Confused? How to get help with bipolar disorder

How’s it going? I wanted to drop you a quick note. I just
got back from a speaking thing I did on Bipolar Disorder.

It went great. I was really happy. I spoke with two other
speakers who also did great. One person’s wife has
bipolar disorder. The other girl that spoke, had
bipolar disorder. And then there was me. I think I did
a good job :).

I took good notes and I am going to be emailing them
to you for f.ree over the next few days so it would
almost be like you were there with me. Lots of
good stuff for you related to bipolar disorder.

Okay be on the look at this.

One more thing, when I got back today and had a lot of
questions about my courses related to bipolar disorder.
I have three of them which are for three different groups.

Also, there was some confusion on the pricing for
the supporter course. It’s all fixed now.

Bipolar Disorder Lessons Discovered From Top Stuttering Furniture Sales person

Hi,

I discovered and was reminded a number of important
tactics and strategies related to supporting a
loved one with bipolar disorder from a top
furniture sales person that stuttered.

Keep reading I am going to tell you all the
details.

Let me tell you what happen. Over the last
2 weeks I have been looking for furniture.
I am tired of my desk draws falling off 🙂

Anyway, I decided to think how to get a great
deal on furniture. After like a week or so,
I invented a “Furniture Finding System.” If
you got any of my stuff you know I am a systems
kind of guy.

My furniture finding system is just as elaborate
as my doctor/therapist finding system for
bipolar disorder.

NO I am not trying to sell you furniture or
any kind of furniture finding system. I am
going to get to the lesson as it relates
to bipolar disorder now. Just keep reading.

Okay so I go to a bunch of places that are
terrible. The sales people run after me and
I try to avoid them like the plaque. I try
hard to slip into the store and never make
any eye contact with anyone. BUT, they
are hip to that tactic and quickly always
find me.

Then they lay on the pressure and I leave.

I finally went to one place out of New Jersey
which was kind of far from me.

Don’t worry the bipolar disorder lesson is coming.

So I get into the store, and amazingly, I
can walk in without being attacked by furniture
sales people. I am totally amazed.

So I start looking around for some desks.
After about 15 minutes I am all excited because
I didn’t have to talk to a sales person. Then,
one comes up to me, and asks, “Could I help
you find something that works perfectly for
you?”

I was like hmmm, “okay.”

I am going to make a long story short. Basically
I spoke to this guy. He asked me:

EXACTLY what I wanted.
What I was going to do with it.
How I was going to use it
What I did for a living
How long I would be using it
What happen to my old desk
What didn’t I like about my old desk
etc.

He never spoke and just asked many inquisitive
questions.

Then he said I will be right back. After 5
minutes he came back and said, he knew
exactly what would be perfect for me.

He showed me a desk and it was perfect.

When I thought of the top furniture selling
man, I said, “Wow I can see why he sells
a lot of furniture and makes people happy.”

Most furniture sales people are horrible.
They don’t ask any questions.

Now let me bring this back around to bipolar
disorder and doctors and could be therapists
too.

Look at my mom’s old doctor

MOM’S OLD DOCTORS

Ask lots of questions….NO
Listen…NO
Involve family…NO
Seem to care…NO
Have an appointment more than 10 minutes or so…NO

No to be honest, all these things have been told to
me by my mom. So one may say, “Well she could be
lying about her old doctors.” Good point. AND,
when I first started helping her, I did
a careful investigation on how her old doctor
operated. He was a disaster. I found that with
me personally, he didn’t ask any questions, didn’t
listen to me, didn’t want to talk to me, didn’t
seem to care, never wanted to give me more than
5 minutes until I told him I would bring enough food
for two days and simply “camp out” in his parking
lot and we could do the meeting in 5 minute increments.

SIDE NOTE-This is always part of my strategy and
especially in my bipolar courses/systems. I call
it the “accommodating strategy.” My mom’s old
doctor never had any time. Never more than 5
minutes. So I told him that since he is
sooooooo busy I would help him out. I told
him I would bring 2 days worth of food. And
I would wait in the parking lot and we could
have 10 to 30 5 minute meetings and I would
keep track of where we left off each meeting
so when we started again, we could pick right
up were we left off.

I would say it in such a kind and considerate
manner. You are probably shocked aren’t you?
You probably think a guy like me would yell
him into submission 🙂

Anyway, that must have been so annoying for
him because all of a sudden his entire schedule
cleared and he could see me more a long time.

This is a good strategy to use in the mental
health area.

Okay, back to the story with the furniture
selling man.

I then found out the following. Since I am
always talking about bipolar disorder to see
if someone has bipolar disorder or has a loved
one with it. He didn’t. BUT, he use to work in
a mental health facility where he said
the facility completely mistreated people. He
said none of the doctors or therapists
cared about the patients.

He talked to me for 30 minutes or so about
what he saw and the mistakes loved ones made.

Guess what he said was the number one mistake
loved ones made when taking their loved one’s
to this facility?

Guess then scroll….

Don’t cheat! Guess then scroll…

They never followed up. They just dumped their
loved ones off at the facility or the state
mandated they go and they assumed the facility
would handle everything. BUT, this furniture
sales person said this was NOT the case.

He said, there were very few people who got
great care and actually got out of the facility
quickly.

He told me, those were the ones that had caretakers,
that followed up and complained. Demanded the best
service. These caretakers constantly checked
on their loved ones. They seemed like the knew
the laws and the staff was afraid of them.

Unfortunately, he said there were VERY
few of these people.

I told him about my 95-5 rule that I use
to virtually guarantee a doctor or therapist
will give the highest possible treatment
when helping a loved one with bipolar
disorder.

He said that my strategy was the same one
that he saw with the few people who were
able to get great care for their loved ones.

This furniture sales person said the hospital
had all kinds of people. Ones with schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder and other “serious” mental
disorders.

He said he was glad that he left and started
furniture. He said it was very depressing.

Here’s what we can learn from the furniture
selling man as related to bipolar disorder:

-Find a doctor/therapist that cares and will listen. If
yours doesn’t consider finding a new one that
does. My mom’s doctors NEVER listened or cared.
This created a disaster for her decade after
decade. And don’t forget about using the 95-5
rule that I talk about in my courses/systems.

-If you have bipolar disorder, get some people
to act as your supporters to help you get
better treatment and stay on track

-Look for the doctor/therapist who asks lots
of questions and does research into you. When
I asked my mom, she said NO doctors ever asked
her most of the questions her current doctor
asks her.

Think about this. If my mom has
been relatively stable for 2 years and doing
well and the current doctor asks a number of
questions and listens, and the older ones
never did. And she wasn’t stable most of the
time before, we can conclude that asking
questions, listening most be important.

-You and your loved one should do everything
in your power to NOT end up in mental health
facilities that are the kind of last resort
places. These are generally not regular hospitals
but places that people go that appear to be
questionable.

The ones you hear horror stories
about. I have found that people that constantly
have problems with bipolar disorder do not
follow any kind of system.

For some reason,
they think it’s a kind of game and don’t
take medication, don’t show up to the
doctor appointments, drink, and don’t
follow anything related to the concept
of a bipolar stability equation I talk about
in my courses/systems and then they do
something “crazy” or really bad and then
are required to go to places like this. Do
your best to NOT be one of them.

LAST IMPORTANT LESSON AND LISTEN CAREFULLY

Then I have to go.

Okay, I really generally avoid sales people
like the bird flu. After I met this guy,
I was reminded there are good people.

If you had a bad experience with a doctor
or therapist, remember there are good ones
out there. You have to find them. Don’t
condemn them all. Just like me and furniture,
I have had a lot of bad furniture sales people
but this guy was great. He was the best furniture
sales person I ever had to deal with.

Well that’s it for now, I have to run.

Catch you tomorrow. Oh tomorrow the bipolar
news is coming out.

How great doctors turn bad with bipolar disorder

Hi,

I really have to get going today but I wanted
to email you something that I was reminded
yesterday. I had someone who called me
and talked for a really long time. I was
trying to say, “Hey I have to go because
I have 53 things I have to do and I am
weeks behind in 3 different areas of my
life.”

The person kept on talking. I didn’t mind
because I was looking up some stuff related
to bipolar disorder and custody. Something I am
working on.

Anyway, this person said how he was referred
to a TOP doctor for his loved one. People always
ask me, “Have you ever heard of doctor such and such.”
99.9% percent of the time the answer is no. For
some reason people think a lot of these doctors are
as known as let’s say, Paris Hilton,
or those other celebrities that I always see written
about in those tabloids when I am in Shoprite buying food.

So I said no. He said, “Well he was suppose to be
incredible because…” The guy reeled off how the
doctor, and I can’t remember exactly what he said
but something like wrote 100 books, invented things,
fixed people, saved millions of kids from poverty,
made the old young again, fixed major parts of
humanity, wrote instructions for people with
bipolar disorder to completely manage their disorder,
etc. etc. etc.

Okay not exactly all that but you get the idea. He
said he did all these things. I have heard this
story so many times, I kind of just tune out a tad.

Anyway, he took his loved one to this doctor and
guess what happen after many months. GUESS then
scroll down….

His loved one got worse. He went into a super manic
bipolar episode according to this person. I don’t know
if it’s true but I have no reason to doubt this person.

The guy was all mad and wanted to know what kind of
doctors I listed in my bipolar supporter course.
When he asked, how many I listed and how I screened
them I said.

I list a total of ZERO. He asked me if I said zero
which seemed to have confused him. I explained
that I don’t have lists of doctors. I teach people
how to create their own lists of potential great
doctors AND most importantly how to keep
great and good doctors being great and good.

He said to me “huh?” I think at this point
he may have thought I was slightly crazy. So
I said, “Hey I have to go in 5 minutes, you’ve
been talking to me for 33 minutes. I only
have 24 hours in a day and I have to eat
and sleep and get lots of things done.”

He said sorry and I said okay. Here’s what
I found. I told him how I found the lists
of doctors online in the yellow pages
don’t work. Most of the good doctors don’t
show up on lists. So I teach how to create
your own list meeting your own criteria
that you select.

With my system you find all the doctors that
nobody else seems to be able to find. Why?
Most people are looking no the internet
and yellow pages for a doctor. Or taking
a referral. It seems everyone is shopping
for the same doctors.

We use to do this year after year after year.
If you asked my dad right now, he would
tell you how they put no time into finding
a doctor.

Anyway, I told this guy how half the battle
was finding a great doctor through the list
you create yourself. Then the next important
part was keeping the doctor on track.

I explained there is a ton to learn about how
to do this but it’s important. I explained how
I bet he dumped his loved over to the
doctor and the doctor was suppose to be good
so he figured everything would work out.

The guy said “oh well yea…isn’t that the
way it works?” I said no way. There are
so many things that a supporter has to
do to keep the doctor on track. If these
things are done, there is a great chance
the good or great doctor will wind
up appearing like he/she is a bad doctor
because your loved one will not get as
well as they could.

It’s kind of confusing but I hope that I
explained my point. The bottom line is,
you can’t just turn your loved one over
to a doctor, therapist, mental health
facility and assume they will be fixed
without you doing a number of things.

There’s a lot to learn. Either find
out from people around you or take a look
at my courses/systems for proven step by
step plans that I learned the really hard way.

How to get Free Training On How To Avoid Bipolar Episodes

Hi,

Today I am going to teach you about getting
F^REE training on how to avoid episodes from
bipolar disorder.

First, I wanted to tell you a few things.

1. I am going to be starting a kind of mentorship program
in several areas. I am not 100% sure how this is going
to work exactly. So far we have one person who is
probably going to be in the program for 20 year olds.
The program will consist of working with someone who
has bipolar disorder and knows how to manage it well.
She will be working with this person to provide guidance
in many areas.

Also, I will be paying for some doctor and therapy visits
as well.

In about the next month, I am going to be looking for
someone who is supporting one or more children with
bipolar disorder around the age of 10 years old. Right
now, this program will be offering for F^REE a lot of
support, paid doctor and therapist visits, contact
with various people throughout the country that are
experts in supporting children with bipolar disorder
and several other things.

Keep your eyes open if you are interested and this
will be coming out over the next month or so.

Okay on to today’s topic. I have been writing
about bipolar disorder and the episodes that
come from them over the last 10 days or so.

If you missed these daily emails, you can get
them by clicking on my blog at the end of this
email.

Today in this final installment of this email
series on bipolar disorder and episodes, I am
going to tell you how to get F^REE training
on how to avoid episodes from bipolar disorder.

Am I crazy? No. There is a way. I teach it in
my courses/systems. It’s really simple.

Here’s what you do, you look at the past episodes
that have occurred and then you overlap what
took place against the bipolar stability equation
that I wrote about last week in my daily email
and the same one I talk about in my courses/systems.

Remember the bipolar stability equation is all the
things that make someone stable. It’s different
for everyone and as you may remember, I pointed
out it consists of a number of things. These “things”,
which right now I am dead tired and can’t think of
another word besides things, combine together to
keep a person stable and doing well.

In my mom’s case, it took over almost 40 years
to figure out there was such a thing as a bipolar
stability equation. ALL the doctors and therapists
she had worked with never told her any of this. It
was actually me who did.

Anyway, with my mom and bipolar disorder, here are
some things her stability equation includes:
medication, therapy, sleep, exercise, NOT eating
fast foods or food with sugar, listening to calming
music before bed, church, NOT talking to friends with
problems, working, NOT watching mindless TV programs
and there are several other things.

She MUST do all these things. MUST. MUST. MUST. It’s
not an option.

Okay, so back to how to get the F^REE training. In
the case of my mom’s last episode which occurred like
a month or so again and lasted about 10 to 14 days,
here’s what I did.

I went back in history and I looked at her stability
equation and decided if she had been following it.
I was shocked what I found. Guess what I found?

Guess first then scroll down….

Don’t cheat. Guess. Scroll then…

Did you guess??? Keep scrolling…

SHE DID FOLLOW HALF OF WHAT SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO!

I was really kind of annoyed at her. She knew
better. At first my mom was like, “I have no
idea why I got into this episode.” She actually
convinced her doctor AND therapist that this
was one of those episodes that just happened
even though she was doing everything right.

SIDE NOTE: It’s true that if you have bipolar disorder
and do EVERYTHING right, you follow your stability
equation, you can go into an episode. This is a sad
fact. BUT, I must say, every time someone goes
into an episode and I am called to talk about it
and figure things out through one of my F^REE consultation
certificates for NON medical and NON legal questions
(because I am NOT a doctor or lawyer), I find people
violated 90% of the basics to maintaining stability.
EVERY TIME I found this.

I have never personally found someone who went into
a major bipolar disorder episode that did everything
right followed his/her bipolar stability equation.

Anyway back to that last point. So my mom’s doctor
and therapist actually thought she did do everything
right until I stepped in and got them the facts.

Then after a few days of trying to “pull one over
on me”, my mom finally admitted that she didn’t
follow everything and was sorry.

I told my mom about if she would have taken her
episodes from 35 and 40 years ago and figured
out what went wrong, she would have prevented
future episodes.

You may think this is simple and be disappointed
with my F^REE training concept but it works. I have
taught it in tons of other things in my
courses/systems to thousands of people now.

There’s a good quote:

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned
to repeat it.”

I will tell you something about me. People get really
annoyed at me because they say I dwell on the past. I
don’t but when you do consulting and run different
businesses, you find people make the same mistakes
over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I have seen companies I have consulted with, increase
in sales, then decrease in sales and then increase,
then decrease all by making the same mistakes over
and over in 10 year time period. It’s amazing to
me. And when you point it out to them, they get
all mad and say things like “I don’t look back
you have to move forward.” I roll my eyes in
my head and laugh inside.

When I started helping my mom, I saw the same thing.
I personally believe that studying history is very
important to avoid repeating past mistakes made.

The quote above comes from the writings of George
Santayana, a Spanish-born
American author from a long time ago. I forget when
actually.

You see what happen with our family, really my dad
and mom is they kept making the same exact mistakes
with bipolar disorder year after year for 38 years.
They never ever learned from anything. It was strange.
If you asked them today, they would both agree this
was a huge, gigantic mistake that basically destroyed
many parts of our family, my finances, their finances
and a whole bunch of relationships.

Well I have to take off for today. Have a good
day. Catch you tomorrow.

Another Big Warning About Bipolar Disorder Episodes

How’s it going? I have been thinking. I have two more emails
for this series about bipolar disorder and episodes. If you
missed the other emails, you can get the complete list of them
by visiting my blog. The link is below.

Today I wanted to tell you about something that I just really
learned in the last 30 days. Why did I just learn it in
the last 30 days? Well bipolar disorder is REALLY complicated
and so are the other mental illnesses. I am not all knowing
but learn as I go. I have a lot of knowledge but don’t
know everything.

Since I am actively supporting my mom, have 8 people
that have bipolar disorder who work for me, have at least
30 people that I do business with or are friends that
have loved ones with bipolar disorder, I am able to
learn a lot every day.

Well in the last month, I learned this and it was based
on my mom’s most recent episode. If you didn’t hear
or forgot, my mom went into a quick episode in the last
month or so. We caught it and it’s totally under control.

The entire ordeal took about 10 days instead of the normal
6 months in the old days. Because we have a tremendous
system in place we were able to catch the episode much
faster and then help my mom get back on track really quick.

Without a system, normally this would take 1 to 2 years.

Anyway, here is the big warning I was telling you about.
My mom told me BEFORE she started to go into the episode
she told her doctor and therapist but was ignored.

I didn’t believe her at first. Why? Well it’s because 50%
if not more of what she says during or closely after an
episode is not true. How do I know? I check and verify
everything quietly. Meaning if my mom says something,
I don’t run around and say “you’re lying” rather I
simply take it all in and go and check it out without
making a big scene.

Well I investigated her claim of telling the doctor
and therapist and it was true, she did. The doctor
was suppose to see her in 2 months and then after my
mom said she wasn’t feeling well wanted to see her in
2 weeks. The therapist at the time who was a new therapist
who was TERRIBLE, never changed his mind and wanted
to see her in 6 weeks. Which makes no sense to me.

Anyway, my mom pointed out that she told me that she
wasn’t feeling well either. I was thinking to my myself,
ME??? And I did nothing?” She said yes. Then I thought
long and hard and guess what…

SHE WAS RIGHT SHE DID KIND OF TELL ME

I remember one day I can’t remember what day, my mom
told me like 45 minutes of information and in the middle
of the 45 minutes of information, she said she didn’t
feel right. She might have said this for 1 minute
of the entire conversation.

I missed it.

When I looked back on all my mom’s episodes and talked
to my dad and my mom’s mom or my grandmother. We all can
remember there were times my mom said she wasn’t feeling well.
And then went into an episode.

In her 2004 episode which was the big one you have read
about if you read my course/system descriptions, she
asked to be put in the hospital but the doctor
didn’t do it. She actually asked the doctor and he didn’t
do it. Although 80% of what she told me around this
time was not true, that statement was true. She did
ask but the doctor did nothing which lead to the
gigantic episode I have written about.

Here’s the deal. First let me say this, if you have
bipolar disorder and you are in and out of episodes
and wind up making things up, it really hard for people
to believe you with anything. Right now, I would say
95% of my mom’s friends and family will not believe
anything she says. It’s sad but true. She thinks
it’s not fair.

I have a system of being able to determine what is true
and not true. Generally my mom always will come to me
to get a message to others because she knows people
will believe me if I say it’s true.

NOTE-If you want to know what my system is, it’s hard
to explain and I can’t do it hear because that’s not
the focus of this email. Some have recently gotten mad
at me for holding back on things. Hmmm. Since I have
spent more than $20,000 producing all this free stuff
I would say that I haven’t held back too much :).

Not to mention I volunteer in THREE mental illness
groups and I provide more for free than all of them
do combined in a year. AND this is not because of me,
it’s because of the INCREDIBLE and I mean INCREDIBLE
team that I have. I have so many good people that work
for me it’s amazing. Super smart. Very good.
Way better editors than me :). When you look at what
you get from me, everything all the courses, all the material,
it’s because of a joint team effort. My team is the
best.

So to be clear on what the warning is, it’s multifold:

-A person with bipolar disorder can go into an episode
and can let people know. You have to really pick up
on it. It’s tough. Like my mom, many people will not
scream and yell I am going into an episode call the
doctor but will say something that is subtle. You have
to pick up on it. I have a bunch of forms and checklists
I use to figure this out for myself. If you have my
course I use the same ones in my bipolar supporter
course.

-Many doctors and therapists will not take people with
bipolar disorder seriously. It’s sad but true. So
if a person with bipolar disorder wants to be seen,
you the supporter may have to demand it. You may
have to get tough on these mental health people.

-If you have bipolar disorder, and you have told a number
of lies because you were in episodes, you are going to
find it difficult to get people to believe anything
you say. It’s sad but true. This is another reason
you always want to make sure you are staying stable and
doing EVERYTHING NOT just a few of the things you need
to do to stay stable. Pay attention to my stability
equation that I spoke about via email last week or the
one in my bipolar disorder success course.

-Don’t think the mental health system or people in
the mental health system make all the right choices.
Generally I have found, they don’t. So if your loved
one with bipolar disorder wants to been seen and
the doctor/therapist doesn’t have them seen right
away, don’t assume things probably aren’t that bad
because if they were, they would see them right
away. This is a wrong assumption. How do I know? We
assumed things like this all the time.

Keep in mind, my mom was suppose to be seeing her doctor
in 2 months when her episode first started. My mom contacted
her and she changed 2 months to 2 weeks. One might think,
well that make sense. In 7 days that occurred from the point
my mom talked, she turned into a completely different
person who was super angry, looked horrible, make
terrible threats, screamed, yelled, and created huge
problems in the family and made up the most terrible
things which people believe. For example, told my relatives
I was stopping her from going to church because I didn’t
believe in church. Imagine that.

There’s a lot to learn. I encourage you to do one of
two things. Either go out and really go and find
good information on bipolar disorder by finding people

Well that’s the warnings for the day. I hope you are learning
some things. Although these emails are not going to get
an “A” in English class, the content is what is important.
I work hard at this. I really do each morning so I hope
you enjoy them and they are helpful.

I have to run. I have a million things to do. Hey before
I go, look at this email it’s funny.

“Hi David Oliver, my name is danbi. I like your mails.
You help me with my sister. You information is very
good and helps me. You write like me and I like that.
Thank you and you are good friend.”

When I read this, I had to laugh. Danbi isn’t from
America and he thinks we write the same way I think
maybe I write a little better I hope :). LOL.

I really have to run. Catch you tomorrow.

Dave

Attention Students F^REE Offer For You

I have some good news today. I have been working out something
to help students doing projects related to bipolar disorder.

I have had a number of them get my supporter course
at www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11 or some say
they had questions for a project not related to
what the course contains.

I have been thinking about this for some time. So I decided
to offer students a way to:

Interview me for up to an hour over the phone
Get a f.ree transcript of the interview
Get a f.ree recording of the interview

The Hipaa Law And Bipolar Disorder

Hi,

Today I wanted to send a quick email about the
Hipaa law in the United States. This is a
super complicated law that virtually nobody
understands that is suppose to protect the
privacy of a person with a medical condition.

In the case of bipolar disorder, it creates
a situation where a doctor or therapist or
anyone else can NOT, and I repeat can NOT,
give a caregiver information about his/her
loved one’s treatment or condition.

So this law makes helping someone with
bipolar disorder tough. There is a quick
and simple solution that generally does
NOT work. That’s right, it generally
does NOT work but I will tell you anyway.

The solution is the Medical Information Release
Authorization which can be used with loved one’s
with Bipolar Disorder.

The Medical Information Release Authorization is
a form that one with bipolar disorder should have
signed in advance (when they are not in an episode)
and have on file, which gives you permission to
contact your loved one’s doctor (therapist/psychiatrist)
when they are in an episode, and get and give
information on your loved one’s condition.

That’s a really simple explanation of what it can do
for you and your loved one with bipolar disorder.

A Power of Attorney is another form that your loved one
with bipolar disorder should also have signed in
advance and have on file. It is a legal document
that authorizes someone you trust to take action on
your behalf. That means a designated person can sign
checks for someone with let’s say bipolar disorder,
help get Disability benefits started for someone with
bipolar disorder, make medical and financial decisions
for someone with bipolar disorder, and more.

HERE’S THE BIG PROBLEM WITH THESE FORMS AND WHY
THEY DON’T WORK FOR SUPPORTERS

The problem is, generally people who find my site
and get to me, have loved one with bipolar disorder
who are totally out of control and will not sign
any forms.

Then when a person tries to call a hospital, doctor,
therapist, etc. about their loved one, they are told
they can’t get any information because no release
has been signed. Then people go around in circles
trying to get information and help their loved one
with bipolar disorder only to have their efforts
stopped.

This happened to me in the beginning. I got super
mad about the fact my mom’s first terrible and lazy
doctor wouldn’t tell me anything.

Then I changed my attitude after talking to a friend
who actually has nothing to do with bipolar disorder
but he inspired me to look for loop holes in the
system.

So I studied and brainstormed and found all the loop
holes in these policies so that I could talk to
my mom’s medical people even if no releases were
signed.

I must say, these strategies are complicated and
require study and reading. I can’t write it
all out here. Actually, I have a presentation
on it as well. It’s in my supporter courses.

If you need help do one of two things. Change
your attitude try to figure out “Work around”
or “loop holes” in the system OR simply get
my course if you want to because I cover all
of this.

NOTE-This is NOT legal advice or medical advice
because I am NOT an attorney and I am NOT a
doctor. Please understand this is information
and you should take every single thing
that I say and check with your doctors, lawyers,
therapists, etc.

Another Mistake Supporters Make With Bipolar Episodes

Hi,

I have a super important thing to tell you about concerning
bipolar disorder and episodes. It’s a big warning. I am
serious and not kidding.

BUT, hey before I get started. Thank you everyone who pointed
out the errors on my applications for people I am looking
to hire for paid positions with this organization. Also,
the deadline for getting in your application has been
extended by 3 weeks.

Also really quick. I got a zillion phone calls (okay
not that many and yes I know a zillion is not a real
number), saying our shoppingcart for our bipolar disorder
courses was not working. The problem was fixed last night.
Thank you everyone who reported it to me.

Okay, to the main bipolar disorder lesson.

This week we have been talking about bipolar disorder and
episodes that people with bipolar disorder have.

I wanted to add probably two more things to this series
of emails. I will be sending them over the next couple
of days. BUT I might think of something else so it
make run a few more days.

Okay, we talked about what Bipolar episodes are,
ways to prevent them, what the consequences of
bipolar episodes are on the person with bipolar disorder
and family members but there’s some other important stuff.

One of the biggest mistakes supporters can make when
dealing with a loved one’s bipolar disorder is trying
to argue with or figure out why a person in an episode
with bipolar disorder is doing and saying certain things.

THIS IS A HUGE MISTAKE THAT I’VE MADE

What do I mean about this? First, let me remind
you that bipolar disorder is a MOOD DISORDER and mental
illness. So when a person with bipolar disorder, is NOT
stability he or she can say and do things they normally
would not do.

The Churching going older woman who never swears, curses
or drinks….COULD scream, yell and curse like no one else

The good wife who is normally loving…COULD cheat on her spouse,
scream, yell and hurl curses like she has never done

The good father that always provided for his family…COULD
stop working, demand a divorce, leave the house and vanish.

The person who just got married to someone with bipolar
disorder and everything was going 100% great…COULD find
him/herselves the target of massive abuse with statements
like, “You’re out to get me”; “You don’t love me”; “I
never loved you”; “I hate you’; “You hate me”; “I need
space”; “I want a divorce”; “I am not attracted to you”
etc.

NOTE-I have no idea how to separate all those statements
in a sentence, I probably will get 15 people email me
I should use semi colons, or I should but I did it wrong
and where in the world did I go to school :). Hey it’s
the info you want right? Okay back to the lesson…

The reason that people COULD find these things happening
is because bipolar disorder is a mood disorder and a mental
illness (hey isn’t he repeating himself?). So this means
if a person is not stable is not going through the
right treatment he/she can do and say stuff normally
not said.

Here’s where the supporter causes huge problems for
him/herself. If you are a supporter and you sit and
try to figure out why are these things being said
to you and what you did to deserve them, you will…
well before I get to that read on….

If you spend hours trying to figure out why stuff is said…

If you spend hours trying to figure out what you could have
done so things weren’t said….

If you try to bend and change to accommodate your loved one
during these bipolar disorder episodes…

If you spend time talking to others about why these
things are said to you and how you can be a better person
so that your loved one with bipolar disorder stops
saying these things….

You know what will happen???? Scroll down for the answer
but first take a GUESS. Don’t cheat.

SCROLL What’s your guess??

KEEP SCROLLING

YOU’ll GO INSANE! You will drive yourself
totally out of your mind. If you are trying
to do any of these strategies to help your loved
one, you are totally on the wrong track. If would
be like if you are in Texas in the United States
and you want to get to Canada which is north of the
United States and you started WALKING south. You
wouldn’t get to Canada. You would walk into the
ocean and get wet :).

So many people do these things and it leads to
the supporters having a melt down themselves.
A melt down caused from a loved one’s bipolar
disorder and following a strategy that is not
right.

You start spending time on the wrong things
and then you don’t have time to spend on the
right things.

How do I know???? Because I did this. And so
did all the other supporters I know. We all did
it and we all have concluded this is the wrong thing
to do.

When a loved one has bipolar disorder and is in
an episode, you don’t want to argue with him/her,
you don’t want to understand why they are saying
what they are saying. You need to get them
into treatment ASAP.

All energy must be focused on getting a loved
one with bipolar disorder who is in an episode
into treatment NOT focusing on what I talked
about.

Back in the day, I would spend 5 to 8 hours a
day arguing with my mom or trying to explain
to her what she was thinking was not right.
It was a huge, gigantic, monumental waste
of time and energy. I thought that I was
going to have a stroke. I am not kidding.
The stress of trying to talk to someone
not in their right mind and reason with her
was destroying me.

You may need to read this email several times.
All this material is covered in my SUPPORTER
COURSES.

Anyway, if you need help in this area, check out
my courses. NOTE-If you don’t need help or
don’t want my courses, just don’t look at
them. I don’t want anyone to think I am pushing
stuff on them. I am just making my resources
available to you. If you are all set and have
all the plans and strategies you need, then
you don’t have to check them out.

But, how to get a loved one into treatment, how
to find a good doctor, how to deal with loved one’s
mood swings is in my supporter courses.
