My 32 year old daughter has been diagnosed with Bipolar during March 2009 after suffering with depression and terrible mood swings since she was 18! During April 1999 she and her dad were in a fatal vehicle accident where the vehicle landed in a water canal. Her father drowned and she miraculously escaped from the vehicle. After this incident she was never her old self again.
She tried to commit suicide (overdose of tablets / cutting her pulse) numerously – twice she nearly died from kidney & liver failure – she has numerous addictions (alcohol, gambling, prescription drugs, diet drugs, headache tablets, drugs (dagga, cocaine, crack, heroine).
She was treated for Depression all these years – in and out of hospitals, drug rehabs, was arrested 3 times and even spend a couple days in jail!
No-one knew what was wrong, including the doctors! Everyone was blaming her for everything. I kept on saying “something terrible is wrong, because this is not my lovely child and please don’t attack and blame her – lets try and find the course of all her destructive actions!” She is currently going through a divorce, because her husband gave up on her. I AGAIN WILL NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON HER – GOD TRUSTED ME ENOUGH TO GIVE HER TO ME – SO I’LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR HER!!!
My biggest worry at the moments is a court case (robbery) that’s hanging over her head!!! During November 2007, she and other friends robbed a place (while she was under the influence of alcohol & drugs) – afterwards she came to her senses, hand herself over to the police and gave the money back.
Is there any chance that this case can be withdrawn – because of her Bipolar? As you know – SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING – she’s a lovely person (inside and outside), a very caring mother with 2 small kids (4 & 5 years)!!! SHE FEELS TERRIBLE FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE – SHE’S NOT A CRIMINAL AND NEED ANOTHER CHANCE IN LIFE – SHE’LL NEVER COPE IN JAIL – SHE’S PREPARED TO DO COMMUNITY SERVICE OR ANYTHING ELSE AND TEFFIFIED OF GOING TO JAIL AS SHE HAD HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE OF WHAT’S HAPPENING THERE – PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!!
