  1. I visited todays bipolar news website. I am scared and quite stressed about what I’ve read. For the most part the bipolar news isn’t any better than reading the everyday news…murder, violence and anger mixed with a tiny bit of good news. However, the article about the Tennessean family whose father/husband was so violent and abusive has hit so close to home for me I am sitting here in tears! Now that a counselor has diagnosed my spouse with bipolar, he didn’t continue the counseling or seek treatment but instead pursued a career as a professional pilot. In that type of career you cannot be on ANY type of medication or they deny you a license. He has several pilot licenses but after one particularly bad episode (I didn’t know he was bipolar at the time!) I decided I would never fly with him again and would not allow my child to fly with him either. My husband was arrested for aiming to punch me in the face but hitting my arm instead and then blocking the doorway of my home office so that I could not get away from him. I calmly walked to the living room and called 911. Instead of sending an ambulance (taking him away in a white jacket in an ambulance as I though they would!) the police came despite my explanation of his illness over the phone. They in turn arrested him but did not take him to a hospital. By then he was calm and of course sorry for his behavior. My difficulty is in deciphering what is abuse and illness in his behavior and I am quite scared for the next episode despite his attempt at treatment. I understand why she didn’t call the police entirely…I am not unhappy with the police for arresting my spouse to protect me that is their job. However, it taught me a valuable future lesson…I simply ask for an ambulance to be sent to my home if there is a next time!

  2. I read similar article also named Current Bipolar News, and it was completely different. Personally, I agree with you more, because this article makes a little bit more sense for me
