Goal setting and bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, I have my big interview today. I am slightly
worried because I don’t even get the questions
ahead of time. It’s suppose to be natural. This isn’t
for bipolar stuff it’s for my consulting business.

I have to get going so I can brainstorm what
I think the questions will be.

Before I take off to go to New York City,
today I want to talk to you about:

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTING

Many people have zero goals and as a result get
nothing done. I’m not necessarily talking about
lazy people, either. These people look and act
normal in every way – they may be your friend
or neighbor, your family member, your spouse,
or even you!

They seem to have a very normal life. They
may even feel like they have a boring life, in
fact. That’s because they have no goals to
strive for.

If you have no goals, you will not really
accomplish anything. Every day will seem
to be like the next. You will get up, go to
work, come home, go to bed. Every day.

Your work life will be just as boring as your
home life, again, because you have nothing
to strive for. You are in a dead-end job; you
have no professional goals, either.

In my courses and systems, I discuss how very
important it is to have and to make goals for
yourself – both short-term and long-term goals:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

When you’re talking about bipolar disorder,
typical goals might include: to be stable, to
not miss doctor’s appointments, to become
financially independent, etc.

Making To-Do Lists is a good way to help
you to achieve your short-term goals, and
not to overwhelm you.

I asked 16 people in a day what their goals
were for the next year and only one of them
had even a vague idea.

With the new year coming up, and people
thinking about what their New Year’s
Resolution is going to be, people have
change on their minds anyway. So this is
a good time to be setting goals.

Remember, you can set short-term and
long-term goals. Don’t set goals that will
be impossible for you to reach, or you will
just set yourself up for failure, and you
don’t want that. So make sure these goals
will be ones you can reach – if not sooner,
then later.

Make your goals reasonable goals. Make
sure these goals are suitable goals for you.
Make sure these goals are for YOU, and
not goals you think other people want you
to have.

Setting a short-term goal and reaching it
can be a wonderful boost to a poor self-
esteem. Try it!

Hey, I have to go to New York now.
Catch you tomorrow.

Your friend,

Dave

Watch out for this with bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, What’s new? Hope you are doing well today. Good news. I finally made my first
video with a topic related to
bipolar disorder. I think it’s really
cool.

NO this is not going to be a video
that you would see in the movies that
cost $25,000,000. I don’t have that
kind of budget J

BUT, it doesn’t work for me. Can you
believe it? When I go to the website
that it’s at, I can’t view it. BUT it
works for every other person on my
team.

I don’t want to release it yet until
I figure out why it won’t work for me.
I should have it figured out in a few
days.

I will be sending out an email. Stay
tuned.

I have to make this super quick because I have
to take off and get ready for a big
meeting that I have tomorrow–a
meeting that I have for my consulting
business that has nothing to do with
bipolar disorder.

But before I go, I wanted to talk
to you about something that happen.

There’s a person that works for me
in this organization for helping
both bipolar supporters and bipolar
survivors.

This person has been having trouble
for the last couple of weeks–trouble
with his bipolar disorder.

So we were talking and basically this
is what happen. He was taking medication
for another condition that he has involving
his nerves (not mental health nerves but like
nerve damage).

The doctor prescribed this medication for him.

Hey, speaking of doctor, I don’t think that
I have had this in a few days.

I am NOT a doctor, therapist, lawyer, insurance
agent and I am NOT offering any medical or legal
advice.

So, his bipolar disorder started getting worse.
What do I mean by worse? Well he because less stable
and it was just hard to deal with his bipolar disorder.
At first he didn’t know why.

So to make a really long story short, and I do, because
I have to go, his medications for his nerve damage
were affecting his bipolar medications.

Then I was talking to someone else that was telling
me that his wife had taken d.iet p.ills. These pills
caused her to go into a manic episode.

Then I was talking to another person that had
to start taking medication for another illness
not related to bipolar disorder or mental
health and this created problems for the person’s
bipolar disorder.

In ALL cases, these people never let the
psychiatrist know that a new medication or
supplement was being taken and asked how it
could affect the bipolar medication.

This is a big no no.

In my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

I talk about how you ALWWAYS should run
everything past the doctor for bipolar
disorder and let him/her know what is
going on.

If you don’t big problems can occur.
This happen to my mom as well. She was
taking medication for something. I forgot
what but it interfered with her bipolar
medication. So her PCP (primary care
physical) and her doctor for bipolar
disorder, worked it out.

But they never would have unless my
mom pushed to have them work it out.

Remember this, anytime you introduce
something new into your system
it can affect your bipolar disorder.
Always run it past your doctor for
bipolar disorder. That’s why they
get paid the big bucks. But, many
times they don’t even charge when
you tell them this information and
get their opinion.

It’s a good idea to type up a document
of what you are taking and fax it to them.
Then fax them permission to speak to your
other non bipolar doctor.

I have found most doctors fair with their
time unlike lawyers who charge even
when you think about them 🙂

Okay, sorry not all lawyers. But for
every lawyer reading this thinking, “hey
Dave, I am not like that.” You know there
are many like that.

NOTE-Remember natural supplements can
adversely affect bipolar disorder medications.
Let your doctor know about these as well.
And if you are a bipolar supporter you can
simply follow in instructions in my bipolar
supporter course on how to communicate
this to your loved one’s bipolar doctor.

Okay, hey I have to go. Catch you tomorrow.
I must off to the library.

Have a great day. Oh, and if you have a story
about this type of situation that I described
today and want to share please do. I know
a TON of people have had this problem on
my list.

Your Friend,

Dave

Bipolar Lesson From Chicken Half off Sale

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

What’s new?

I hope you are doing well.

I was food shopping–yes I do
my own food shopping like everyone
else.

I was buying some chicken. Why? Well
because I eat a lot of chicken.

Anyway, I was in the chicken isle.
I was standing there.

I was super confused because the
sign said 50% off but it was totally
confusing as to what. Was it on
the chicken? The beef? The chicken
and the beef? Was the price already
marked down?

So a guy was standing next to me.
We both were looking at the chicken
and sign. After about 7 minutes he
looked at me and said, “am I a moron
or does that sign really confuse you. What’s
50% off and what isn’t?”

I said, “I have no idea.”

The guy said, “If I call my wife, she
will yell at me and maybe divorce me
for being incompetent.” I said, “well
you probably shouldn’t call her.”

So then an older lady walked
by (75+). I said, “Excuse me Ms.”
She said, “you going to ask me out
on a date?”

I said, “umm, no not really, but I was
wondering if you knew if the chicken
was 50% off.” She said, “just read the
sign.”

I said, “well, umm, I didn’t the sign
is confusing…see?” She said, “it says
50% off.” I said, “well I know but it doesn’t
say off what?”

Both the guy and myself explained
how the sign makes no sense. She insisted
that it did.

FINALLY she agreed. So then she said why
don’t you ask someone. I said, “well umm,
we tried but there is no one back in the
meat section.”

She said, “Honey, God gave you feet so use
them.” She then said, that the other guy should
go and ask because he was younger than her.

He was like, “Hey, I am 63 years old.” She said,
“I am 72.” I said, “I guess I am going since I am
the youngest.”

So I walked up and looked for a manager. The store has
like 1 manager for a store the size of a city—which
makes no sense.

So I asked him. He talked about 1000 words per second
and basically called me a dummy. I was so super mad
that I went into super mad mode and said, “look, I have
wasted a lot of time with this nonsense. I want you
to come back here NOW please and look at the darn
sign.”

So then he came back and I showed him how the sign
was totally flawed.

It was in the wrong spot
It didn’t really say what was on sale
It didn’t say if it was for beef and/or chicken
It didn’t say if the price on the label was marked down

He agreed. I said, “SEE everyone.” The older lady said,
“Shame on you.” The other guy was checking with his
wife and I could tell she was yelling at him, he kept
saying, “Honey, the sign isn’t clear. There is a gentleman
trying to figure it out. I’m sorry. Yes I read the sign.
Yes I know how to shop. I can do things without you. I will
be home really soon.”

It was funny. Anyway, we found out the deal. It was on
chicken/beef. The prices were marked down. So the
other guy got a bunch and went on his way.

What the heck does this have to do with bipolar disorder?
Nothing. Just kidding. Seriously it does.

After driving home I was thinking about the following
important concept.

MANY times with bipolar disorder you are going to
get really, really, really, really vague instructions
on stuff.

For example, “take a bunch of these.” These meaning
medications but with no real instruction. You have
to go back and get clarification. Either you the
bipolar supporter or the person with bipolar disorder.

I think it’s totally unfair that some doctors throw
medication at a person with little to know instruction
and expect them to understand.

If you are a bipolar supporter, you have to watch
out for this. You should know how to take the medication
so you can help your loved one.

When my mom was in the outpatient program in the first
week, they made her take a bunch of medication. I remember
thinking, “how in the world do you take this stuff? It doesn’t
make sense to me?” I was super confused. Then we called
the doctor and asked. He talked about 500 words a second.
I was like, “SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I was super annoyed.
I was like “what the heck is wrong with these people?”

Finally we got instructions and my mom began to understand.

I asked the doctor over the phone for a system to keep
track of everything. He said and I quote, “I don’t know,
I gotta go.” I was thinking, “what a doctor.”

So then I went to Walmart and asked about 40 people how
to take lots of medication. I took all the ideas and
combined them into a system that I bought my mom back
home.

Sometimes I think about how much work I did to figure
this out and it’s amazing? Geeze I had to walk around
Walmart bumping into people and asking, “hi, my name
is David. My mom has to take a bunch of medications for
an illness and we were trying to create a system
to help her manage it. I was wondering if you had
and ideas?”

A normal human wouldn’t even be able to do such a
thing because they would get made fun of, people
would run away, and it was like sales. Well all those
things happen to me. Since I was in sales, it didn’t
even really phase me. I think some people thought
I was out of my mind.

In my courses/systems I talk about how bipolar
supporters have to help their loved ones take their medication.

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

I also talk about how those with bipolar disorder need to
create an effective system to remember which mediations
they took and when.

Another thing you’ll hear is

Find a good doctor (but they don’t tell you how)
Find a good therapist (but they don’t tell you how)
Find a job (but the don’t tell you how)
Get on disability (but they don’t tell you how to survive
with such little money

on and on.

Luckily ALL of that is covered in my courses/systems.
I have learned the hard way.

Wow, just I totally forgot about walking around the
Walmart bumping into random people trying to invent
a bipolar medication management system. Wow that
wasn’t a lot of fun.

Hey I have to take off. I’ll catch you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

Dave

Big mistake with bipolar disorder-Internalizing craziness

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? I hope you are doing well. I am probably going to offend
some people today. But I have
to say this. It’s important.

I know I will get a whole lot of
hate mail from this email 🙂

I am actually getting ready to take
off for the gym and I was thinking about
something that happen to me yesterday.

We just setup some super duper
system that monitors whether or not
emails that I send are actually getting
to the people I send them to.

Anyway, I had to look at my entire list of
email addresses in my database. It’s a ton
like over 190,000.

I was scanning the addresses and looking
and noticing something strange.

Before I tell you, I have to explain
something–“the front part” of an email
and the domain name.

Let’s look at an example email. This
email does NOT work.

davidtest@leverageteamllc.com

The davidtest is the front part. The leverageteamllc.com
is the domain. I have no idea what “the front part”
is really called.

Anyway, as I looked at my list I saw this:

crazyoldlady
manicmike
Iamcrazy
crazyoldwoman
insane247
(note, probably means 24 hours a day
7 days a week)

NOTE-
I didn’t include the domain name to protect
the privacy of each person. Plus I don’t want
a thousand people writing them.

There were TONS of these people.

I thought to myself that’s really
strange.

Why in the world would someone internalize
the worst part of bipolar disorder.

Then I thought about a whole bunch of
things in my life.

People who acted a certain way because
they thought they should be that way.

My one friend that had a tattoo that
said “simple insane” across his chest.
For years he got into so many fights
because well he thought he had to
because he was suppose to be tough.
After he stop internalizing being
“insane” he is on his way to becoming
a millionaire. He made like $500,000
last year. 10 years prior he was facing
jail time.

Another friend of mine that has a big
gigantic tattoo which I can even write
here. The tattoo means that he doesn’t
follow rules. For years he was off the wall
and always in trouble. Today, he is reformed,
getting married has a good job, but for too long
he internalized craziness.

There was a person on my list with bipolar
disorder. Her front part of her email was
like crazyjane. I first spoke to her
when I started this.

I had a long one hour talk with her and
said to her, “if you keep doing what you are
doing, you’re going to be dead.” She was shocked.
I said, “I give it straight. You are too talented
to keep acting crazy. I told her to lose the email
address. Stop acting like a fool. Follow my system
(which her parents bought for her), find a great
doctor, listen to the doctor, get a therapist,
and do good in life not bad and stupid things.

She actually listened. Today she is incredible. She
is married. Has a great job. Stable. Volunteers
to help other people with bipolar disorder out.
But for years, she internalized craziness because
she thought that’s what she was suppose to be.

In my courses/systems below:

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

You hear story after story of people with
bipolar disorder that make this fatal mistake.
The thinking goes like this.

NOTE-I am going to say it like the person
who has bipolar note like it’s from me.

I have bipolar
Bipolar equals craziness
I am going to act crazy because I have bipolar
I am going to do everything I can to go along
with crazy things–like change the front part of
my email to have a word like crazy in it because
that’s what I am suppose to do/be

See how it works?

This is bad.

Now, one last thing. This goes along with bipolar
supporters as well. But in this way.

THE BIPOLAR SUPPORTER

The bipolar supporter can think like this
and this causes the person with bipolar disorder
to do the exact opposite of what should be done.

Things like this are said and thought by the
bipolar supporter:

-They will be “crazy” forever
-They’re so crazy
-Don’t expect much from them, they are out of it
most of the time
-You can’t count on them because they’re crazy

See how this thinking works. That’s not made up.
I hear it every single day from all different
bipolar supporters.

So in summary.

If you have bipolar disorder, don’t internalize
craziness. What kind of front part do you have
for your email? How do you think about yourself?
Do you think bipolar disorder equals crazy?

If you are a bipolar supporter, realize your
thoughts about your loved one influence him/her.
Be careful how you think about him/her.

Hey, I have to run and go to the gym. Catcha tomorrow.

One last thing, in my organization which has lots
of people with a mental illness here’s how we think

-They’re going to be smart because they have a mental
illness

-They’re going to be creative because they have a mental
illness

-They’re going to be hardworking and dedicated because
they have a mental illness

-They’re going to get things done faster because
they have a mental illness

See the difference?

Your Friend,

Dave

The Number #1 Bipolar Disorder Killer Revealed

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

What’s new?

I hope you are doing well.

I have something that I want
to tell you today.

I actually have to make it kind of
quick. I snowed again last night
and I have to clean off my car
and head to the good old gym.

I also have to go to the library—I have
6 books that I MUST read by the end
of the day.

Anyway, I wanted to jump into
something right now.

Do you know what the number #1 bipolar
disorder killer is?

Take a guess then scroll.

NO CHEAT. Make sure you guess first and
then scroll…

Keep scrolling?

Annoyed? Scroll down further.

I think I have found out what the
#1 bipolar killer is:

I think it is IGNORANCE.

Think about it.

Webster’s dictionary says that
the definition of ignorance is
“being ignorant.” And the
definition of ignorant is:

“destitute of knowledge or
education.” See that?

Destitute means poor. Actually,
really poor. So someone who
is ignorant is “really poor in
education or knowledge.”

I don’t know about you, but
I always thought an ignorant
person was someone who was
just stupid.

But now I realize how that’s
just a really mean thing to think
about someone who is ignorant,
because it’s not that they’re stupid,
it’s just that they DON”T KNOW!

In all my courses, I stress so much
the importance of KNOWLEDGE:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

You know how I am always
stressing the value of knowledge,
how I’m always preaching about
how important it is to keep
educating yourself about bipolar
disorder.

That’s what all my courses are
all about! That’s what all my
emails are all about. That’s what
all my newsletters are all about.
That’s what my website is all
about. That’s what *I* am all
about!

I want to educate you about
bipolar disorder. I want you to
learn everything you can learn
about the disorder, so that you
can master it instead of it mastering
you. (Sound familiar?)

Ignorance, by definition meaning,
NOT KNOWING, can lead to a
person not taking their medication
or the right medication because they
don’t know what to tell their doctor.

Ignorance can lead to a person committing
suicide because they DON”T KNOW
what else to do!

Let’s think about that. Ignorance leads
to people NOT KNOWING what to do.

Can you see how serious that can be
when you’re dealing with bipolar
disorder?

Now do you see why I’m always
preaching about you getting as
much knowledge about the disorder
as you can?

Why I’m always telling you that
next to medication that knowledge
is the next important thing to
recovery from bipolar disorder?

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

It’s true. The fastest route to the
life of stability is to gain knowledge.

Knowledge is the opposite of
Ignorance.

Which are you going to choose?

Your Friend,

Dave

I’m hiring and the 11 letter magic word for bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? I hope you are doing well. Last night I had to speech. I was late.
Shame on me. Anyway, I am just so pressed
for time going from one thing to the next.
If you saw my schedule, you would think
I was in a super manic bipolar episode.

Last month, I did over 10,000 minutes
on my cell phone.

I have so many things to do today.
I have multiple doctors that want
me to do an interview with them concerning
bipolar disorder.

Plus I have a number of things to related
to my other businesses.

I have been recently putting in 18 hour work
days. It’s crazy.

The reason is, I have three businesses
that have been around and I have great people
running them. These don’t’ take much time
but some time. Obviously you have to check
in make some decisions, watch over some things,
etc..

With this organization for bipolar disorder,
I am really struggling to keep up. I really
have to get more help because it’s taking
up so much of my time.

I know there are great people on my list
that can help.

I actually am hiring a new marketing
assistant.

I have to write up a complete job description
for people to apply but in the meantime,
if you are interested, send me an email
and a resume.

I am looking for someone who is
creative, good with computers, know
marketing just a little (you don’t have
to know it a lot, I will teach you), is
organized, punctual and a hard worker.

I think this would be a great job for
someone on disability.

If you are interested send something
about yourself and/or a resume to:

feedbacktodave@mentalhealthworld.net

Also, since this organization has grown
very fast, I have had to hire a bunch of newer
people. Unfortunately a few are not working
out and are going to have to go.

People who don’t show up, aren’t dedicated
to the cause, etc. make me really mad. It’s
a MAJOR disappointment. I have had to
do the work of multiple people because of
a few people not doing what they are suppose
to do.

I was talking to someone with bipolar disorder
that works for me and does an incredible
job all the time about why in the world
we have some slackers on the team.

The person explained it might be because
they just don’t understand the cause. Hmm.
I guess so.

Anyway, I will be replacing these people.
The odd thing is, I find that those without some kind
of disorder to not be very hardworking or
dedicated. So I will be sending out
an email over the next week or so
for a person to work in “operations” and
be an administrative assistant.

I am looking for someone who is VERY
organized, smart, a great problem solved,
super dedicated and is accessible.

Both these jobs are going to be home based.
Everyone should have internet high speed,
a phone line and the basics of a home office.

I will be posting this job in about a week or
so.

What happen is this. I have hired two people
that simply are not consistent. The aren’t
ever really accessible and have a multitude
of excuses as to why they haven’t done
anything.

I can’t sit around and wait that’s for sure.
If this was like the post office where nothing
new is ever happening, it would be fine. But
since this grows really fast, there’s no room
for undedicated, not doing what their suppose
to do people.

This is a major benefit of hiring people who
happen to have one or more disorders—they generally
if stable are 100% committed and super hardworking
because they understand the cause—which is to
help people who are dealing with various disorders
like bipolar disorder—both supporters and survivors.

So if you know anyone, let them know. I just haven’t
had the time to write a complete job description and
get it posted. Andrea has so many projects that I am
hiring a new webmaster to help handle some of the
work load.

I don’t think people realize how many people are working
in the organization and how hard it is to keep track. This
is why I need more people in operations.

Also, I obviously am paying people—which requires
money. Where does the money come from? The lottery?
Grants from the United States? The universe? NO,
it comes from sales of my courses.

For everyone who gets mad at me selling things, they
have no idea how an organization really works. You take
revenue and then turn around and invest it in a whole
bunch of things and people.

Anyway, let’s talk about today’s topic.

Today I want to talk to you about:

AN 11 LETTER MAGIC
BIPOLAR WORD!

Now, I know I’m always telling you
there are no magic words when it
comes to bipolar disorder, so before
you get out the rocks and start
stoning me, let me explain!

You will want to hear about this
word, believe me!

And you would never guess this
11 letter word, so I’ll just go ahead
and tell you what it is:

CONSISTENCY

Bet you’d have never guessed that
was the word, huh? But this one
word is magical in the sense that
when it comes to bipolar disorder
it carries a lot of power with it.

Just like the story of the tortoise
and the hare, and the lesson that
you learned about “slow and
steady wins the race,” you must
then follow it with consistency.

Consistency in the thesaurus
uses other synonyms for it, like:
symmetry, clearness, uniformity,
agreement, connection, tenacity,
and conformity.

I think I would add another
word to that list: balance.

In my courses I talk a lot
about having balance in
your life:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

One of the definitions of
consistency is persistence.

So if you put all that together,
you get someone who is
persistent in their goals,
who has a real connection
and conformity to their
treatment.

You see where I’m going
with this?

You need to be consistent
with your treatment to be
successful at managing
your bipolar disorder.

Actually, I’ll take it a
step further, and talk to
supporters – you have to
be consistent as well,
with your own “program”
your own regimen or
routine, so that you can
be successful as well.

Someone famous said,
“If you believe it, you
can achieve it.” But
you cannot achieve it
by sitting at home just
thinking about it.

You CAN achieve it by
using CONSISTENCY
and persistency, though!

Dave

Bipolar Disorder? What out for this too

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

I sure have a whole lot of things
to do today. I actually am speaking
tonight about bipolar disorder and
I have to get prepared.

Tomorrow I have a lot of things
to handle with my other businesses.

Anyway, I’m really concerned about something,
and I think you need to know about it as
well.

You know I volunteer at several places
where there are people with bipolar
disorder, like support groups and such.

Well, sometimes I like what I hear, and
then I bring that information to you,
because I think you can benefit from it.

But what is really bothering me today,
and I think it’s been building up and
I’m surprised I haven’t brought it up
before now, is something that I’ve
noticed happens at some of these
meetings that is NOT a good thing.

I’ll tell you about it:

It’s when people who have NO clue
about bipolar disorder give advice on
it – even though the advice is sincere,
it is still sincerely wrong! Now people
can truly get hurt by this advice, and
that makes me mad!

For instance, one person at the support
group meeting said, “My friend told me
that since I seem to be doing so much
better, that I should stop taking my
medications.” Then other people
say, yeah, my friend said the same
thing… and before you know it, this
one comment is controlling the whole
meeting, and it is a totally FALSE
thing – a LIE!

Then, when I try to tell them that
that comment can’t be true, or that
it could hurt them, or at least that
they should check with their doctor
before going off their medications,
they ALL look at me like I’m some
crazy person!

Know what I mean?

Or they say their friend told them to
stop working and get on disability.
Another person said that their friend
said that another friend said that they
should take this supplement on the
market instead of their medications,
that it worked for their friend’s friend!

In my courses and systems, I teach
the difference between the truth and
myths that are out there about bipolar
disorder:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

But I ask myself, where are these
people getting this stuff? And how
come people are believing it?

Really, sometimes I just want to walk
out of these meetings and just keep
going. But then I remember why I am
there – to help.

And sometimes that help is just to
tell them the truth about what their
“friends” have been telling them.

In my courses and in special reports,
I expose the myths behind the
supplements and supposed “cures”
for bipolar disorder. Unfortunately,
there is still no cure, no matter what
you may hear at a support group
meeting.

Even though these people are well
meaning, always check with your
doctor before you do anything like
taking a supplement instead of your
medications just because you heard
“a friend of a friend of a friend”
says it works.

Your friend,

Dave

Bipolar Disorder Warning. Don’t fall for this.

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

What’s new?

I hope you are doing really well
today.

You know, most of the time I get
emails that make me think I’m doing
a lot of good out there, that a lot of people
are reading my emails and are learning from
them and are feeling positive towards me and
towards the emails.

But I’ve got to tell you, I got this one email
this week that made me wonder about all of
that. Not as bad as wanting to shut down the
whole thing like I did that one time, but at
first, yeah, I did kind of feel down that bad,
thinking what am I doing, I’m not really
helping anyone, etc.

Here’s the email, so you can see for yourself
why I would feel that way:

“I have become more informed about the
disease. It has also succeeded in
making me more frightened about taking
on a significant other with bi-polar
disorder. In your e-mails I do not gain alot
“of positives” and after researching your site,
I’ve become very upset and leery about continuing my
relationship.” — Andrea

——————————————–

I felt so bad after reading that email! I mean,
I don’t want to be responsible for her being
more afraid about taking on a significant other
with bipolar disorder, or becoming very upset
and leery about continuing her relationship.

She also says that in my emails she doesn’t
gain a lot of positives, even after researching
my site. Now, this really bothers me, because
I always try to be uplifting and positive.

So I wracked my brain to try to think of
what she was talking about, or how she
could have gotten this impression.

The only thing I could think of is that
some of the things I talk about, yeah,
they can seem like they’re negative
things, but that’s only because I want
you to know the TRUTH, and sometimes
the truth, when you’re talking about
bipolar disorder, can seem negative.

But instead of thinking about it being
negative, like when I present them in
my courses, I present these issues as
being realistic, NOT negative:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

This isn’t just in my courses and
systems, either. It’s in my emails,
as you know. Like when I talked
about the Stockdale Paradox,
(I also talked about this in my
courses as well), where you hope
for the best but still be expected for
the worst, like another bipolar
episode.

I have a friend that looks at it this
way: You know the story about
the glass being half full/half empty,
right? If you see the glass as half
full, you’re an optimist. If you see
the glass as half empty, you’re an
optimist. Well, my friend says she
doesn’t see the glass as half full OR
half empty – she just sees a half a
glass of water. She is just a realist.

That’s what I’m talking about. I’m
not a negative person. Far from it.
But I am a realist. And I try to help
you to be a realist as well.

I don’t begin to think I can help this
woman in the email with her personal
relationship – I’m not a therapist, a
doctor, psychiatrist, or a marriage
counselor. In fact, if I were to respond
to her at all, I would advise her to go
to one of those professionals.

I would also remind her that every
case of bipolar disorder is different,
and I could not respond to her single
email and give advice, again, because
each case is different, so I just don’t
do that.

So, in my defense, and I hope you
would back me up on this, I am NOT
a negative person, and I try very hard
not to put negative stuff on my site or
on my emails – but I do print the truth.

Now, sometimes on the website, like
when I print the news, well, I can’t
help it that that might be negative.
But would you rather I didn’t print
the news?

The one thing I am is HONEST.
And sometimes that might come
across as negative, even though I don’t
mean for it to be. But would you
rather I sugar-coat the truth, or give
it to you honestly?

Tell me, please, am I completely
wrong on this? Am I misunder-
standing? Is this woman right
and I’m wrong? I’d really like to know.

Just one last point that I would say
to this woman in my own defense.
If I were so negative against bipolar
disorder, would I have hired so many
people who have the disorder to work
for me?

I’d really like to know what you think
about this.

Your Friend,

Dave
