  1. I have a huge problem – my boyfriend lost his insurance and can’t afford his meds anymore. I can’t afford to pay for them, they are $300/mo. Aren’t there any programs out there to help? He is disabled because of bipolar, and is awaiting his first disability check. He’s been off his meds for almost a week now. I am scared.

  2. My name is Jill and I know how you feel. I am a bipolar with addiction disorder, and two weeks ago I attempted suicide. Thank god my friend popped over and found me unconscious on the floor. I was rushed to the ER and had my stomach pumped then spent the next week and a half in psychiatric facility. First I recommend that you get in touch with a social worker in your area and apply for Medicaid, here in Louisiana if you are diagnosed as mentally disabled for 2 years or more then you are automatically approved for Medicaid. My medications would normally cost me $600 per month, with Medicaid I pay $3 per prescription, no matter what it is. Second go to the nearest ER if problems escalate. And third call your doctor, explain your situation and ask for samples until you can afford your prescriptions. Finally, keep being a strong and positive influence this will only benefit your boyfriend and yourself. Best wishes in life and love.
