Need Bipolar Help From An Organization? Do This.

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, I hope you're having a good day. Someone asked me yesterday how I can keep coming up with ideas for these emails. Ha ha. Good question. It’s not the easiest thing in the world but I really work hard at it and put a lot of time into it. Yesterday another person asked me why there were a few people attacking me and excusing me on very strange things. Many people have asked me this. You have to remember that a small percentage of people with bipolar disorder are not well and are out of their mind. If you have been on my list for a while, you might remember when I had a rash of people saying that I did all kinds of things. One person in California said that I broke into their house and stole their “tools.” They demanded that I send them money for compensation. Another in Canada said I stole their car and demanded a new one. Another person said I was working with “government agencies” to “put them away for life.” These people are obviously ill and need treatment. I simply don’t take it personally like I teach you if you are a bipolar supporter and your loved one goes into an episode and says “crazy” things. I have a story to tell you today. I have been in a 4 year battle with this software company that handles a bunch of our CRM stuff. CRM is customer relation management. Anyway, this software does not collect any sales tax for people who live in New Jersey, so this means that for 4 years, I have had to pay the sales tax for anyone who orders anything from me. Isn't that crazy? So a few weeks ago, I got really, really, really mad and decided to declare war on them. I called in and demanded to talk to executives, and I did. Most didn't care, though. They even blamed it on me, which is a joke, how is it my fault? They also told me it would be fixed right away. Then other people there told me it would be done sometime in the future. Finally I kept calling in and asking for people's bosses and I found out who one of the top people was. Her name was JoAnne. I left her a message. No return call. Then I decided to use the "fill it up" strategy I teach in mental health when someone won't return your call. I left a TON of voicemails over a few days. So many that she HAD to return my call. When she called back I was prepared. I had an outline. I told her how 4 years ago this was a problem. I was promised by like 15 people that it would be fixed. I told them I was lied to year after year and I am having to pay the sales tax for people in New Jersey. I told her how they have horrible customer service. I did ALL the talking and made sure to say things that would counter any excuses she may have to defend the company. I told her I knew a ton of users and that I was going to start calling them and getting them to complain. I went on and on and said I was going to keep on calling and might even send an email to my entire list of people to get them to complain, too. Immediately she apologized and said that she was going to get this fixed. I told her that 15 other people said that over 4 years. She said again that she would get this fixed. She asked to call me back and I told her if she didn't, she would have 1000 voicemails 🙂 I was really mad. So anyway, she called me back the next day and said it's now being looked at and they are determining how long it will take. Then two days later, fixing the problem had started! Can you believe it? I thanked her. This is going to save me a ton of money. Then I got to thinking about the lessons you can learn from this story. There are many. First in mental health, seriously, -- and I know many will say this is not true – many people in organizations simply don't care about you or your loved one with bipolar disorder. The success stories in my courses/systems below say this over and over again and that’s why I have these materials for you to short cut getting what you need done faster: NEW LEARN THE SECRETS OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER? http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/bipolarmastersystem/

If you have been around the mental health
block you know what I mean.

But if you are persistent, you can get what
you need.

Look what happened to me.

Now, I admit, it took me a long time (and
a lot of phone calls), and some research on
my part to find the right person who could
really help me, but finally I got the help I
needed.

If you’re having trouble with an organization,
you need to do what I did, and find a JoAnne
in that organization.

Or, like say you’re having trouble getting
the medications that you need. With some
persistence on your part, you can do it.

There are ways, like you can call the drug
manufacturer of your medication and see
if they’ll pay for your bipolar medication –
be persistent until you get to talk to the right
person.

Or you can see if your doctor will give you
free samples of medication. Now, you don’t ask
the receptionist for this. Being persistent is
finding the right person, right? So you might
ask the nurse. Then wait. But she might not
be the right person.

You might have to make several phone calls and
leave a lot of messages, like I did, but stay
persistent. You might have to go to the
doctor themselves. But by staying persistent,
you’ll get the help you need.

Or, if you need to save money to afford
your medication or your doctor or therapist,
because your insurance won’t pay for it
or your doctor or therapist visits, try to
get your doctor or therapist visits on a
sliding scale.

Say you have to talk to the receptionist
first. Well, she won’t help you. Be
persistent, and find the right person who
can help you. It might be the bookkeeper.
It might have to be the doctor or therapist
themselves. Again, you might have to make
several phone calls. But stay persistent.

Do like I did. I finally got what I wanted.

Have you ever been in a situation like I was?

Were you persistent and got what you wanted?

Hey I am going to the gym to do some cardio catch
you tomorrow, ok?

Your Friend,

Dave

Bipolar Disorder? Don’t think like this person or else.

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How are you? I have this friend and he believes in something that is so strange. It's so very odd. Okay, first he does not have a mental illness that anyone knows of. Seriously, it's not that he has bipolar disorder or anything. I say that because what I am about to tell you is so strange you might think, "maybe he has a mental illness." I can tell you, there are many others, though, who think like him. But from his thinking, there is an important bipolar lesson. So let me get into it. Okay, I have a friend that believes in (and I am not kidding) a global conspiracy. He (and others) believe that there are "people" or "elites" that are trying to, and let me try to get this right, merge all the countries together and create one gigantic country. These people don't have names and he can never tell me where they are located. They are working hard to destroy the current system and make a new one which "they" control. Again, "they" don't have names or countries they are attached to. Now my friend is on like a bipolar inner circle but for conspiracies. He gets a CD of the month where people talk about conspiracies and find stuff that prove it exists. If the price of oil goes up, my friend says that's proof of the conspiracy. If it goes down, same thing. He can take a normal event that happens, like a bank fails, then that is "them" getting closer to controlling the world. You might think that I am making this up, but I am not. It's really very strange. He is a doctor, too. He has so conditioned himself to think negatively, it colors every single aspect of this life. If you met him, he would seriously preach to you about the conspiracy. If you didn't agree, he would laugh at you and tell you that you will be crying in the future and that you should prepare. He is preparing to build a kind of compound or something far away from people when I guess they take over. When I ask him when the conspiracy started some days it's 50 years ago, other times it's 1000. He doesn't even realize that what he is saying does not make any sense. What does this have to do with bipolar disorder? Well you see, I believe that because my friend thinks so negatively about society and people, he has hurt himself. I keep telling him that he has been stagnant in life and it's because of this. Think about it, if you thought there was a global conspiracy against you by "them" would you even work at all? Or would you just hang out and be lazy? Now with bipolar disorder, some people believe it's a curse, it's unfair, it's not controllable, etc. These type of negative thoughts make it almost impossible to be a success and have bipolar disorder. In my courses/systems, I promote the importance of being productive, so that you don't just sit around being lazy, because then you'll be stagnant like my friend. I want you to be a success with your bipolar disorder. NEW LEARN THE SECRETS OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER? http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/bipolarmastersystem/

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

Yes, sometimes people with bipolar
disorder do have strange thoughts. But
it’s usually only when they’re in a bipolar
episode. Not when they’re in a “normal”
period!

Normally they think very clearly, and don’t
talk about “global conspiracies,” do they?

Something like this is called a delusion.

But the thing about my friend believing all this
stuff is that he could have too much time
on his hands. That could be how all this got
started with him.

Be careful. If you’re not productive, you
could have too much time on your hands, too.
I mean, I’m not saying you’d turn out like my
friend or anything. I’m just saying that being
productive is a very big part of being successful
with bipolar disorder.

Another reason why I think maybe my friend
believes like he does is that someone put the
idea in his head and he just ran with it. He
stopped thinking on his own.

For you, that would be like going to a bipolar
support group, and someone says that their
medication is the best medicine to take for
bipolar disorder because it worked the best
for their sister and their aunt and it works the
best for them and so you should take it too
because it will work the best for you.

So if you were to listen to them and believe
them without thinking on your own and
without checking with your doctor, well,
that’s like how my friend is acting. Not
thinking on his own. Just believing what
other people say.

And that could be really dangerous for
someone with bipolar disorder, because
what if someone told you there was a cure
for the disorder and you didn’t have to take your
medication any more and you listened to them?

That would be the WORST thing in the world for you!!!

It could even KILL you!!!

At the very least, going off your medication
would make you go into a bipolar episode, and
you wouldn’t want that, would you?

So what do you think about my friend?

Do you think he has a mental illness?

Do you think he’s just a victim of listening
to the wrong people?

Or what DO you think about it?

Because I sure can’t figure it out, and sure
would like to get a “second opinion” on it.

Bipolar Disorder? Distractions Can Cause This

Hi,

I hope you’re having a good day today.

Did you have a goal when you were younger?

Maybe it was a small goal –

Like you wanted to win the school
spelling bee or something.

Or you wanted to save up enough money
to buy something special for yourself.

Or maybe it was a big goal –

Maybe you wanted to go to college.

Or someday wanted to get married
and have a family.

Or wanted to have a good career.

But the point is, we all had goals when
we were younger.

Some of us met those goals.

But others of us met with distractions
along the way toward meeting our goals.

And distractions can cause a
disruption in our lives –

A disruption in the meeting of our
goals –

And, when it comes to bipolar disorder…

A disruption in stability.

And that’s NOT a good thing!

Here’s what I’m talking about:

One of the things I recommend in my
courses/systems is to have a routine:

NEW
LEARN THE SECRETS OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL WITH
BIPOLAR DISORDER?

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

There are several reasons for having a
set routine as part of the management
of your bipolar disorder:

1. Helps you to remember to
take your medication

2. Helps you to keep a good sleep
schedule

3. Helps you to stick to a healthy
diet by eating meals at the same
time every day

4. Gives you structure to your day

5. Helps you to stay productive

6. Gives you a sense of accomplishment
at the end of the day.

Now, as part of your routine you will, of
course, go to any appointments you have
on a given day.

But if you have any distractions, they may
keep you from that appointment, and that
can disrupt the management of your bipolar
disorder, and even be dangerous for you!

For example, what if that appointment was
with your psychiatrist, who prescribes
your pills, and what if you have to reschedule,
but they don’t have another appointment
until next month?

Then, what if you run out of pills?
You’re going to have to make special
arrangements, aren’t you? Then your
whole medication schedule is going
to be off.

What if you’re distracted and have to
miss your appointment with your therapist?
You will then have to wait another week
or, if you go every two weeks, why, now
you’ll have to wait a whole MONTH
before seeing your therapist again!
And a lot can happen within a month!

If you have bipolar disorder, you just
cannot afford distractions!

Distractions can mean the difference
between stability and instability for
someone who has bipolar disorder.

Just like when we were younger and we
set goals for ourselves, so does the person
who is trying to get stable.

You should set short- and long-term goals
as well, as that would help you to be
productive, and not idle, which isn’t good
for your disorder.

But if you’re distracted, you won’t meet
your goals.

Then you might not be productive, which
can lead to depression, which can lead
to a bipolar depressive episode.

No, you need to keep your mind on the goal.

And the goal is stability.

Keep that in mind, and don’t let anything
distract you!

Know what I mean?

Important Bipolar Lesson From Investment Companies

Hi,

I hope you’re having a great day today!

Guess what?

I have a really important lesson for you.

You know I have a business that consults with hedge funds and investment companies. (Not hedges that you find around the house : ))

People who don’t understand what hedge funds are always ask me if I’m a gardener : )

Anyway, one of the big things banks did that are causing them to get into big, and I mean big, trouble is that they didn’t look at the warning signs.

It would be like you not looking at the warning signs of a bipolar episode, and then you or your loved one goes into an episode that could have been avoided!

But here’s a smart thing that investment companies do:

They weigh the cost against the investment.

And that’s a bipolar lesson that you can learn.

Bipolar episodes can cost you.

But bipolar stability is an investment you can make.

Ok, let me explain (but I think you can probably guess what I’m going to say).

Cost doesn’t always mean dollars and cents.

Let me ask you:

How much has bipolar disorder cost you in terms of doctors, psychiatrists, and therapists?

What about hospital stays?

And medication?

Even if you do have insurance, there is usually a co-pay, isn’t there?

And if you don’t have insurance, these things can almost bankrupt you!

And then there are costs that aren’t monetary.

What about the cost of your relationship?

The cost of losing your job?

Your friendships?

Your family?

Your independence?

Your self-confidence?

Your interest in the things you used to enjoy?

Your productivity?

Your stability?

See what I’m getting at?

Bipolar disorder can cost a LOT!

Now let’s look at the other side of the coin.

Let’s look at investment.

To manage bipolar disorder, you have to make an investment in your stability.

In my courses/systems, I talk about how important it is for you to be a part of managing your own bipolar disorder:

NEW

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

These are some of the bipolar investments you have to make:

You have to take your medication.

You have to see your doctor, psychiatrist, and therapist when you’re supposed to.

You have to stick to a regular sleep schedule (8-9 uninterrupted hours of sleep every night).

You have to eat a healthy diet.

You should exercise.

You have to have a strong support system.

You should go to a bipolar support group.

You have to have as little stress in your life as possible.

You might want to practice relaxation exercises.

You should be productive.

You might want to have a part-time job or home business, or at least volunteer somewhere.

You must communicate with your supporter.

You must watch your triggers.

You must watch for signs and symptoms of oncoming episodes, so you can avoid them from happening.

That last point is really important.

All these things I listed are INVESTMENTS in your STABILITY with bipolar disorder.

But if you don’t do the last thing, you will still go into episodes, and you won’t have stability.

But do you see my point?

Bipolar disorder does consist of costs and investments, just like banking does.

And there’s a difference between the two, and both need to be balanced.

Yes, just like your checkbook.

In the case of bipolar disorder, though, you want the investments to outweigh the costs.

But that is up to you.

How about you?

How does your bipolar “checkbook” look?

Are you making enough “investments” toward your stability?

Warning About The Police And Bipolar Disorder

Hi,

How’s it going?

I hope you’re doing ok today.

I’ve been reading in the news a lot about people with mental illness, not just bipolar disorder, getting killed by the police because the police misunderstand the situation, or they just don’t know that the person has bipolar disorder (or some other mental illness).

I read the headlines. I read a lot of headlines from all across the headlines. I stay informed.

I post them on my website, so that you can stay informed, too.

This is really important to me, because when I started bipolarcentral.com, one of the most important things to me (and it still is) was to educate people about bipolar disorder. So I put up the bipolar news on the website as one of the ways to do that.

Anyway, sometimes I’m accused of posting only bad news, and some people really, really don’t like that, and they tell me so.

But I tell them that even if you were to read just your own paper, or turn on the news on your local TV station, you would see all this bad news, too. It’s just all around us, unfortunately.

I just pick out the stories that apply to bipolar disorder, because those are the ones that you are interested in reading about.

In my defense against those people who accuse me of only printing bad news, well, I don’t. I print all the news I can find that has to do with bipolar disorder. My intent, just like it always was, is just to inform.

Unfortunately, I guess these people are kind of right. I wish there were more positive news about bipolar disorder.

That’s what one of the things is about my mission is. I want people to learn more about bipolar disorder so that they will become more educated and not be so afraid of people who have the disorder.

If people are more educated, they won’t be so afraid. Then, maybe, we won’t see so many tragic headlines.

Speaking of sad stories, one of those headlines found in New Jersey, hit home recently. Yea, it was really sad.

But it has a bipolar lesson to it, so I have to share it with you.

Michele who works for me, her cousin’s 23-year-old son was shot and killed by the police. He had a knife, and was surrounded by a squad of police, and they just shot first.

Unfortunately, what the headlines didn’t say was that Jake had bipolar disorder and was in a manic episode at the time, because he hadn’t been taking his medication.

Now, you’re familiar with bipolar disorder. You do understand that, in a manic episode, your loved one is not in their right mind. They aren’t thinking rationally.

Who knows if Jake even understood what was happening to him?

The point was, here was this young man, surrounded by all these police, all these guns pointed at him, and he probably didn’t even know what was happening.

And there was no one there to intervene on his behalf.

In my courses/systems, I talk about what to do if your loved one does become violent during a bipolar episode:

NEW
LEARN THE SECRETS OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL WITH
BIPOLAR DISORDER?

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net
In some types of bipolar disorder, the person can become violent during an episode.

They may have hallucinations or delusions during an episode and not know what they’re doing, and it may lead to some type of violence.

Even if they don’t have this type of bipolar disorder, their disorder may change somewhere down the line, and they may become violent.

So whether your loved one has ever been violent before or not, you need to be aware of what to do if they ever do become that way.

Even if they don’t become actually violent, there may come a time when they are so out of control and you are so afraid that you have to involve the police.

Or maybe you’re not even so afraid for yourself, but for your loved one.

Sometimes, in an episode, a person with bipolar disorder will threaten suicide.

And you may not be able to handle it by yourself.

So, in any of the cases, like I’ve mentioned, the police may need to be involved.

This is the bipolar lesson I talked about earlier. There are some things you should know before you involve the police.

Especially for your loved one’s sake.

Because there still hasn’t been enough education in the community and in police departments to necessarily keep them from killing a person in a bipolar episode rather than just subduing them first and getting them the help they need.

Probably the most important thing you need to know is this:

Should you have to call the police on your loved one, STAY (if at all possible) until the police arrive, so that you can explain to them that your loved one has bipolar disorder.

In many states, it will make the difference between your loved one going to the hospital or going to jail.

If there is some reason you cannot stay, then make sure when you do call the police, that you tell them that they will be dealing with someone who has bipolar disorder.

Again, it may mean the difference between your loved one going to the hospital or going to jail.

As a supporter, I’m sure you would rather see your loved one get the help they need rather than go to jail just for  being in a bipolar episode.

Many times, the police will bring with them a mental health professional who will help them assess the situation and /or your loved one’s condition.

Unfortunately, Jake did not have this luxury.

Had there been a mental health professional on the site, he may have stood a better chance of living.

So what do YOU think.

Getting Away With Bipolar? Guilty or Not?

Hi,

I hope you’re having a good day.

Yesterday I had a lot of questions of why I sent the daily email at 6:00am EST.

I was up really early : )

Anyway, I want to share something with you.

It’s a comment to an email I sent out the other day:
DEAR DAVID, THERE YOU GO AGAIN, PRAISING THE GUILTY AND CONDEMING THE SUPPORTER…I AM TIRED OF THIS ILLNESS BEING A COP OUT FOR HURTING PEOPLE AND VIOLENTLY ABUSING PEOPLE…

I HAVE A DAUGHTER IN LAW WHO GETS AWAY WITH EVERYTHING… SHE GOT AWAY WITH BEING ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING MY SON…AND SLANDERING ME…AND HURTING MY LITTLE GRANDDAUGHTER… THERE ARE TWO GRANDBABIES INVOLVED WITH THIS PERSON… AND I JUST FEEL, QUIT PATTING THEM ON THE  HOULDER AND SAYING, ITS OKAY, ITS NOT OKAY…

……THANK YOU…

Wow. Pretty overwhelming, huh?

This is just a sample of some of the negative comments that get posted on my blog sometimes. Some are even death threats! But you know how I respond to those – those people are reported to the authorities.

I respect everybody’s right to free speech, and even people who post negative comments have a right to their own opinion, but this one I wanted to respond to, because I think she makes some points here.

So I thought you should get a chance to see what she wrote, because I do have some comments to make about her post.

First of all, I don’t see it as threatening.

But let me address this one thing at a time.

As far as me “praising the guilty and condemning the supporter,” I really disagree with that.

I don’t think I ever condemn the supporter. In fact, I try very hard to write encouraging emails to supporters, because I know how hard it is to be a supporter to a loved one with bipolar disorder, because of my mom.

Why would I condemn supporters? That doesn’t even make any sense! I always try to show my support of supporters and to help them, because I know life isn’t easy for them.

As far as “praising the guilty,” I assume she’s talking about people with bipolar disorder. And I know I don’t “praise them.” That definitely isn’t true. What I do is try to educate them about their disorder. To teach them how to manage it.

That is exactly what my courses/systems are all about; not just for the person with bipolar disorder, but for
their supporters as well:

Then she goes on to say, “I am tired of this illness being a cop out for hurting people and violently abusing
people…”

It sounds like she is frustrated and very angry now.

Speaking in general, many supporters are hurt just by the fact that their loved one has bipolar disorder. And some of their loved one’s behavior does hurt them.

But “violently abusing people” sounds like an individual case,” as (only my experience, not speaking as a mental health professional or member of law enforcement) the only way I know of that someone with bipolar
disorder might actually resort to violence would be in an actual episode, and that is much rarer than you might think.

Even then, if a supporter feels like they are being abused, they should involve the right authorities to get their loved one the help that they need and to keep themselves safe.

As far as “this illness being a cop out,” now that may be a point.

Some people with bipolar disorder do use their disorder as an excuse sometimes to behave in certain ways. Although most of them are not a danger to their loved ones. Ways like being lazy and unproductive, like sleeping too much, or feeling sorry for themselves, etc.

Or in others, like not taking responsibility for the things they do when they’re in an episode. Some supporters even think their loved one is lying when they can’t remember the things they said or did when they were in an episode. They think their loved one is using their bipolar disorder as a cop out, or excuse for what they did. So I can see why this woman might say that.

But as far as “getting away with everything”?

And the specific things she described?

These are pretty drastic and dramatic things.

They are also very descriptive and detailed.

They are also only one case, one case that eaves a lot of questions unanswered.

For one thing, is getting arrested “getting away with it”? It sounds to me like it’s more like “getting caught with it.”

And you don’t get arrested for slandering someone. I could see how someone might take offense at what someone says about them… and I could be wrong, but isn’t that something that’s taken up in court and not
with the police?

As far as getting away with “hurting my little granddaughter,” I’m not judging here, or challenging what this woman is saying, but I know that authorities come down hard  on child abusers, and that little girl would not still be in the home if she were truly being abused. They would have taken action.

And she never really says what she means by “hurting.”

I know when I was small and my mom had her episodes, I felt hurt. She yelled at me a lot, and said bad things to me, and that hurt me. And I didn’t understand what was happening at all. But she never, ever hit me or hurt me that way.

But after saying all that, this woman says, “And I just feel, quit patting them on the shoulder and saying, its okay, its not okay…”

And here’s where I take exception.

I would never, ever condone abusive behavior (if this were, indeed, what was happening in this situation) in someone who has bipolar disorder. I certainly wouldn’t pat them on the shoulder and say it’s ok! I think you
know me better than that. That isn’t something I would do.

I may understand bipolar disorder, and why people who have it do what they do, but I still wouldn’t think it’s ok for them to do bad things.

If what this woman is saying is truly the case, then it’s obvious that her daughter-in-law needs help.

But was this a one-time occurrence while in an episode, or is this ongoing behavior?

She couldn’t be on her medication and do these things. She is obviously not stable, or following any kind of a treatment plan.

Did this woman who posted this comment actually SEE all these things, or did her son maybe just tell her them, and are they accurate accounts?

As a supporter, he needs to know that he can’t help his wife if she won’t help herself. That’s one of the things I’ve tried to teach you. At some point, she needs to take some responsibility for herself. And this woman said that there are TWO grandbabies involved. How come she didn’t say anything about the other one?

But here’s the biggest point that this woman brings up:

She thinks her daughter-in-law is “getting away with it,” meaning she is getting away with all of these things just because she has bipolar disorder.

I do think that this woman feels helpless to do anything in this situation. I understand that feeling, because there were times that, as a supporter to my mom, I felt that way, too.

I think she is also very angry and very frustrated. So I don’t blame her for writing this email.

But what do YOU think?

What do you think about the situation? Do you think her daughter-in-law is “getting away with it”?

What do you think she should do?

Bipolar? Great Story Reveals Critical Lessons

Hi,

I hope your day is going well.

I heard this funny story the other day.

This man looked up at the sky and said, what is the meaning of life?”

A big, booming voice came down from he sky and said, “Life is like a river!”

“You mean that it’s long and winding?” the man asked.

“What do you think?” the booming voice answered.

Puzzled, the man asked, “You mean because it has so many twists and turns?”

Again, the booming voice answered, “What do you think?”

Still puzzled, the man asked, “You mean because of all the things that get caught up in its way?”

“What do you think?” boomed the voice from above.

This time the man thought he had the answer.

He asked, “You mean because there seems to be no end in sight?”

The voice boomed, “What do you think?”

Frustrated by this point, the man answered, “I think I better figure out the answer for myself, that’s what I think.”
—————————————————–
I don’t know about you, but I thought the story was funny.

But I thought it made a good point, too.  And, like always, I realized it could be related to bipolar disorder.

Sometimes we have the answers to things, we just don’t know that we do.

Like in my courses/systems, I give suggestions on how to solve problems:

Sometimes we think we have the answer, but it turns out not to be.

Sometimes we get really frustrated, because we just can’t see any answer to our problems at all.

Sometimes the answer to our problems might be staring us right in the face, and we just can’t see it.

Sometimes we can find our own answers by learning from other people and how they found their answers.

Sometimes the answer seems to be so well- hidden that we think we’ll never be able to find it.

But just like the funny story about the man asking about the meaning of life…

The bottom line is, you have to find the answer to your problems for yourself, however you have to do it.

But I guarantee, the answer is there somewhere.

You just have to look for it.

Have you ever heard the expression, “The impossible just takes a little longer”?

Some people don’t try at all.

Some people blame their problems on other people.

Some people with bipolar disorder blame their problems on the disorder.

Some people try a little bit, but give up easily.

Some people try to make their problems into someone else’s.

And then there are those who won’t give up.

I like to think of most people with bipolar disorder and their supporters that way.

It’s not their fault that they have the disorder.

It’s not fair that they have to live with something they never asked for, or deserve.

And there are a lot of problems that come with having bipolar disorder.

It takes a lot of willpower and strength to deal with the problems that come with the disorder.

It takes a lot to fight the disorder, and it takes a lot to manage the disorder and especially to not let the disorder manage you instead.

Those are some pretty big problems, wouldn’t you say?

Yet I talk to or hear from people with bipolar disorder and their supporters every day, and they are doing it.

Most of them don’t complain about it, even though I’m sure they don’t like it, and would rather it didn’t happen to them.

But they’ve accepted the reality of their problems, and they do something about it.

They face their problems head-on, and they look for solutions for them.

They don’t blame the disorder for their problems.

They don’t try to blame other people for their problems.

They don’t try to make excuses for their problems.

They just accept life for what it is, and accept that there are problems that come with life.

Whether you have bipolar disorder or not.

These are the people that I respect the most.

Because these are the people who don’t give up.

The Bipolar Secret You Must Do

Hi,

How’s it going?

I am up super early today.

It’s 4:24am EST.

I have a ton of things to do today so I had to get up really early to send this off to you.

Anyway, I saw this post on my blog:

I want to thank you for the ongoing information, and I am glad you have the book Everything you wanted to know about Bipolar.or something like that. You said it might be useful to hand to schools, police.. Anyway, here is the scenario.

My ex is furious with me for divorcing him. He is dragging it out hoping to force me into bankruptcy, thereby he could get all the assets. He of course is saying since I have been diagnosed as having bipolar I can not handle money (real story he lied about income, taxes. and gave me and the kids a tiny portion and I paid almost all the bills for the kids, sold all my jewelry and racked up the credit cards to not impact kids lives hoping for fair trial. That hasn’t happened.

He says I am a golddigger and horrible mother (reverse is true) and since I have bipolar nothing i say is true. Judges believe him. A Nanny has waved arms around at school and called cops on me when I exercised my first right of refusal. Police took her word for everything (real story it is much cheaper for my ex to hire a lying nanny who is anxious to live in my house than to settle with me).

Bottomline, I’m glad I had your booklet. I took it to the police supervisor today. I told him it is critical to write accurately about someone, wouldn’t he want me to do the same?

I handed him the booklet and told him I have been diagnosed and I am highfunctioning and hyperthymic. He may not rewrite the report but he will educate the officers about bipolar and how they need to treat people fairly. I am not sure about the outcome of the rest. We are 4 years into it. I want my kids.

I did realize that due to my situation what is really critical is education about bipolar and other mental illnesses for those who do not have funds, or are cheated out of legal funds, they should have them. What you are doing is very important, Dave. Thank you.
Diane
—————————————————————-

So here’s the secret you must do:

You MUST educate people and be proactive.

You need to be like Diane, and take an example from what she did.

Like what she did, taking my booklet to the police supervisor.

It may not guarantee that he’ll do something to help her situation, but at least she was proactive – she did something, she didn’t just wait around doing nothing and expecting her situation to change – and at least  she educated him, and he’ll educate others.

Then maybe the next time he (and others) come against someone like Diane and her situation, he’ll handle things differently.

You need to educate people. It’s the only way to make things change for you and others who have bipolar disorder and their supporters.

It also might make it easier to let me do the educating, like with my booklets and other information (using it to do the talking for you, like Diane did).

When I started my website and writing my courses and materials, it was with the purpose of educating people about bipolar disorder.
