  1. Using psychoactive drugs on children is risky at best. Many seem to have different chemistries that cause drugs to have unexpected consequences, eg Prozac can lead to suicides or suicide attempts. Just because a child is acting out, is no reason to drug them, but not even begin to deal with social factors that may be mediating the nuisance behaviour. Sometimes paying attention to children is all that is required. ADHD is not as common as some teachers would lead us to believe, some children may just need some good hard excercise, or may need some unstructured play time, in the fresh air, that would allow them to work things out for themselves. Only psychiatrists who specialize in pediatric issues should be permitted to prescribe the medications. It is of limited value to sedate a child for being active, and imaginative. If the teacher is failing, it is not the child’s fault.

  2. I truely aggree my son was on medication for aggresion he has autism, the doctor put him on a medication used for ADHD or ADD and it only made him worce.his teacher phoned me and ask about his behavure at home we both had more problems so I contacted the doctor and had him taken off medication.his behavure isnt great but its somthing we can live with.to often they think drugs is a mirical cure all but it can be bad weather its doctor perscribed or street drugs.whats wrong with a child being active, personally I would rather see him playing than watching tv or playing video games.children need to be active to be healthy.not all teachers are failing but their is a vast majority that take the easy way out.but my sons teacher has tought for 21 years and was more concerned about him.
