s where I got my information from. Bipolar Lesson From Major Fire

Hi,

Hope you’re doing well today.

Hey I wanted to tell you that Pascale is okay after her surgery. Lots of people have asked how she is doing.

If you don’t know, Pascale was one of the key people that helped me get this all going. She was right with me from day one. She is

a behind the scenes person. She never on any calls, writes any thing, etc. She is just behind the scenes.

She doesn’t have any disorder or any family member with a disorder. She is a friend and decided when I started to help out.

Okay, I have some good news. The good news is, we are coming out with a ton of new stuff to help even more people cope and deal with bipolar disorder.

We are coming out with new videos, new podcasts, new articles, new reports, and new teleseminars.

Just keep reading these emails and you’ll get links to where you can get the material.

The reason is, I have hired some really, really, really, really good people recently.

I mean really good. Amazing people.

One particular person has accomplished in one month what I thought it would take six months. NO this person is not in a manic episode. They just are super smart and super organized.

I also have a new person on board that is doing some stuff to help me locally. This person is amazing and has saved me about 12 hours a week. That’s 12 extra hours that I can put into things like articles, videos, etc.

Anyway, let’s jump into today’s topic.

Guess what?

My ex-girlfriend, Jackie, had a major fire in her house.

She came home one day to a house that was half-burnt down!

They had been doing some contracting work on her roof and somehow the house caught on fire.

Anyway, when the fire trucks came, they used a whole lot of water to save the rest of the house.

Lots of stuff was damaged by both the fire AND the water!

Now, should the neighbors have stopped the water just to save Jackie’s house from the water damage?

Should Jackie have stopped the firemen from using the water to put out the fire just to save her house from the water damage to her house?

Of course not!

It’s like bipolar disorder.

Like the water damage being a side effect to putting out the fire…

Bipolar medication has its side effects, too – its just a result of having to take the medication.

But just like the water saved the fire which saved Jackie’s house, the bipolar medication saves your loved one’s life!

Now, I know I’ll probably get hate mail again (I usually do) because there I go getting on my soapbox again about how bipolar medication saves lives, and how if you don’t take it you might kill yourself, but it’s still true!

And I know people say I don’t understand, but I do!

In my courses/systems below, I talk about the side effects of bipolar medication, so, see? I do understand:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.survivebipolar.net

But, yes, I still do promote taking medication for bipolar disorder because yes, it can save your loved one’s life.

Just like the water saved Julie’s house.

Was it pleasant? No.

Was it necessary? Yes.

Is taking medication, even though it has side effects pleasant for your loved one (so they probably complain about it)? No.

Is it necessary to save their life? Yes.

So they do have to put up with the side effects, and you probably have to put up with their complaining about it.

And I know you probably don’t like that.

And I DO understand that. I had to do that, too, with my mother. But it still was better than losing her!

And it’s better for you, too, isn’t it? Better than losing your loved one?

So the next time they complain about having to take their medication, about the side effects, remember that it’s better than them losing their life from bipolar disorder!

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the better good.

Just like Julie and her house.

She had to sacrifice water damage to her house just so the firemen could put out the fire.

Your loved one may have to sacrifice having to have some side effects so the medication will help their bipolar disorder.

And you may have to sacrifice some complaints so that your loved one’s medication will help their bipolar disorder.

Well, I better go now. I have to head off to the gym because tonight I have to volunteer with this mental health organization.

Catch you tomorrow.

Truth about bipolar disorder and medication side effects

Hi,

How’s it going?

I hope you are doing really well and have a great day.

Yesterday I saw a lot of responses about my daily email about bipolar and the true cost of working with bad people.

I am going to write a daily email about all the advice I get and why I can’t listen to most of it.

I do however get VERY good advice from many people on my list but not the majority—it similar to if you go out and talk about bipolar disorder—you’ll find the vast majority have no idea what they are talking about.

Someone asked me how I am able to do these daily emails every day.

I must say it’s hard work. There is no magic or automated system. It takes 1 to 1.5 hours EVERY day. Every since I started. I have not been able to sleep in ever.

It’s kind of stressful because I always have to think about doing it the next day.

I am working on a system to be able to send it faster. There is the writing part and the actually system that delivers it. It takes 15 minutes to get that system going so I am working to reduce that to a minute or two. But writing still will take 1 hour.

Anyway, I just saw a post on my blog. It talked about how sometimes the side effects from this person’s bipolar medication was worse than the bipolar disorder.

Do you think this is true many times? Think about it, then scroll down….

KEEP SCROLLING

I disagree. Here’s why? What’s the worse that bipolar can do to a person? Scroll down for the answer.

NO CHEATING KEEP SCROLLING

KILL THEM!

That’s right. Statistics show that up to 20% of people with bipolar disorder attempt suicide.

Many say it’s more than that. Lots of people who are in jail have bipolar disorder.

Are side effects worse than death? I don’t think so.

Take Michele Soloway’s sister (Michele works for me), is DEAD.

What’s worse — her sister’s death or the side effects she might have been having?

In my course/systems, I talk about how to get a handle on side effects, whether you are a bipolar supporter or survivors.

There are strategies for BOTH groups of

people.

I’m not disputing that sometimes the side effects of medications are really bad. I know they are. My mom is on medication.

But at least my mom is ALIVE!

There are so many people that simply do NOT get this idea. Death is final. The end. You don’t come back. Etc.

Medications keep people alive. YES there can be side effects but there are many options. Work with your doctor and therapist. Report side effects. You can get on something that keeps them to a minimum. But remember the alternative.

And if you don’t care about your life, you may not take your own, you might take someone else’s. Just go to google and run a search on murder and bipolar disorder or killed and bipolar disorder and look how many results come up—people who stopped taking their medication.

Agree or disagree?

I know for sure I will get tons and tons and tons of hate mail for writing this because people will say I am part of the pharmaceutical conspiracy : )

Discover The True Cost of Bad People With Bipolar Disorder

Hi,

I hope today’s a good day for you.

How’s it going? I hope you are doing really well.

I have a really important bipolar lesson for you today.

Here’s how I thought of it.

Yesterday after I got back from babysitting three kids and two dogs (which is a really hard thing to do but fortunately someone else was there to help), I was planning my week out which I almost always do on Sundays.

I was noticing that someone that I hired about 5 to weeks ago or so has accomplished more in 4 weeks than the previous people in her position had done in 6 months.

It’s amazing. This person is truly incredible. She is handling so many things and helping to dramatically advance the entire organization so we can help more and more people dealing with bipolar disorder.

There was one person that I hired a few months back that had excuse after excuse as to why she couldn’t get things done. I heard it all. This most recent person came in and did everything she was suppose to do, plus 5 times as much in 20% of the time. It was amazing.

She is a great person.

Over the last 8 months I have hired some really great people and some really, really, really bad people unfortunately.

This got me to thinking about the true cost of bad people with bipolar disorder. Bad people who are suppose to help you with bipolar disorder are like bad employees and contractors. This can happen in several ways.

For example, a bad doctor. A bad doctor can really throw off your loved one’s bipolar disorder.

They can get bad prescriptions – their medication can be “off,” even throwing them into an episode, or even if they don’t go into an episode, they may become a handful for you.

Their thoughts can become distorted, their thinking can be just as “off” as their medication – they can even become delusional or start to hallucinate or become violent.

All because of the true cost of a bad doctor.

You can avoid this by using my good-doctor finding system that I teach in my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Visit:

http://www.survivebipolar.net

You might think you’re saving money by going to a cheaper doctor, but you’re really not.

You have to figure out the TRUE cost.

It’s the same thing with your loved one’s therapist.

Do you want the least expensive, or do you want one who is truly going to help your loved one to get better?

A bad doctor and/or therapist can cost you a ton in the long run. They have cost my mom hundreds of thousands of dollars, and at times I wondered if she got any better at all!

You might think that’s an exaggeration but it isn’t. My mom LOST hundreds of thousands of dollars from bad doctors and therapist. HUNDREDS of thousands.

So there are some good doctors and therapists, and there are some bad doctors and therapists. You just have to find a good one who will help your loved one.

I was thinking about this because Megan, who works for me, had pointed out to me that I have to really work hard on the front end of hiring.

If I try to hire someone just because they don’t want as much money as someone else who has the same skills, it might come back to bite me!

I just have to think about hiring the best person for the job, instead of the cheapest, just like I was telling you about the doctor and therapist for your loved one.

The point is, it’s not whether you hurt your doctor’s or therapist’s feelings or not, if you have to change doctors or therapists because the one you have isn’t really helping your loved one.

Just like I can’t be worried about hurting the feelings of someone I have to fire if they’re not doing their job, or worrying about saving or spending money on hiring a better person for the job even though it might cost me more money.

The most important thing is your loved one and managing their bipolar disorder.

And you can’t be thinking that the cheapest doctor or therapist is the best, just because they’re the cheapest. Actually, they’re usually not the best.

And the opposite is also true. Don’t think that the most expensive doctor or therapist is the best, either, just because they’re the most expensive.

It’s usually the one that comes somewhere in between.

But you need to spend time researching who you are working with. This includes not only doctors and therapists but everyone. Your Primary care physician. Your pharmacist. Your employee rehabilitation person (if you have one), etc.

You must screen. You must not just take any old person.

And finally don’t fall for the “we have to take so and so because this is the only option.” There’s always another option than taking any old random bad person.

Anyone have any comments on working with bad people versus good people with bipolar disorder and how devastating it turned out to be?

Bipolar Disorder? Great strategy–The Date Test Run

Hi,

How’s it going?

WOW lots of responses to my daily email yesterday.

I noticed a few people who are on my list asked me “why do you post these types of things do you need constant reassurance of what you are doing?”

The answer is no.

I am going to send a daily email out soon as to why I do this. There is of course a good reason.

For all wondering, ask yourself, do you think I am the kind of person that just does random stuff? I don’t. I plan. There are reasons for everything.

Anyway, I hope this day is a good one for you.

I need to tell you this story about a friend of mine, because I think it’s funny, and I think you will too, when you hear it:

This is the same friend who spends most of his days thinking about how to go out on more dates! Really!

Now, he’s a young guy that lives at home and has no bills. But he always has these dating strategies that are really funny but in a way make sense.

He was telling me the other day about

THE DATE TEST RUN

Basically, he has 9 different places he will take a girl out on a date.

In every case, he has the menu and what goes on. He knows where the bathrooms are. He pretty much knows who works there.

How? Well, he went there beforehand, got the menu, and asked lots of questions.

He even took it a step further and asked his mom what kinds of foods at each place would be good for a girl. (NOTE: He told his mom it was a project. He said it wasn’t “really” a lie to his mom, because it really was kind of a project. LOL)

Anyway, I was listening and thinking, “That’s a lot of work!”

Ok, so what does this have to do with bipolar disorder?

Here’s what:

I did the same thing for my mom’s doctor and therapist. (No, not take them out on dates. LOL).

But I did check both of them out in certain ways. And this is sort of how I developed my doctor finding system that I teach people about in my courses/systems below:

You’re going to think I’m crazy, but this is what I really did:

I went to the doctor’s office by myself BEFORE my mom went. I wanted to make sure it was in a nice place. I actually went in.

I asked questions like, “Umm…is Dr. (I made up a name) in?” I wanted to see how I was treated.

If they said, “Scram, get the heck out of here, there’s no Dr. X.” I would have stopped my mom from going to that doctor.

I did the same thing with the therapist. I didn’t go in, but I looked at the outside door. Then I struck up a conversation with the people who were in the offices next to her.

I asked, “Hey, how’s it going? I noticed that there’s a therapist over there. My mom is looking for one. Do you know anything about her? Would you recommend her for your mom if your mom needed a therapist? Please be honest.”

I felt like people told me the truth – which was all good things.

NOTE: I timed the drive to both places just to see. I also checked around for traffic.

I felt good knowing where my mom was going. Back in the day, I had a plan to take my mom, but she wanted to take herself. Anyway, the point is that I was prepared.

Then I did something else. I called both places. I left messages to see the response time and how people responded.

Ok, I am going to admit something for the first time ever. I actually had one of my friends call as well.

He reported good things back to me, too.

This whole story may sound crazy to you, but I wanted to tell it to you to show you how important it is to find a good doctor and therapist.

My friend says, “Dude, you don’t want to screw it up. You have to have a dry run. They even do dry runs in the military, so it’s smart.”

I think so, too.

Lots of people think this is stupid and doesn’t make sense and these are people that don’t do well with bipolar disorder. These things make sense and work. It’s important. Would you buy a house without checking it out? Would you buy a car without a test drive? Would you marry someone with checking them out? Of course not.

This idea works. Try it.

Hey I have to run. I am going to the park. Actually on the park note. I can’t believe there are people that get all mad that I talk about going to the park. They write things like, “I wish my life was like yours and I could go to the park.” What the heck? Who can’t go to the park? It’s f.ree. EVERYONE can go not unless you are in a country that bans going to the park. There are people in wheelchairs at my park? They go without complaining and I talk to them all the time. For those complaining? Why can’t you go?

Give me one good reason for those complaining? Also let me know what you think of this strategy.

Bipolar Disorder Threat Against Me Revealed What do you think?

Hi,

Hope you’re doing great today.

You’re probably doing better than this guy that wrote me the following post on my blog (I hope it doesn’t offend you – it’s pretty bad):

“David – take me off your mailing list immediately. Your post concerning forums was completely over the top and self-serving. You are trying to make money off the problems people have and as far as I am concerned you are a completely sick individual who will have a special place in hell. I’ll pray that you gain some morality and avoid that, however you at the present time are a greedy, depraved individual and I want no more of your disturbing trash in my mailbox. Further, I will post a warning against your name and your “programs” on my site and on every other site with which I correspond, and those are many. I fervently hope you go broke! No one deserves it more!”

-Jeremy

———————————————————————-

WOW! That is one angry man!

I’ve gotten posts like this before, and hate mail, even threats on my life (I’ve reported them, don’t worry), but this is a really bad one. So much hatred out of one man, I can’t believe it.

I just wrote him back that I was sorry he felt that way, that I would pray for him and that I forgive him. I mean, what else could I say? Anything else would be defending myself against obviously untrue allegations.

I have no idea what this person’s situation is. Some who work for me that have bipolar disorder think he could. Others who work for me, say he is just mad at the world and taking it out on me. We don’t know.

I have however received messages like this from people who have had bipolar disorder and gone off their medications. If you have been on my list for at least 3 months you’ll remember that I was getting many death threats from the same few people. Finally they went into treatment. How I know? I spoke to their loved one’s who were supporting them.

When you go off your medication and have bipolar disorder you do and say some really terrible things.

Some people become very violent, like several people on my list in the past . This person is violent with his words.

What triggered this person’s comments to me?

I believe he’s talking about the daily email I wrote about where I talked about how you can’t listen to forum posts where they just complain, or where they tell you what to do, and I talked about the military man I knew who said that it’s like going to a forum to learn how to be a soldier and fight in Iraq.

How could he get this angry over that? I don’t understand it. How could he say that was self-serving? How could he get that out of that?

As far as me making money off the problems people have, just ask any of the people I have helped. I have over 8,000 (maybe 10,000 we stopped counting at 8,000)

testimonials from people who have written me thanking me for the courses/systems I sell that have helped them as supporters and their loved ones who have bipolar disorder. And I get more and more each day.

I’m not a gazillionaire. I don’t even pay myself a salary! The money I do make goes into paying the people who work for me and into new courses/systems to help even more people “who have problems.” (like this guy says)

Also, ask anyone who works for me.

I employ several people who have disabilities, some even with more than one. Many who have bipolar disorder themselves. These people couldn’t work for “regular” businesses.

Other businesses wouldn’t hire them because they had bipolar disorder or another disorder. They’re able to work for me, first because I was willing to give them a chance that other businesses wouldn’t, but also because I gave them the opportunity to work from home that they couldn’t get anywhere else.

Does that sound like a “completely sick individual who will have a special place in hell”? (what that guy said in his post) That really hurt me, until I reminded myself that he is exactly the type of person that I am trying to help. He is a very sick man. He is a very sick man.   Like the people who work for me said, maybe in a manic episode,  and very angry.  He’s just taking his anger out on me.I am not greedy, like he accused me of being. If I was, there would be no new courses for people like you to help you manage your problems and your loved one’s bipolar disorder.

I come out with new material all the time to help people. If I was greedy, I’d be making all this money, and it would go to me (and I would be that gazillionaire) instead of programs to help people with disorders like bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia.

There wouldn’t be any daily emails, and there sure wouldn’t be bipolarcentral.com.

If this weren’t so sad, it would be laughable.

But you’re a supporter, and you know this isn’t a laughable thing. Maybe even your loved one has acted like this, and it isn’t funny.

Without medication, a person with bipolar disorder can have distorted thinking, and say things like this man did. That’s why I can’t even be offended by his words. I can only feel sorry for him. Just like I would for your loved one.

Empty threats. Nasty threats, but empty threats. That’s all they are. They would normally hurt my feelings, but I understand them.

Without medication, and/or when someone with bipolar disorder is not stable, or in an episode, they can act like this.

So if your loved one does act like this, like goes off their medication or does go into an episode, although it may seem like they’re directing their anger at you, it’s probably just the bipolar disorder talking.

Hey I have to run. I am probably going to the park today with my Goddaughter Anna. Tomorrow I am going hiking. I just got a new camera and I will be taking photos. I am working on a better system to take photos and post them so you can see. What do you think of what this guy said?
