When the bipolar doctor may be wrong

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I really have to make this short today because
I have a million things to do.

I was reading over my blog over the last
few days and I saw someone who wrote:

“My son was diagnosed as being bi-polar
two years ago. The doctor, a psychiatrist,
put him on medication. Finally, I got the
doctor to change his medication. I could
see a difference in him almost immediately!!!!
That was over six months ago! He still has a
little rage inside, but his “episodes of anger”
don’t last as long.”

When I was reading this, I was excited for
this person’s success.

A few thoughts came to mind.

First, I don’t think most people realize
how just small medications in a treatment
plan can make a big impact.

With my mom, just a small change, once
made all the difference in her moods.

Secondly, I don’t think bipolar supporters
realize that someone times the doctor
may be wrong or thinking that your loved
one is doing better than they are.

This happens because maybe your loved one
doesn’t tell the whole truth nothing but
the truth when asked, “how are you doing?”

Also, with the fact that most times, doctors
don’t see what is really going on with your
loved one.

It’s not their fault it’s just “the deal.”

Anyway, it’s the bipolar supporter’s job
to help the doctor treat a loved one in
the best possible way.

Even though my mom has a great doctor,
there have been two occasions in the last
3 years that I had to step in and persuade
my mom’s doctor that treatment had to be
changed.

In my courses/systems I have lots of
worksheets and checklists about
helping yourself with bipolar disorder
or helping a loved one when you are
trying to explain to a doctor that
the treatment plan may be off.

I made these worksheets and checklists
to be used as a tool to help yourself
or communicate information accurately
to a doctor or therapist.

If you feel that your loved one’s medication
is not right, you can:

-Fill out the worksheets

-Bring them to the doctor

-Point out what you are seeing including
days of the week and time

-Explain why you think there
should be a change.

Build your case that is persuasive
so the doctor listens. In my courses/systems,
I talk about how to do this at length.

It’s hard to explain it all in a simple
email but here are some general guidelines.

WARNING!!!!

Do NOT bring print offs from the internet
and plant them on a doctors desk or
fax them to him/her.

This is super annoying for the doctor and
winds up making them mad at you.

I hear these stories of people going to
websites and printing 30 pages off and
then circling certain spots and then
throwing it at the doctor and saying,
“look at that!”

That’s a good way to make a doctor
mad.

Also, do NOT expect results too fast AND
don’t expect your loved one to have perfect
moods. NOBODY does. Meaning, if someone
cuts your loved one off driving, he/she
will probably be mad, medication doesn’t
fix that. If that were the case, EVERYONE
in New York and New Jersey would be on medication
because everyone is mad about “stuff”
once a day in the northeast 🙂

So be reasonable.

I have to run, catch you tomorrow.

Dave

Setting yourself up for this common bipolar mistake?

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

Hey, how’s it going?

Hope you are doing really well.

I am really, really, really, really
tired 🙂 I have been working on a
whole bunch of things.

I must say, I am very happy with
the progress that I have made recruiting
very important people and companies to
help grow this organization for bipolar
disorder.

I have contracted with a number of new
companies, hired a bunch of people, many
of which have bipolar disorder and taken
on some volunteers. I actually am going
to be sending a message out looking for
new volunteers very soon. I’ll
keep you posted.

So, today I wanted to talk about
something that I see bipolar supporters
doing wrong a lot.

I call it, setting yourself up for
the permanent caretaker.

NOTE-This is in reference to if
you are helping an ADULT with
bipolar disorder NOT a child or teen.
That’s a different situation.

If you find yourself having to
do a whole bunch of things to
live with, work with, support
a loved one with bipolar disorder,
there’s something wrong with his/her
treatment plan (in my opinion) or
there are many variables “off” in
the person’s bipolar stability equation.

NOTE-I am NOT a doctor, lawyer,
therapist or other kind of professional.
I am NOT offering medical, legal or financial
advice.

Okay, so what do I mean by “things.” What
are things you might be asking. Here are some
of them:

-Having to walk on eggshells

-Not being able to go in entire parts of
your house, apartment or resident because
if you do, your loved one will explode

-Having to constantly watch what you say

-Constantly being worried and not knowing
if you’re loved one will be angry, happy
or something else.

-Having to follow your loved one around
checking to make sure the person went to
the doctor, therapy, took their medications,
etc.

-Handling all their important communications
with others.

If this is you, these are all signs that your
loved one isn’t doing well and the treatment plan is
wrong probably. You need to inform the
doctor and therapist about this right
away.

I notice that people in this situation wind
up becoming a caretaker instead of a supporter.

In my mind, a caretaker is what someone who
is really old has or what someone with Alzheimer’s
has. It’s a person that “handles” everything
for them forever to the end of time.

My Grandfather had Alzheimer’s and he had
first my Grandmother as his caretaker and
then he was put into a home. He was not
expected to do stuff on his own.

See the difference between caretaker
and supporter?

Notice that with my material, I don’t refer
to people as bipolar caretakers. Imagine
that?

You are a bipolar supporter if you
are helping a loved one with bipolar
disorder. NOT a permanent caretaker.

You have to make sure that whatever you
are doing it:

-is not going to require you do it forever
(for example, you can watch someone take
his/her medication for a few weeks or months
but not forever)

-the person will become responsible for him/herself
and not have you being responsible for all
their actions

-your plan or strategy to help your loved
one feels like it’s driving you into an early
grave as it goes on years and years into
the future.

In my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:

I talk about strategies that are geared
towards helping a loved one with
bipolar become independent OR how
to become independent if you have
bipolar disorder.

I think many people forget to tell
people that bipolar disorder is NOT
an illness where someone should be
taken care of for the rest of their
lives.

If you find yourself in this situation,
I believe you need to work with a doctor
to get the treatment plan correct AND
also look at your bipolar stability
equation.

If you have bipolar disorder:
Are you moving towards being independent,
responsible for yourself or do you have
caretakers?

If you are a bipolar supporter, are
you becoming a caretaker or supporter?

Ask yourself these tough questions.

With that said, I have to run. I’ll
catch you tomorrow.

The Bipolar Lesson From The Giants Football Team

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Hope you are doing well.

Hey, it’s snowing here today. I didn’t
even know it was suppose to snow today.
But I like the snow. It was much better
back when I could have “snow days” and
get a day off from school. Now, my
boss is so demanding I don’t get days
off (I am my own boss 🙂

Anyway, I wanted to write a quick note
on something that I thought of–the
bipolar disorder lesson from the Giants
football team.

Last night was the Super Bowl. The Super
Bowl is when two football teams play
each other for the championship at
the end of the year.

Football is the sport where there is a
ball that people throw around. If you
are from another country, just
run a search in google to find out.

Why am I explaining this? Well I have
had over 175,000 people sign up for
my list and there are lots of international
people that might not know.

Anyway, here’s the deal. The New England
Patriots were undefeated the entire season.
The expected to win and win big against
The Giants. ALL experts predicted this.

The experts said New England was the greatest
team EVER and that there was NO chance
the Giants could win.

Well guess what? The Giants did win.

What’s the bipolar lesson? It’s that
sometimes you have to take what experts
in the mental health field say with
a grain of salt–or ignore it. Especially
when it comes to who can become successful
or get bipolar disorder under control.

If you are a bipolar supporter, you will
be faced with a steady stream of negatively
probably. Many from those in the mental
health field. You may hear:

-your loved one won’t get better

-your loved one is a mess

-your loved one can’t ever do this
that and the other thing and won’t be normal

-you’re loved one will keep being out of control
forever

-there’s little hope

How do I know? Experts told me this about my
mom. Not only did experts tell me this, my own
family doubted there was hope for my mom.

BUT many times, these experts are wrong.

If you have bipolar disorder, you’ll hear
a lot of negative stuff as well:

-you’ll never be stable

-you’ll never be able to beat bipolar disorder or
control it

-you’ll never be able to start that business you
want to start

-you’ll never find the right combinations of medications

etc.

Even though many times this is totally not true.

You can’t let negative experts bring you down.
Now you should welcome realistic thinking like:
“bipolar is a serious condition and requires
a serious treatment plan that may take an extended
period of time to get just right” but not the
kind of statements that suggest success can
never be reached.

If I look at everyone that works for me with
bipolar disorder, ALL were told they were hopeless
and that they basically could not control bipolar.

It was suggested that Michele Soloway that works for
me be permanently put in an institution for the rest
of her life. “They” said there was no hope for her.
Well, she now works for me and is one of the most
incredible people I have ever worked with. What she
gets done is amazing. Not to mention
all the other people who work for me with bipolar
disorder.

Actually I was just thinking of something. Over
the years, my mom racked up massive d.ebt through
her episodes to the tune of over $30,000. That’s
a ton.

I was told by experts in the mental health field
that there was NO way she could pay it all off. It
was impossible I was told. Guess what? I put together
a system and this month, she made her last payment.
She paid it ALL off herself. ALL.

If I could figure out how to use my scanner, I would
scan all the sheets I have over the years showing
how she incrementally paid it off slowly but surely.

Virtually every success story that I have
as an interview reveals the odd were
against them and they were told success
was unlikely. I include these success interviews
in my material to first, let the people reveal
the real life strategies they use and secondly,
give you inspiration that you can do it as well.

If the people who are my success stories can
do it, why can’t you? Well you can.

Now the Giants did what I did. The believed in
themselves. They had a plan and strategy and
the executed it well.

That’s what you need to do with bipolar
disorder. Believe. Have a plan and strategy.
Execute like you have never executed a plan
or strategy before.

I have to run. Catch you tomorrow.

Bipolar Supporter? Don’t make this mistake

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Hey, I have a whole lot of good
news going on.

First, I have a new company that
is going to be managing a lot of my
advertising to try to control the costs
that are getting way, out of control.

Secondly, we have a new mentorship
program when if you start working for
me and have bipolar disorder, I will
pair you with a person who currently
works for me and have been successful
for a while. This way new people with
bipolar working and be mentored by older
people who have bipolar.

The goal is to get the newer up to the
level the older person is. We feel in
the organization that doctors and therapists
are great but a person who has bipolar and
is successfully working can help a new person
looking to achieve that goal.

Anyway, the program started yesterday.

So today I wanted quickly to tell you
something.

Yesterday I wrote a message about how
I have a friend that told me that
his brother had bipolar disorder and
now it seems my friend actually has
the disorder and that’s why he has
not been doing well for years.

I was writing how my friend was driving
me crazy last night with all this fast
talk and talk of people out to get
him.

Last night my friend called and was totally
calm and made perfect sense. It was rather
interesting.

This tends to happen. My friend is able to
talk normal to me many times but who knows
what he is like when I am not on the phone.

My friend knows that I know bipolar and
let’s face it, is probably trying to
manipulate me by acting really calm
so that I don’t catch on to his situation
of whether or not he has bipolar disorder.

To see the entire message what happen
the other day, and the numerous
bipolar lessons learned, see my blog below.

Anyway, people wrote me that they were sorry
and I appreciate that.

Then a bunch of people wrote me to be careful
not to get caught up in my friend’s bipolar
episodes if he has bipolar disorder.

Believe me, I sure won’t.

Here’s what I wanted to tell you. I thought
about this and there is no way that I can
spend a lot of time like I put into my mom
to help my friend. My friend is in total
denial with whatever he has and so is his
family. It would be a gigantic up hill
battle for me to do all that needs to be done
and right now I don’t have the energy or time.

Some might find this mean. There’s no question
if my friend asks me for specific help I would
help. If his family contacts me, I would let them
have access to all my material.

But as for me handing it all and doing it
all, I am not going to.

Why? Am I a mean guy? No. I just know my
limits and that’s something that many
bipolar supporters have trouble with.

Let’s talk about it.

You might think that I don’t know my
limits because it looks like I do a whole
lot of work every day related to bipolar
disorder. And I do for sure. Why? Well
I really like doing this kind of stuff.

But, I say no a whole lot every day.
There are MANY things that I don’t do
and won’t do.

When you are a bipolar supporter, you’re
going to have to say no and prioritize.

At first if you have a close friend or loved
one with bipolar disorder, you have to decide
if you are doing to help the person.

Once you do, you then have to get all the
information on what to do. You need how to
do it and strategy information.

You can get it from people like myself
in my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

OR, you can figure it out on your own
by calling doctors, therapists, finding
successful bipolar supporters, reading lots
of books, attending support groups and lectures
and then put together your own system.

With that said, you need a strategy however
you’re going to get one.

Then after that, you have to really focus on
your loved one and getting them into treatment,
a good doctor, helping get them on the right medication
with your doctor, and ultimately helping them
become stable.

Then after that, you have to start to clean up
the mess from the bipolar episode.

Then as you are doing this, as the person becomes
more and more stable, you turn over more responsibility
to them. You can’t expect someone in a major bipolar
episode to pay their bills, keep track of everything
that’s going on, fight off c.reditors if they exist,
etc.

But as time goes on, more and more responsibility
is turned back over to them.

Now as this is occurring you are going to have
to say no to a lot of stuff that you might not
say no to. Why? Well helping your loved one is
higher on the priority list and the other stuff
is lower on the priority list.

And you have to remember if you don’t say no
to other stuff you normally do, you will start
to burn out and almost have a breakdown.

You can only do so much at a time. When I was
helping my mom, I had to take a year off from work.
Now I could because I have my own business. I also
had to say no to hanging out with my girlfriend at
the time a lot and my friends. I had to skip
vacations and other things.

But as my mom got better, I then started doing
these things again. But I knew that I could put
all this effort into her and do all the same
things at the same time.

Now when it comes to my friend, I don’t have the
energy or time to be able to do all that needs
to be done especially with someone who is in total
denial he has anything to begin with. And, I now
run an organization where a whole lot of people
count on me so I have to be at my best and
can’t let the organization get dragged down.

There’s an old saying, “you can’t fight too many
battles at the same time.”

With that said, this is why I made this type of decision.

Some people may think this is rather mean than
me. This doesn’t mean that I would call emergency
services if my friend was going to harm himself
or something like that.

The bipolar supporter lesson is to make sure you set
your priorities, don’t take on too much, and make sure
when your loved one starts to get better, you turn
over the responsibilities back to them.

Some people make the mistake and don’t do the last step
and almost become a permanent caretaker for
someone with bipolar disorder.

Even with my mom, I refuse to fix all her problems
and enable her. She has to fix her own problems
these days and handle them. I have never felt
better since I started this new policy several
years ago. Back in the day, I fixed EVERYTHING.
EVERY problem went to me. It burned me out.
I won’t do that again.

Anyway, what do you think of this? I
have to run. Catch you tomorrow.

Dave

Shocking bipolar disorder story

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I hope you are doing really well
and have a great day.

I have a super important strategy
for those who are bipolar supporters.

Read on for the story.

Yesterday I thought my mind was
going to explode.

I have a friend, who contacted
me yesterday who has a brother
who has bipolar disorder*.

His brother has had so many
problems with bipolar over the
years it’s sad. Drugs, alcohol,
sleeping around, getting married,
getting divorced, etc.

So I was talking to my friend
and first he started saying how
his brother has not been on medication
for a few months and is doing okay.

I was like, “that will NOT last
period. He will wind up going into
a bipolar episode, I guarantee
it. I reminded how many times
we have been that the ‘my brother
isn’t on medication road and is
doing great.'”

He started arguing with me. My friend
was really on edge and talking
kind of fast.

So then I changed subjects to
talk about my friend.

I said, “so how’s it going?”

He said, he was just back to
work after not being there for
weeks.

I was like, “what happen?”

Then he said a long story
about how he was sick and was
being attacked by a whole bunch
of people who were out to destroy
him.

He went on and on and talked about
this global almost conspiracy.

I kept saying, “huh? that doesn’t make
sense?” I would ask questions and
my friend would just talk way louder
and not making any sense. According
to him “these people” tried to destroy
him and that made him sick and depressed.

I was soooooooooo confused. But at this
point my mind felt like it was starting
to explode.

Yesterday I dealt with so many different
things including taxes, international stuff,
shipping issues, customer service training,
hiring people, on and on and on.

So then I told my friend to just get another
job and stay away from “THEM.” I didn’t
even understand who “THEY” were anyway
but I was like, “what the heck, just stay
away and get another job. Problem solved.”

My friend then started yelling at me
for nothing really and then kind of yelling
about this huge group that was out to get
him.

So then I changed the subject but he would
not change the subject. Finally I figured
if we started talking about his brother
he would change.

So then he said, “yea, he’s not taking
medication and doing great. There’s no
such thing as bipolar disorder.”

====>>>>>>IMPORTANT NOTICE<===========
There is such thing as bipolar disorder.
I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer and
not offering any medication or legal advice.

I was like “holy, cow, wow my head is
really starting to hurt.”

For 5 minutes I heard how there is no
such thing as mental illness or bipolar
disorder. It’s because “some humans
are wronged so much by others that
it causes them to have a breakdown.
Mental illness is the result of society
destroying people.”

I was like, “NO! Mental illness is real
and to stay it’s not is a lie and also
minimizes something that’s really serious.”

My friend went on and on and on and on.

Finally my friend said that medication is
not the solution and it’s about “affirmations”
and “going to a place where there are good
people.”

IMPORTANT NOTICE
I know you guys hate when I keep saying
the same thing but I just want it to be
clear and someone doesn’t read this
and think it’s medical advice.

I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer and
not offering any medication or legal advice.

At this point, I seriously thought I was
going in insane.

I changed the subject but my friend
then said, how he “doesn’t even
take his medication any more.”

I was like, “huh????”

What medication, “the medication that
the doctor gave me.”

My friend then explained how he simply
says he takes it and has some kind of
scheme that makes it seem like he is
taking it.

My friend says the medication was
for depression and anxiety.

I listened and then I thought of
something.

Look at this:

-My friend has had so many relationships
that don’t last it’s amazing. Tons.

-My friend has lost virtually all his
friends.

-My friend has gotten into many fights
with his friends.

-My friend has told me about multiple
conspiracies against him. Some so strange
that I was amazed.

-My friend has been talking really, really
fast for weeks.

-My friend sometimes says stuff that doesn’t
make any sense at all.

-My friend is super smart and creative.

-My friend’s family has a history of
addictions and my friend has had addition
problems

-My friend has made numerous threats against
people and gotten in trouble.

-My friend projects his own behavior onto
others. Meaning, he says people are attacking
him when he is the one that is attacking them.

So I ask my friend, what do they say that
you have?

Guess what he said to me. Scroll down for
the answer….

GUESS. And then scroll….

B I P O L A R D I S O R D E R 2

I was totally shocked. My friend said
it wasn’t true. He didn’t have a mental
illness and it was “society that wronged
him.”

He then said some nonsense about how
society wrongs people and that the kind
people suffer at the hands of a small
group of evil people. The evil people
medicate the kind people.

I made NO SENSE AT ALL.

My head hurt so much that I thought
my mind was going to explode.

My friend then went on a tirade.

In my head, I decided that my troops
or my bipolar supporter army was not
equipped to fight this battle and we
had to retreat.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I said,
“Hey, what time is it?” My friend said “almost
9:00pm.” I said, “Geeze, I have to call my
mom before she goes to sleep, I have to go.”
I hung up.

I sat in my chair amazed. It all came together
why my friend’s life is a nightmare. It appears
that he has bipolar and has been in total
denial for years. It all made sense now.

It was the strangest thing that his brother
has bipolar disorder and wasn’t doing all
that well but then admitted it. But my friend
doesn’t admit it and projects his own
behavior onto others.

His life is falling apart and he doesn’t
even know it. It’s really sad.

In my courses/systems below I talk about
how to get a loved one into treatment
if he/she doesn’t want to go.

ways I have come up with. And if you have
bipolar disorder and you don’t feel good
about bipolar disorder, I talk about
all the benefits of going into treatment
and so do all the success stories I have
in my course. If you feel bad about your
bipolar disorder get my information.

The one technique that I used was the
“conversation changer.” Which is,
you change or redirect the conversation
to somewhere else when you are talking
to someone who is not doing well with
bipolar disorder.

Finally when things go totally wrong,
you have a conversation ender. “I have
to call my mom was my conversation ender.”

Also, you can’t argue against madness.
I argued a little until I figured out
my friend has bipolar disorder probably
and it would be an argument against
madness.

When you are a bipolar supporter, you
need to have these conversation changers
and conversation enders ready at ALL
times.

Finally, if you have bipolar disorder,
heed this WARNING. Get into treatment.
Take your medications. Do not game
the system.

My friend is destroying his life and
those around him. He is doing horrible
and doesn’t even realize because he
is slowly slipping out of his right
mind. If you have bipolar disorder,
don’t let this happen to you.

I have to go to the gym.

What do you think of this story?

Catch you tomorrow.

Dave

Revealed: The bipolar support group mistake

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I am dead tired. Why? Well last night
I had to volunteer and it went on for
hours and hours and hours.

It ended really late and I didn’t get home
until like 11:30pm and then I had a bunch
of stuff todo.

As I sat listening to last night’s speaker,
I was kind of getting annoyed. Why?

Well the speaker was a person with bipolar
disorder but spent 95% of the time talking
about how much of her was a nightmare.

I didn’t understand it because she is
successful now. She has her own business,
she is a writer, has a family, etc.

BUT, she never spoke about:

-How she started her own business
-Coping strategies for dealing with bipolar disorder
-How she explained bipolar disorder to her kids
-How she works with her doctor
-Ways that she gets to sleep when she can’t
-What were the exact keys to her success
-How often she sees a therapist
-How she was able to raise little kids with bipolar disorder
-How she was able to graduate college and get other post graduate
degrees

Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

The entire thing turned into this. It’s like
bipolar took over the room and then people in
the room started telling their bipolar horror
stories oh how bad it is or how bad they
have had it.

There were many bipolar supporters sitting
in the audience looking depressed.

I started to feel depressed. I heard about
horrible depression, gigantic manic episodes
and also how almost there’s not a lot of hope.

After this was presented, several bipolar supporters
raised their hands with questions like:

Can my son/daughter be normal?

Can my son/daughter go to college?

Can my loved one be happy ever?

Is there hope for my loved one

The entire thing really turned so negative
that so many supporters wound up being
worried that there loved one was DOOMED.

I leaned over to a person that also volunteers
and I was like, “Is this really negative or
what?” He was like, “Yea, it is.”

I said, “Why don’t we have at least 50/50? 50%
negative and 50% positive.” He said, “Yea it
should be that way.”

There was really no message of hope delivered.

I noticed that many bipolar supporters were
really uncomfortable and had that “wow,
there’s not a lot of hope, this is a horrible
disorder that will just doom my loved one.”

Here’s the deal. Bipolar support groups
are okay. Some are better than others.
Some are more positive than others. Many however
are just places people go and complain and
vent.

I want you to remember this if you are
a bipolar supporter and going to a support
group. The most successful people generally
do NOT, and I repeat, do NOT go to these
groups.

They are home making it happen and don’t.

Want to hear something crazy? Well out of
every person that is high functioning
that works for me that has bipolar disorder,
ZERO, go to support groups.

Also, I can only think of one bipolar success
story that I interviewed in the last THREE
years that regularly go to a support group
to give back and teach.

These are just the facts. I know that I will
get some people who are mad that I said this
but these are the facts. There is a book
written by a girl where she goes across the
country looking for successful people with
bipolar disorder. She doesn’t find as many
as she thought. Why? well she is looking
in the wrong spot.

I spend a TON and I mean a TON of money
to find successful people with bipolar
disorder. You don’t find them in support
groups.

Bipolar supporters have to realize this
and not go to these meetings and then think
that their loved one is doomed because
they don’t see successful people at
the meetings.

Finally, I am solution and strategy driven.
Many of these groups are not. You just
have to realize that.

A question was asked:

“My son is resistant to treatment and doesn’t
want any. What can we do?”

No one gave this lady who asked the question
an answer. They said things like, “have faith.”

There are things that you can do. There’s
lots of them.

People just don’t know.

In my courses/systems below:

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

I outline over 22 techniques. How did I come
up with these? Well I invented and used
like about 7 myself. And then I spend about
$50,000 to build a mailing list and then
survey people on the list for the best methods.

I then compiled the results and listed techniques
that were successfully used by at least 5 different
people.

I also interviewed the people who came up with
the technique for further clarification.

That’s why my list is a good one. It was a big
joint effort.

But people last that meeting thinking that there
is no way.

I don’t say a lot at these meetings. I ask some soft
ball questions (ones that are easy to answer).

I don’t feel it’s appropriate to challenge speakers
unless they are doctors or therapists. Even if
they do, I rarely do. I heard one doctor say
basically a person with bipolar disorder can’t
really be in a job that requires responsibility.

I just rolled my eyes. So I guess that means
that all the people that I have working for me
with bipolar disorder shouldn’t be working
for me?

Even though I don’t have bipolar disorder,
I take personal offense when someone says
this kind of thing.

a) because they are insulting people
who are my friends

b) they are insulting me because I hire
people with bipolar disorder

c) they are causing people to think negatively
of people with bipolar disorder

d) they are saying stupid things that cause
people to not reach their full potential. I remember
as a kid one teacher that told me that I would not
amount to anything. That I was dumb and that I would
never do well in school.

I will never forget when she
said it to me. I can tell you exactly where I was
in school, what the day was like, what I was
wearing and what she was wearing. I felt like
a moron.

NOTE-I actually tracked this teacher down, of course,
and reminded her about what she said. She couldn’t
seem to remember and said she always knew that I would
do well. Yea sure.

SECOND NOTE-I had another teacher Mrs. Nesnay
that told me the opposite. She told me
I was super smart and gifted. I now know she
was making it up 🙂 but it sounded good
at the time.

She told me that if I do something to always
do it big and as best I can. Actually I will
say this. It was her that caused me to want
to do well in school and always do well
at everything.

Whenever I do something I seriously have it
programmed to do it big and grand. Just like
this bipolar stuff. This is an extension of
the principles that Mrs. Nesnay the great
teacher instilled in me.

I tracked her down as well and she was
really happy to see me. I told her if she
ever needed anything anytime to call and
I would get it done. She is a great person.

WARNING! You have to be really careful when
you are a bipolar supporter not to destroy or
crush your loved one’s hopes and dreams. You
want them to be stable but you can’t
put so many constraints on them that they
stop learning and progressing.

Some bipolar supporters say, “We are never
going to have an episode like this again
and I am going to micromanage your life
so it doesn’t happen. You’ll never do
this, that and the other thing.” This is
so important that I am going to be talking about
this in upcoming articles and podcasts.

I have met many a bipolar supporter who
does this and many speakers that talk about
doing this.

At these meetings I don’t ever correct
speakers or speak over them so to speak.

For example, I didn’t rattle off 15 to 22
ways to help get a loved one into
treatment. I didn’t feel that would be
right.

A long time ago, I made the decision that
I would not do this and I would just keep
my mouth shut and just volunteer.

So I setup chairs, hand out literature,
answer questions if I am asked them directly,
move tables around in one place.

There’s another support group that is
incredible that is much more upbeat and
way more productive.

Anyway, this one has been like defunded
and there were very few meetings for 2007.
Sad but true.

There isn’t one planned for at least the
next 4 months. They have a super small
get together every week with about 8 people
but that’s it.

I guess they are running out of money. I am
not sure. The other place I volunteer is okay
but it’s a little too negative for me as well.

BUT, I still go and volunteer and have now
for years. Many people who work for me ask
why I go because they think it’s a waste of
my time.

The one good thing it does is it allows me
to talk person to person to see what problems
and issues people have with bipolar disorder and
also not to lose touch with it so then I can
come up with new podcasts, articles, ebooks,
books, guides, courses, manuals, etc.

You know what? I think that I am going to
put on my list of things to do to write a
f.ree guide on how to run a support
group and also how to market it. Don’t even
get me started on the marketing end.

Did I ever tell you about the support group
I volunteered at that had incredible and I mean
incredible speakers AND food but only 18 people
in attendance. Keep in mind there are 9 million
people in New Jersey and millions more in the
states next to Jersey.

They told me that the didn’t have money to
market or know how to do it? I told them
that I would do ALL the marketing for them,
and pay for it. They said, “well let’s see
if we can get approval for that.” That was
three years ago, I guess they are still working
on the approval.

Bottom line is this. If you are a bipolar
supporter, realize what you are getting when
you go to these support groups. Don’t get
discouraged if you don’t see success.

I wanted to send this email so you know
the real deal.

Warning don’t do this to a great bipolar doctor

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How are you doing?

Hey, I have to go super quick today because
I have a bunch of things to do.

BUT, I wanted to continue my info on
doctors and bipolar medications.

Oh by the way, I have a really, really
cool new thing that coming out on the
importance of medications for bipolar
disorder. It’s going to be a f.ree
video.

I will keep you posted.

I also have 8 more podcasts that will
be uploaded today or tomorrow.

Okay, today’s topic is how to turn
a great doctor into a really bad doctor
fast.

How does this happen?

Actually take a guess? How do you think
this is possible? Guess then scroll down…

NO CHEATING!!!!! GUESS THAN SCROLL

KEEP GOING? Didn’t know this was so much work
did you?

So what did you come up with?

Okay, here’s how it happens AND it happens
ALL THE TIME.

Let’s talk about how it’s done point by point.

1. The patient is really slick and works
and beats the system. Some people with
bipolar disorder are so smart that they
actually know how the system works and
even though they are not stable they know
what to say to doctors to get them ultimately
less treatment.

What do I mean by less treatment? Well if a
person is not stable let’s assume they
need a change of medications

NOTE-I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer,
insurance agent, etc. I am not offering
medical or legal advice. NOTHING that
I say should be used to diagnose, treat
or prevent and disease, illness or disorder.

Okay the person with bipolar who knows
how to work the system even though he
or she could be suicidal or homicidal
knows how to answer questions and act
so that there is no let’s say increase
or change in medication.

Eventually this person will have some
kind of major episode and do something
really bad. The doctor will look like
he/she had no clue when they were
really manipulated.

2. The person with bipolar is NOT
honest with the doctor.

Let’s say Mary has bipolar and is
feeling really ill, depressed,
tired and has side effects from
her bipolar medications.

When the doctor asks:

“How’s it going?”

She says, “good.” She then never
says how she is really feeling. So
after the 15 to 20 minutes of the visit,
she escapes with no change in treatment.

Ultimately Mary could wind up killing
herself or getting into a super bipolar
episode.

Even a great doctor has no chance against
bipolar disorder if the patient is not
honest with them. SOME super doctors
can pick up on this but if they keep
asking you over and over and over again
about how you are feeling. And the person
with bipolar disorder says, “good, good,
good, good, and good” the doctor is
at a major disadvantage with how to
shape treatment.

3. The third way is that the person
who has bipolar disorder does NOT follow
his/her treatment plan. This is what happen
with my mom’s current good doctor twice.
Two times, my mom didn’t follow the plan.
She took her medication but many of her
other “bipolar success variables” in her
bipolar stability equation were way off.

As a result, she went from stable to
unstable in 7 days 2 years ago. Then
sometime last year she went into a mini
episode. BOTH times were because her
treatment plan was not followed. She did
take her medication but didn’t do the
other “stuff.”

As a result, we almost created what I called
a “Bipolar Doomsday Scenario.” Fortunately,
I stepped in and stopped it.

Anyway, at first I was all mad at my mom’s doctor
because I felt like she didn’t do something.
But then I did a PEA (post episode analysis),
and found out the real deal.

NOTE-Never accuse anyone of anything related
to bipolar disorder without a careful investigation
on your part. Wait for days to go by before
you reach a conclusion. I talk about how
my mom’s other doctor before the great doctor
was horrible. I did a two week investigation
and asked him a ton of questions to reach this
conclusion.

Those are the ways to turn a great doctor into
a bad one.

I know people on my list have HORROR stories
of what I just described.

WARNING

If you are starting to think the doctor should
work harder, etc to make sure this doesn’t happen,
it’s just not realistic.

A doctor can’t investigate every single person’s
situation. There is just not enough time.
It’s unrealistic. Lots of bipolar supporters want
the doctor to do all the work. It’s like the parents
of children with bipolar disorder that want me
to get in a plane, fly to their house, deliver
my courses/systems, read it to them, go to the school,
work with their kids, etc.

What’s the way around this?

If you have bipolar disorder, don’t do the
things that I just listed.

If you are a bipolar supporter you need to communicate
EXACTLY what’s really going on to the doctor, especially
if you are supporting someone who is really manipulative
and lying.

In my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:

I talk about how to do this from a to z. I tell
you want to do. I have exact plans. And, don’t feel
that you are blocked by privacy laws. I have to
be honest with you, it’s a breeze to get past those.

I have some many strategies to counter when
you get hit with the, “the doctor won’t talk
to you.”

It’s kind of like a game for me. It’s David Oliver
versus bipolar disorder to help his mom. I am 100%
confident that I will win. I imagine a thing that
I am dealing with that is trying to beat me.

When I was making my courses/systems, I would think
of what it would do to counter what I would do.
Then I would have a counter to it’s counter. And then
I would think of it’s counter to my counter and I would
have a counter to it’s counter of my counter.

Plus, I never give up. Then I now have one last secret
weapon. I have a bunch of people who have bipolar
disorder that work for me that truly geniuses.

If I am starting to lose in a situation against bipolar
disorder, I talk to 2 to 4 people with bipolar that
give me a strategy to win.

Then I pass all this stuff to you in courses/books/guides/
systems, etc.

Hey, I have to run. Catch you tomorrow.

Signs of a bad bipolar doctor finally revealed

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

What’s new?

Hey, good news for me. Yesterday I think that
I randomly found a person who can help me with
a lot of my operations. Things are starting to
grow so fast in so many different
areas it’s really, really hard to keep up.

Actually this is a good lesson. When you
have a problem, and if you ask everyone and
anyone for help, you’ll find the solution.

This is what I did with bipolar disorder back
in the day and this is what I did with my problem
of handing operations AND using these new technological
things that we bought but never use.

I am actually bringing on two more people to
help.

People ask, how can I afford to hire all
these people? It’s not easy at all. Some think
that I am making millions but others know the
truth when they look at my expenses. I am NOT
making millions. But I firmly believe this
is a tremendous good cause and I really enjoy
working in this field so to speak.

NOTE-I am NOT a doctor, lawyer, insurance
agent, or other kind of professional. I am
NOT offering medical, legal or professional
advice.

Anyway, the good news is I finally believe
I have the people in place to help me with
a bunch of technology to speed up the
distribution of new f.ree information that
involves audio and video.

I have wanted to do this for, well forever
but I didn’t know how to do it. Everyone who
currently works for me is way behind in
what they are doing so I couldn’t ask
them. I found some new people who will
be able to help.

I wanted to talk about some signs of a bad
doctor.

I did an interview the other day with a psychiatric
nurse and she said she was amazed how many people
she knew that had bad doctors but stayed with them
for years and years and years. My mom
had a bad doctor and did the same.

I think it’s because people either don’t believe
there are other choices or they don’t know what
a bad doctor is. It’s kind of like a person in
a bad marriage that doesn’t even know it’s
a bad marriage. Ever meet someone like that?
They make excuses that their husband is never
home, drinks all the time and hits them “occasional.”

OR a wife that is totally abusive, controlling
and hits the husband. He says, “well she is
just overly excited a lot.” Know what I mean?

Anyway, if you need help finding a doctor or
therapist and want to sort through a ton of
them you can use the f.ree bonus in my courses/
systems below:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

Now if that’s not your situation, let’s
talk about the signs of a bad doctor.

For the person with bipolar disorder some
of the signs are:

BIG SIGN #1:
The doctor doesn’t listen to you
This happens a lot I hear. You have problems
and you tell the doctor and he/she doesn’t
even listen.

#2:
The doctor doesn’t take notes or remember
what’s going on from visit to visit. Now
we can’t expect a doctor to remember every
single thing you have ever told them over
a super long period of time. But if you
find your doctor forgets lots of stuff they
shouldn’t, that’s a bad sign.

#3:
The doctor is never around for emergencies. Again,
if you call the doctor 5 days a week every month
with an emergency then well they probably won’t
be around. Why? Well because you are kind of abusing
the system so to speak. I know people will get
mad that I said that but doctor’s have lives as well.
Anyway, I am not here to debate that. What I am saying
is, if you call over several months a few times
for an emergency and the doctor doesn’t get back
to you fast or someone in his/her office and this
happens repeatedly, that’s a bad sign.

#4:

The doctor has massive turn over with their
receptionist. This is a huge problem. I know doctors
reading this will think:

“Wow, I was with him until he said this, why he
is saying this? He is out of his mind. He has no
clue what he is talking about. What’s with this guy
anyway?”

Anyway, here’s the deal. Massive receptionist turnover
is a BAD SIGN. This means one or more of the following:
the doctor isn’t paying enough causing turnover
the doctor is way to hard to work with causing turnover
the doctor doesn’t have a good system to hire a receptionist
and keeps on getting the wrong person over and over

If you see like 3 to 4 receptionists in like 6 months
and there isn’t a really good reason like well so and
so left because they had a bad, so and so left because
well her husband moved and she went with him, he randomly
got a great new big promotion, and so and so left because
she had to devote all her time to taking care of her child
that now was diagnosed with Cancer.

Something like that. If you doctors receptionists vanish
and this happens a lot, ask what happen to them. It’s a negative
if you get the run around and don’t get a straight answer. Know
what I mean?

One last thing, one more receptionists that one has, the
more chances stuff gets lost. What kind of stuff you might
be wondering? Well your files and also releases.

W A R N I N G ! ! !

In my courses/systems I tell people to call every
three months to make sure the doctor still has
the medical releases you have signed. Make sure
you do that. I bet 99% of people do not do that.
I do it all the time. Guess who you are talking
to? The receptionist.

With my mom’s new good doctor, she had two receptionists.
Between the first and the second, the releases my mom
signed were lost and I went from having the ability
to talk to her to not having the ability to talk
to her (the doctor). One of the receptionists lost
the paperwork.

I learned the hard way. Call and make sure yours
are in place.

#4
Your doctor is in a really bad part of town where you feel
your life is at risk when you visit. This is a bad sign
because this means the doctor isn’t thinking or could
have money problems. Don’t laugh but I have heard this
so many times it’s amazing.

#5
Your doctor appears to have little to no knowledge
of bipolar disorder. You ask questions about stuff
in the news about bipolar disorder. They say, “huh?
What’s that? Who’s that? What do you mean?”

These are all bad signs. Make sure you have a
great doctor who specializes in bipolar disorder
and illnesses like it. Meaning in some cases, people
can be misdiagnosed so if you have a doctor who
specializes in bipolar disorder and depression
he/she is a little more well rounded. But you don’t
want them where they are like an expert in 17
different areas. Why? You can’t keep up.

I know what I am talking about because I focus
on bipolar disorder AND borderline personality
disorder. That’s my two focuses. I know about
schizophrenia but don’t put in the time like
I do with bipolar disorder.

I only have one person I think with schizophrenia
that works for me as well. Maybe not? I actually
forget.

#6
The doctor sees you for minutes or seconds and
offers assembly like fraudulent chiropractic
type care.

What do I mean? Well if you go to the doctor
and he/she is like “hey how’s it going? How
are you feeling? Great okay see you next
time” and only a few minutes go by,
that’s bad.

That’s like what bogus chiropractors
do. They bring you in, spend minutes cracking
your back and then put you out the door and
say, see you in 2 days. It’s like a scam.

How do I know? Well I have friends in
chiropractic that do NOT do this but they
tell me all the time this is common. This is
unfortunately common in mental health as well.

Now 15 and 20 minutes is all you will get.
My mom gets I think 30 minutes but my mom
pays more. My mom’s current doctor charges
her the most any doctor has ever charged her.

BUT she does a darn good job. Even my dad
who is famous for buying everything and
anything on price alone agrees she is well
worth it. He and I learned the hard way.

Anyway, you are better off paying more
to find a doctor who spends at least 15 minutes
each visit.

Now there are some ways to turn the 15 minutes into
24 minutes or 28 minutes :). I reveal that in
my courses/systems.

Actually I hope when I say it’s in my courses/systems
you don’t think that I am just trying to sell
you. The thing is, there is a ton to learn and
I can only put so much in emails, podcasts, etc.

I try to give as much as I can but some you
have to get by making an investment. I hope
you understand.

These emails take at least 1 hour to formulate,
write and distribute.

Okay so back to the signs, the last sign
is

#7

The doctor doesn’t believe in anything other
than bipolar medications. He/she doesn’t think
that therapy, diet, exercise, stress reduction,
sleeping well and on time has any impact on
bipolar disorder. Medication is critical. NO
QUESTION ABOUT IT. But there are other things
that can aid and help.

#8
The doctor doesn’t believe in bipolar disorder
or labeling people. This might sound crazy but
there are doctors like this. These doctors
generally give the wrong treatment plans
and put people on the road to a disaster.

NOTE

Again, I am not a doctor and nothing I am
saying should be used to diagnose, treat
or prevent and disorder or illness.

Seriously, please don’t think that I am a doctor.

Hey, tomorrow I am going to talk about
how to turn a great doctor into a really
bad one fast. Lots of people do this and then
get all mad at the doctor when it’s their own
fault.

Okay I have to run.

I have to do three interviews
today, go the library, talk to one consulting client,
review a new computer software program, interview
two new potential people, look over 4 new almost
completed projects, write 4 articles, look at this
murder case of someone with bipolar disorder,
review a new podcast I am going
to be releasing, and then record some audio.

Catch you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

Dave
