Your Friend,

Dave

Avoid this huge bipolar disorder mistake or else

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hey, How’s it going? Happy Thursday. I hope you have a great
day.

On Sunday, I had a post on my blog before
I stopped all postings on my blog because
people were writing crazy posts. NOT the
woman below but other people.

I wanted to address a few things that this
person named “Dyeann” posted on my blog
because others have the same types of questions
so I figured I would send what I posted back.

She essentially said a few major points:

1. I was shaming my mother using her story
on my websites.

2. I was not being honest about the importance
of medication and bipolar disorder. That I was
over exaggerating.

So I posted back to her:

“To Dyeann,

I would like to say one other thing in reference to
the comment by dyeann:

“I find it in pretty poor taste, and sadly humiliating
and shaming of your mother.”

Actually Dyeann my mom has given me permission
on I believe 8 different occasions to use her story,
print the whole truth and educate people about the
realities of what happens with bipolar disorder.
Before I started this, I had my mom sign an agreement
and had her do so for several months afterwards.
She has read virtually EVERYTHING that I have written.

She is not going to be writing stuff on the internet
anytime soon. Why? She doesn’t have the time or the
desire. She is busy.

My mom feels (I am sure you think I am making this up :)),
that if she was given truthful information about
bipolar disorder she would not have wasted years
and years of her life.

My mom feels that we could all make up stuff,
lie for years, about what happens with bipolar disorder
and sugar coat what really happens and basically have
a situation where people get mislead for half if not
all their lives. But she feels this is wrong. This
is what happen to her. This is what happens to
MILLIONS of people everyday. They are not told the
truth about bipolar disorder.

Why do you think the suicide rate is so high? Many
say 20%.

With that said, I think I may even post the agreements
that I have signed from my mom to use her story and to
freely talk about what happen. Yes, I have gotten that
and gotten every year since I started. In addition
both her doctor and therapist are okay with my entire
website and feel that it society.

I would say every couple of months I get the “Dave you
are really mean, I can’t believe you take advantage of
your mom, you’re a terrible person, shame on you,
you’re going to hell, etc.) I’ve been doing this for
a while. I heard ever possible statement.

Finally, I find that there are people that want to go
to the end of the earth to tell people with bipolar disorder
things that are NOT best practices. Taking medication
is best practices.

I look at it this way. If someone in high school said
“can you give me the best practices or things most likely
to lead to business and personal success?” Imagine this
person continued to say, “should I drop out of school,
do drugs, drink all the time, hang out on the beach and
then try to become a successful in a career and personally?”
“Or should I stay in school, not take drugs, not drink all
the time, go to college, set goals, etc.”

I am sure you can guess what I would tell the person,
the second path. BUT, you can find people who did the
first path and did eventually become a success. But is
it likely? The answer is no. So I promote things that
are highly probable to help a person with
bipolar disorder–that equals finding a great doctor,
taking the medication as prescribed, and following a proper
treatment plan.

I am sure we find people who do everything possibly
wrong and do great. I never find them but I am sure a
few of them exist. There are people on my list that
swear that doing illegal drugs every single day is good
for you.

As I write this, I think of the few remaining people
that I know who smoke cigarettes. Each will cite that
they know one person who smoke 10 packs a day for 50 years
and lived over 100. I laugh when I hear this because
obviously smoking leads to early death. Even though die
hard smokers want to tell you how it doesn’t, they want
to tell you about that one person, they want to tell
you about the statistical outlier–the person who
deviates from the norm. They all know people who
smoke tons and live a long time. They want to talk
about the smoking urban legend–the one who smokes
all the time for decades and is in great health.

You probably aren’t going to like my newsletter
because I am not going to tell you what you want
to hear. That’s not my job and that’s not my goal.

It’s comforting to know some like what I say with
all the errors you mention because I now have over
220,000 sign ups and I believe over 7,000 testimonials.

http://www.bipolarcentral.com/testimonials

You are right, I could spend more time on the newsletter.
I could spend hours on it a day but I have a long list of
things to do and I committed so spending no more than 1
hour per day 365 days a year to the newsletter. I can’t
do any more when it comes to the newsletter. Sorry.

Enjoy your day.”

I think that not only does Dyeann have these questions but
others do as well. That’s why I sent out my reply.

You will find that in every case a person was
doing poorly with bipolar disorder, many times
for YEARS and medication was the thing that
started to get them back into society.

Story after story. Get my courses/systems
and listen for yourself. I don’t make this stuff
up. You can hear with your own ears.

I have people that work for me that didn’t
take medication seriously or consistently
and for DECADES and attempted suicide up to
8 times, were homeless, bankrupt, married
up to 5 times, lost all their friends and many
family members. I could go on and on but
you get the idea.

The reason why I talk about medication and
bipolar disorder is because it works. I don’t talk
about stuff that I haven’t seen work.

I don’t even understand why there is a debate.
There is no debate.

The sad fact is, people who get off their
medication THINK they are fine many times.
The problem is they are not.

The other day, I spoke to a woman who said
that I broke into her house, stole her information
and ordered stuff and sent it to her. She really
believe that it was true. It took me 1 hour
to convince her it was impossible. She was NOT
on medication. She thought however she was totally
fine.

Remember bipolar disorder is a mental illness
a mood disorder and a person can think they are
fine when they aren’t even close to being stable.

Remember that.

Finally I will say, I have spoke to many people
who decided to get off medication who do fine for
a short time and then slowly get worse and then
eventually they crash.

In my head I can think of so many people that called
and mocked me saying, “I am okay, you have no
clue.” Then I found out these people lost everything
in less than a year.

I don’t make this stuff up. Get my courses and you’ll
hear the same thing.

But in my courses/systems not only do you hear about
how you need medication you’ll hear that there are many
other things that go along with living with bipolar
disorder yourself or being a good supporter. There’s a
bunch to learn. Unfortunately most people learn the
hard way. Smart people learn the easier way. They
learn from others.

Dave

F.ree Book and Make Sure You Do This With A Bipolar Doctor

Hi,

How’s it going?

I hope you are doing well.

Today I have a really bad sore throat–
probably from all the stress I have been
under 🙂

I am going to make this relatively short.

I wanted to make you aware of my book:

“An Overview of Mental Disorders”

You can get it for F.ree by visiting the
following site:

http://www.bipolarcentral.com/overview_of_mental_disorders/

Okay, today I want to talk to you about

SPEAKING UP!!!

Not just to anyone, but to your
doctor. This can be to your doctor
who handles your bipolar disorder,
your family physician, or really it can
apply to any doctor you see.

For supporters, this can apply to you
as well.

First of all, you need to ask yourself,
does your doctor really know you?

How much have you really told him
or her about yourself and your
disorder, your life, and how it’s
affecting you and your family?

Many people aren’t really that
comfortable talking with their doctors
because sharing personal health or
psychiatric information makes them
feel vulnerable, intimated, or
embarrassed (or all three). But this
can only hurt you in the long run.

Rosemary Browne, M.D., is asst.
professor of clinical medicine at the
University of Arizona, Tucson. She
says, “As physicians, we are here to
provide help in any way we can, so
we need to know what’s on your
mind, but we can’t read your mind.
The more forthright and direct you are,
the more we can help.”

See? She gives the doctor’s point of
view. They can’t help you if you
don’t SPEAK UP!!!

One thing I teach in my courses/
systems is, if you don’t feel
comfortable with your doctor, maybe
you should find another doctor. There
really are good doctors and bad doctors.

If you’re embarrassed and you just
need some help getting started, try
simply saying, “I’m really stressed
out and it’s interfering with my life.”

Or, “I’ve been experiencing some
mood changes recently.”

Or, “I’ve been having some trouble
sleeping lately.”

These are some ideas of conversation
starters with your doctor.

Maybe you’ve got some of your own?
If so, I’d like to hear them.

The key points you need to bring up
are:

-How your mood is affecting
your life

-Your ability to function

-Your eating habits

-Your sleeping habits

-How long you’ve been
experiencing these changes

-What worsens or helps your
state of mind (body)

-Whether you (or your family)
have a history of this

It’s also important to express your
concerns/worries.

I have to run.

Your friend,

Dave

Shocking bipolar disorder story of a person who attacked me

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? I hope you are doing well. Hey today I was suppose to talk about the
truth about using my mom’s story and how
she feels about it but I am going to do that
tomorrow or the next day. I hope you don’t mind.

I have a shocking bipolar story to tell you. Read on…

I am doing great! Yesterday two of my key people
that work for me came back and let me tell you,
in a very short period of time, they started
getting a huge amount done.

The number #1 thing that they did was focus
on how to deal with the handful of people
on my list that are creating all kinds of problems.
People who have:

-committed massive fraud

-said I broke into their houses and stole their
rent money, grocery money, etc.

-People saying that I owe them money for
“tools” they bought at Home Depot (Not only
do I not really know how to use tools well
but I certainly don’t sell any)

-People who threaten each other on the blog.
This is really alarming. The “don’t say that
or I will get you. Then oh yea, go ahead and
try” groups of people.

-People who use really, really, really, bad
language on the blog.

-People who have threaten to “get me”, “kill
me”, and all kinds of other things.

-People who keep giving my cell phone number
out in psychiatric hospitals around the country.

You might be reading this and thinking that I am
out of my mind because it all sounds so strange.
It really is. My friend said me, “Hey Dave, did
you ever think you would be dealing with the kinds
of things that you are dealing with?”

I said, “Yes.” Because I always knew and
always have been involved with a) things I like
b) things that are fun c) things that are challenging.

Dealing in mental health is all of what I listed.

Anyway, after hours of brainstorming
with these super smart individuals they formulated
a plan and a strategy. I must say I was super
impressed.

It’s amazing when you take individuals with
a mental illness that USE to be doing bad
things and get them focused on good things
for society.

I swear that the individual with one or more
mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder as
tremendous capacity and is smarter, more
creative and more capable than a regular person.

I know the doctors on my list will say, “Dave
that’s just not true. There are no studies to back
up what you say. Where’s the research?”

I understand that, I am just telling you what
I see in front of me—doctors may look for
research before they know something is
true or false. I go on the results that I see.

Maybe that’s why I am not a doctor.

On that note, let me say that again.

I am NOT a doctor, lawyer, financial advisor,
and I am NOT offering medical, legal, financial
or any other professional advice.

Okay, so we were making the system yesterday
so we will be allowing the posting of comments
to my daily bipolar emails on my bipolar blog
in the future after the new updated blog and new
system goes into place to deal with the handful
of people who are severely ill and posting threats.

So yesterday, after tons, and tons of research we
tracked down one person who was making attacks
against me. One person who was saying I stole from
them. One person who was writing the most disturbing
things and making up so many things.

I called the person to find out what was going on since
the person said that I owed him money.

Anyway, I got on phone and the person had an attitude
with me. I basically said you might as well forget about
getting f.ree money from me. The person said he would
go away if I sent him m.oney.

I was like, “I don’t care and I am reporting you so
don’t worry. You can keep on posting all kinds of things
and basically you aren’t hurting me, you are hurting those
who have a mental illness like bipolar disorder. You are
doing it by scaring those without one into believing
their loved ones will never get better. You are giving
the impression that those with a mental illness are crazy
and do crazy things. “

I told this person how many people who were worth
both bipolar supporters and bipolar survivors wrote me
personally and said how the posts were “crazy” and
how sad it was. Those with bipolar disorder were embarrassed
and those who were bipolar supporters said things like,
“Man, Dave I feel sorry for you. I would never want
to be you. I can’t imagine what it’s like to work with
people with bipolar disorder. I think my loved one
will never get better.”

I explained to this person how much damage posting
things like he does to society and not to me.

SIDE NOTE-I made it clear to anyone who called me
and suggested that anyone who works for me is in anyway
like the people who posted crazy things on my blog. They
are NOT. People that suggested this said sorry and understood.

Anyway then this guy was speaking to started to cry and say
sorry.

I asked if he was on medication and asked when he last saw
his doctor. He said that his doctor changed his bipolar medication
and now he isn’t feeling well or doing well.

I said, “you need to immediately call your doctor and go in for
an emergency visit. This is an emergency.”

He said the doctor is busy and one doctor threw him out of
the office. He told me that his wife left him, his family
will not return his calls. He has no friends or family.
He said that bill collectors call every day demanding
money but he doesn’t get any of the bills. He said
they all get lost.

I talk about how to handle when you have every single
thing going wrong because of bipolar disorder.

I you have lots of problems. I urge you to check out
my courses because the solutions to 99% of them
are in there whether you are a bipolar supporter
of an adult, a bipolar supporter of a teen or have
bipolar disorder yourself.

I have created solutions for so many situations no
matter how bad they are.

Oddly this person actually did get my course but he
said that it was stolen by the mail man—which is hard
for me to believe J

As he spoke to me, if he followed what was in my course
he would not be having a lot of these problems.

Anyway, he said how he is tired and bipolar has destroyed him
and he doesn’t know what to do.

I advised him to call the doctor. I told him I would
call for him and three way him in now. He said
he was really sorry and he would call and wanted
to call. I told him I would call right back in 7 minutes
to confirm that he called.

I also said to him. Do you want to help people?
Would you like to help people with this disorder?
He said yes. I said well I am invite you to call
your doctor, get well and then do an interview
with me about your experience and what mistakes
you’ve made so you can help others.

He said to me, “would you really want me to
do an interview?” I said “yes if you are stable
and can help people learn from your mistakes.”

He said okay and then I said okay will you
call the doctor now and promise to do so?

He said “yes.” I said, okay I will call you back
in 7 minutes to confirm your appointment.

I then explained what kind of language to use
to ensure he would get in ASAP.

I gave him a fail safe of calling 911 (emergency
services) as well. I asked him if he understood
and asked him if he promised to call if he
felt suicidal.

He said “yes.” He said “thank you, and I am
sorry I said all that stuff about you. I can’t
believe you care about me.”

I said “don’t worry about it.” Just go ahead
and make that call to your doctor and I will
call you back.

He said okay. I called back 7 minutes later
and he said he had the appointment and thanked
me. I told him I would check up on him to
see how he was doing afterwards.

This was a sad story of a person who really
has no support. He alienated his entire
family. He was basically sitting in an apartment
just barely existing and must have found
my website and then targeted me.

Hopefully his doctor will be able to modify
his medication very quickly so he can get
stable quickly.

It’s also interesting to note that he said a change
in his medication made him “feel” worse. I am
not sure if this is true or false. But he also did
indicate that he never told the doctor.

In these cases, it’s hard to know the exact truth.
Many times a person in an episode thinks something
is true when it’s not. It’s just hard to tell without
doing a comprehensive investigation.

The bottom line is that a change in medication can
create problems and you and your loved one need to
keep a good doctor posted every step of the way on
what’s going on.

Never forget that.

I hope the person who was attacking me can
become one of my success stories. There are
several people who have attacked me and then
a year later have come back and become my
friends. I don’t hold a grudge J

Hey, I just looked at the clock, I have to run.

Catch you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

Dave

Important Update About My Bipolar Blog

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=
Hi,

How’s it going?

Yesterday I took my mom out to brunch (which is something
they have between breakfast and lunch for our international
readers).

Unfortunately yesterday I was really annoyed.

Why?

Before I tell you why, make sure you
download this document (I will talk more
about it later on):

http://www.bipolarcentral.com/testimonials/

Well it wasn’t because it was Mothers Day. I was
telling my mom that there are a few people
that are getting totally out of control.

My mom asked “why?” I said I don’t know.
Maybe it’s because it’s a full moon.

Oddly, I have spoken to several friends in
several different areas–one works at Staples
an office store. Others are teachers. One is
a social worker. One is a sales person.

I swear, all of them have had hard weeks
dealing with nightmare customers, students
and as one said, “crazy people.”

My friend who is a teacher said that in
one day at her school–food fights broke
out, 20 teachers called out sick, there were
regular fights, students painted stuff on
a tree and other very strange things.

Anyway, I was telling my mom that I think
that it’s maybe like a cycle and it will
go away. Also I told her how it’s a super
small percentage but that percentage
creates major problems.

I was telling her how virtually no one
in society wants to deal with people like
this. I am talking about the worst of the
worst. There is one person that actually
called me on my cell phone and does so
repeatedly and is seriously one of the
worst people I have ever had to deal with.

She said, “yea I don’t either. I can’t
believe how much you put up with.” Then
my mom explained how she never ever goes to
support groups and it’s because she went to
one and one person their was really ill and
yelling made her afraid.

I told her, “mom, that’s why I never wanted
this to evolve into other groups online where
you see almost total lawlessness–anarchy.”

She agreed. I told her how people had been
posting terrible things on the blog but I wasn’t
sure what to do.

She recommended that I shut it down for now.
I said, “well I don’t want to do that.” She
said that I should. She said that my own
health is not worth the blog.

I said good point. So then we just had a normal
Mother’s day.

I then called several people who work for me
and told them the problem. One said, “yea that’s
why I avoid support groups like the plague. Your
stuff is so positive, it’s too bad a few people
are going to ruin it.” The person I was talking
to started subscribing years ago and was not
doing well and now is totally high functioning.

This person said that they too went to a bipolar
support group and had the same problem.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
I am not trying to beat up on bipolar support
groups. I volunteer at 3 of them and have been doing
so longer than I have been doing this online. I still
do it. But the reality is the reality. Many times
the groups turn super negative. I have seen it
time and time again along with many other people
I know in this field.

So yesterday my mom and others universally agreed
that I should stop allowing the posting of new
comments until a new system is developed to deal
with that small percentage of people who are
posting horrible things.

So yesterday at about 4:00pm Eastern Time, I
asked Andrea for the process to do this and it
was done.

So for now, no more posting comments until a new
system is made on how to deal with it.

Michele Soloway is coming back today along with
a number of other folks that work for me.

We are going to be brainstorming possibilities.

-We may have moderated comments (which means
someone has to approve comments to the blog).
I can’t afford to pay someone to read blog comments
all day so it would have to be a volunteer position.
If you are interested email me at feedbacktodave@mental
healthworld.net

-We may never have comments again.

-We might have to have comments tracked by ip
address and then attempt to report people who
make all kinds of threats to various police
departments around the world. Again, this would
require one person handling this and I can’t afford
to pay someone.

-Michele has other ideas well.

I was kind of sad. I was thinking in my head about
the expression, “A few bad apples spoil the bunch.”

It personally makes me mad that a few people, some
of which I know and absolutely know they should be taking
their medication make all kinds of threats and cause
all kinds of problems.

Then I got to thinking why so many mental health organizations
just shut the door. People like this are one reason. I got
to thinking why police don’t want to deal with those with
a mental illness. People like this are one reason. I got
to thinking why people at the hospital don’t want to
deal with people like this. I got to thinking how so
many people in society no matter how good they are,
do NOT and I repeat do NOT want to deal with a person
who has a major disorder like bipolar disorder and
is not undergoing proper treatment.

As one police man put it, “I’ll do anything to not have
to take those calls.” Those calls meaning a call with
someone who is an a major episode and has bipolar disorder.

In my courses/systems below:

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

I talk about comprehensive systems to not only get
a loved one into treatment, but help the loved
one understand they need treatment.

Getting treatment is just one thing that needs
to be done in a long list of things.

If you or your loved one aren’t doing well with
bipolar disorder, I would urge you to take
action and do something positive. Either spend
a concentrated amount of time for a long time
to learn what I learned or get my material.

My material isn’t a cost, it’s an investment.
I know people will say, “oh Dave, of course you’re
going to say that.” I am telling the truth.

It’s like anything if you want to master it,
you have to get knowledge. You either learn on
your own or you make an investment in books, manuals,
guides, seminars, college courses, etc. It’s shocking
to me how people don’t understand this in the mental
health field.

There are people I have talked to that will think
that buying a bigger car, taking a vacation,
buying new clothes is more important than investing
in themselves or information for their loved one
or a doctor or a therapist.

I use to get into arguments with my dad about my
mom’s therapist. My dad called it “expensive.”
I would tell him a million and one times that it’s
not a cost it’s an investment. He would be like, “that’s
easy for you to say.” Then at one point my mom stopped
going and guess what happen? My mom went into an episode
and if you took the small cost of her therapist it was
LESS THAN and I repeat LESS THAN the cost of being
a bipolar episode for 2 weeks.

If you know anything about bipolar disorder episodes,
things happen so fast and tremendous damage can be done
over night.

Tomorrow I am going to be addresses a comment
I got from a women who basically says that my emails
have spelling errors (which I doubt since I do run
spell check), grammar errors (which is absolutely true)
and typos (which true as well) and that I basically
disrespecting my mom because I post in this women’s
opinion negative things about my mom.

If you have been on my list, you know exactly what
I am going to say tomorrow about all of this. Because
you know others have said this in the past and you’ll
know how I am going to respond.

Also, I work really hard at this. It’s obvious that
I don’t run this through editors before I send it
out? Well let’s think about it. If I write it every
morning and have no more than 1 hour, how could I
get it to an editor I sent it out? The answer is,
I couldn’t.

I hope you can appreciate the fact I do this every
day and it takes time. I can’t spend more time
getting it to an editor, putting pressure on an
editor to get it back to me and then sending it.

The bottom line is that lots of people like this
entire concept. Positive people like my daily
emails. Negative people hate them and me.

I want to end on a positive note.

Take a look at the positive things people
are saying:
http://www.bipolarcentral.com/testimonials/

I am reminding people about this document again
because I received a number of emails from people
that said something like, “Dave I saw that blog
post. That person sounds like my wife. I don’t
want to be negative but I think my wife will
ever be right. She’ll never do well like
your mom. My wife will be like that crazy lady
who posted that comment on your blog.”

When I read that, it made me sad. I was sad
because people look at these people who post
insane things and then think there is no
hope for either themselves or their loved
ones.

I want to motivate and inspire you to believe
this is TOTALLY NOT TRUE. You or your loved one
with bipolar disorder can do well. Period.

I have over 220,000 people who have signed
up to my list. Many have graduated. They started
off either with themselves or their loved one’s
in terrible shape. Now they are doing great.

I have over I think 7000 success stories or testimonials
which you can see 5000 here:
http://www.bipolarcentral.com/testimonials/

Do NOT be discouraged with what a few bad apples so
to speak write.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted something
to me.

Catch you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

Dave

FAQs for weightloss and bipolar disorder program inside

Hi,

How’s it going?

Hope you had a great Mothers Day.

I wanted to send you answers to frequently

asked questions about my Amazing Fat Burning

Formula for those with bipolar disorder.

People have been asking me questions

about my offer called The Amazing

Fat Burning Formula for Bipolar Disorder.

I wanted to answer the questions that

I keep getting here:

1. Does this program recommend any stimulants

like epherdra?

A. No it doesn’t.

2. How is this different from other weight

loss programs.

A. It really is. It allows you to lose

weight and keep it off. Plus you can

still eat foods that you like. It’s really

unique.

3. Is this program complicated?

A. No it’s not. I have been using it

myself since 1998 and kept off

60 pounds. I have taught it to lots

of people with bipolar disorder.

4. Does your mom use this program?

A. No. My mom doesn’t need to lose

weight. She never had a problem with

her weight.

My dad on the other hand is very overweight.

He refuses to really do anything about it.

5. Does your program work?

My program works for people who review it,

and follow it. If you get it and do nothing

it will not work. My dad has access to it.

He has never read it or looked at it. It’s

sat on his desk for many years. He hasn’t

lost any weight 🙂

6. How does the f.ree trial work?

Basically you just pay the shipping and handling

and it’s sent to you for f.ree and then a month

later you’ll get charged. BUT you have a guarantee

after the f.ree trial period. Take a look

at this page for the complete details:

http://www.bipolarcentral.com/amazingfatburningformula/

7. This is a program that you can’t ever have junk food?

A. With my program, having junk food is critical.

8. Was there something wrong with your website

when you first launched it?

A. Yes. We had some problems. Some people

were confused. We had a couple of bugs. They

are all fixed now. If you looked at the site

and were confused, take a look again.

Here is the link:

I will catch you tomorrow.

Have a great night.

Happy Mothers Day and 3 “whys” with bipolar disorder

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? Happy Mothers Day if you are a mother. Much better day yesterday. I am going to write more about some of
the folks that I have dealt with recently
that are severely ill.

It’s unfortunate that a few people almost
ruin it for the entire group.

We have a much better system of dealing
with all the threats I face–blackmail,
death threats, attacks of various kinds,
etc.

Today I wanted to talk about several
whys and bipolar disorder.

Let’s look at a few.

1. Why people get off their medication.

My research finds that people get off their
medication for a combination of reasons.
Some feel they were bad but now they are
better or cured from bipolar disorder.

Some feel there is nothing wrong with them. Some
feel that medication is not making them any
better. Some have too many side effects.

If you have side effects, realize their
are lots of medication possibilities. Talk
to your doctor about your situation and he/she
can help find the right medication to reduce
or eliminate the side effects you can’t
tolerate.

If you get off your medication because you
think you are better and don’t need it,
you are wrong. Part of you being well is
medication. When you stop taking it, you take
away the very thing helping you be stable. Then
you go unstable and then can wind up doing and
saying all kinds of things that are terrible.
Remember there is no cure for bipolar disorder.

The kinds of things that 7 really bad people
said and did to me in the last week. People
who I have to call the police on. People who
are going to be in a whole bunch of trouble
with the law. People who have committed all kinds
of fraud and now have been found out.

If you don’t think you have any mental illness
at all and don’t think you need to take medication,
do yourself a favor and get a second and third
opinion before you self diagnose.

2. Why people don’t accept bipolar disorder.
I believe the reason is because it’s tough
to have bipolar disorder or a mental illness
in society.

People aren’t like, “hey you have bipolar,
wow that’s great. I want to hang out with
you and be your friend. Here’s a great job
as well.” It doesn’t work like that. There’s
tons of stigma in society which making acceptance
of a disorder that others frown down on hard
to do.

Also, it’s the kind of people I have dealt with
in the last week–people who are truly menaces
to society and cause all kinds of problems and destruction
that cause people to think negatively about those
with bipolar disorder.

I on the other hand have tons of great experience. When
I think of mental illness I think of a person being
smarter, more intelligent, more creative than people
without a mental illness. I have lots of people who
work for me who are high functioning and do great.
This is my experience. Other people have negative personal
experiences or read or see negative things about
those with a mental illness.

I will tell you, if someone heard 7 people I spoke
to last week that were just down right mean, they
would be worried about those with a mental illness.

This is why I urge those with a mental illness like
bipolar disorder and others to STAY ON their medications
and if they have any problems with their medications to
work with a great doctor to get the best one. The alternative
is to get off and then wind up doing absolutely insane things
and making it hard for the people in society that have
a mental illness that want people to think positively of
them.

3. Why do people say and do really mean things.
No one knows exactly but what is known is bipolar
disorder is a mood disorder. It alters the way
you think when you are not stable. So you can wind
up saying and doing things you normally would not.

Here’s some of what my mom has done when
she wasn’t stable:

-thrown a phone at me

-bought $1500 of groceries on a Monday
and thrown 80% of them away in same
day for months on end. Cost more than
$10,000.

-Said that my dad threw fork at her
when I saw the entire thing and this
was not true

-Screamed, yelled and threatened me over
the years. One time my mom threatened to
kill me when I was a kid.

All these things happen when my mom was not
stable. My mom is not like this. But if she
is not stable, not taking medication or
on the wrong medication this and more
is possible.

When you look at the headlines that are horrible,
you find the common denominator is that so and
so got off their medication and then did this really
bad thing.

I talk about how to not only get some to admit
they have the disorder, but to get them into treatment
I have found more than 20 ways to do this), and also
help a person feel better about the disorder and want
to accept it.

It takes time and you need a system. It’s taken me a lot
to put it together.

Anyway today I wanted to talk about these 8 whys
in depth and give you some “food” for thought.

I hope it was helpful.

Finally I want to say to anyone out there that
is not treating their bipolar disorder seriously.
Not only are you hurting yourself, but you are hurting
your family. You are making yourself look bad. There’s
nothing positive. If you aren’t getting proper treatment,
do yourself a favor and go ahead and go and see a
doctor and get back on track. I urge you to do so.

Okay, I have to take off to take my mom out for mothers
day. Have a great day!

Your Friend,

Dave

Bipolar Lesson. Life is NOT an Emergency

=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <= Hi, How’s it going? Bad day for me. I seriously have like 5 people with bipolar disorder
driving me insane on my list. They
email, call, email, call, email call. Each is
making things up that is beyond comprehension.

Even worse 30% of the time, some of them
are happy then mad. It alternates.

2 of them wanted to work for me? What
a strange thing.

What a week.

Sadly I see why so many people in this field
throw in the towel and go into other fields
with far less grief.

I also see why the turn over in organizations
that help those with these type of illnesses
is massive.

Anyway, I have to take off for a meeting.

Before I do, I wanted to talk about today’s
topic.

Here is a simple truth for you:

LIFE IS NOT AN EMERGENCY!

I’ve had hundreds of people who have
written or called me and they are so upset
and there is so much drama surrounding
them that you would think that to them,
life is an emergency! But as they go on
with their story, I see/hear that it is only
an emergency to them.

These people come to me for advice, but
they are so upset and so caught up in their
stories and what is going on in their lives
and their or their loved one’s bipolar disorder,
that they don’t even let me get a word in
edgewise.

Now, I’m just a third party, so of course,
whatever they’re telling me is not an
emergency for me. But even though they
wrote or called me for advice, they can’t get it,
because they won’t even stop long enough
to listen to me!

These people remind me of the Type A
personalities we hear of in business who
work 80 hours a week, who are so driven,
who have such high expectations, that if
they don’t meet that 80 hour work week,
that they have failed in some way. They
are always walking around like a chicken
with it’s head cut off, afraid that everything
won’t get done, because to them, everything
is an emergency!

I had a supporter who called me who was
like that. She was so upset over her inability
to be perfect that her doctor had prescribed
her anti-anxiety medicine. She was acting
(and feeling) like there was a gun pointed
at her head and the sniper was demanding
that everything she did as a supporter had
to be perfect – or else! Again, the silent
assumption was, this is an emergency!
The truth was, no one other than her had
created the pressure she was experiencing.

The truth is that:

LIFE IS NOT AN EMERGENCY!

In my courses/systems, I talk about and
teach ways to lower the stress in your
life, and that is a very important thing
to learn when you’re dealing with
bipolar disorder:

SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

SUPPORTING A CHILD/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.bipolarparenting.com

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?
Visit:
http://www.survivebipolar.net

I’m not saying that some of us
have never done it, sometimes
we’ve jumped to conclusions
before getting all the facts, and
maybe overreacted, making an
emergency out of something that
wasn’t, but not all the time!

Sometimes we take our own goals
so seriously that we forget to have
fun along the way, and we forget
to cut ourselves some slack. We
take simple things and turn them
into conditions for our own
happiness. Or, we beat ourselves
up if we can’t meet our self-created
deadlines.

The first step in becoming a less
stressed person is to have the
humility to admit that, in most
cases, you’re creating your own
emergencies. Life will usually
go on if things don’t go according
to plan.

John Lennon said, “Life is what
happens when you’re making other
plans.” I’m sure he would have
agreed that life is NOT an emergency.

You need to cut yourself some
slack. Remember that your goal is
to stay relaxed, to not get too
worked up or concerned about how
you are doing. As long as you’re
trying your best to be a good
supporter, then that’s all that
matters. No one is a perfect
supporter all the time.

Practice what you’ve learned,
keep your strategies in mind,
and don’t worry about being perfect.
There will be many times when you
lose it, when you revert to being
uptight, frustrated, stressed, and
reactive – get used to it.
When you do, it’s ok. Life is a
process – just one thing after another.
When you lose it, just start again.
It doesn’t mean that it has to be
an emergency, though!

You just don’t have to make
little setbacks into large
emergencies – cut yourself
some slack. Look at your
mistakes as learning experiences,
not emergencies.

All that’s important is that you do
your best and that you are moving
in the right direction. Keep your
perspective, be the best supporter
you can be, and eventually your
loved one will respond to your
support and will be able to mange
their bipolar disorder.

This way, you can learn to live
with your own imperfection,
give yourself a break, stop
trying to be perfect, and
remember that:

LIFE IS NOT AN EMERGENCY!

Dave

8 updates and Current Bipolar News

PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR FRIENDS

Hi,

How’s it going?

I decided on getting the news out
early today. Before I take off
for the gym.

A few things.

.5. (What’s .5? well I forgot something and didn’t
want to renumber. Sorry.)

People have asked me where all my programs are.
Here is a link to most of them. Not all of them
but most of them. I am working on having them
all in one spot.

http://www.bipolarcentral.com/catalog.asp

1. I am going to be doing a f.ree teleseminar
answering NON medical and NON legal questions
about bipolar disorder (since I am NOT a doctor,
therapist, financial advisor, circus worker (someone
asked), or dentist (someone wrote me their is a
famous David Oliver dentist. That’s not me).

I will keep you posted. We have this new technology
to make this happen. As soon as we work out some bugs
with the system I will send a notice.

2. I may have positions opening up in my consulting
company for hedge funds and investment banks (what
I do to support this organization), I will be possibly
sending a link to a small segment of my list. Since
my list has grown so big, if I send a job listing
out it get filled super fast.

3. We are expanding into Borderline Personality Disorder
(which my mom therapist thinks she has and my mom’s
doctor doesn’t feel it’s important for my mom to have
any other labels), along with schizophrenia. We have
a new person on the team with schizophrenia so we are
going to be writing articles in this area as well.
I will send you a link.

4. I am really tired today 🙂 It’s been a tough
week. We had a whole lot of difficulties to deal
with and three key people that work for me
are away. 2 are coming back on Monday so I
will have less stress.

5. I am going to be taking volunteers. Lots of people
want to volunteer but I don’t have a system to
keep track of everyone. Someone who works for
me that has 6 different disorders and is
SUPER SMART gave me the perfect idea. I will sending
it out and if you are interested in volunteering
let me know.

6. Lots of people are asking again if I am
a real person. Someone wrote me a long letter
saying I don’t have a mother. I actually called
my friend who is a scientist and asked if it’s
possible that you can not have a mother. I think
he thought I was totally out of my mind. Everyone
knows I do stuff in the mental health field and
when you ask random questions they think, “oh geeze,
he finally lost it. I feel bad for him.”

He said even if I was born in a lab which my
mom and dad swear I wasn’t that I would still
technically have a mother.

The other questions I get is if I am a real person.
I am confident that I am real person. I have even
meet subscribers in person. Many in New Jersey.
Some in New York. One in San Diego. One in
a book store in PA. One in CT.

Finally I am asked how I have the energy to
send all these emails every day. Well it’s hard.
There are days that I don’t feel like it. But
I just do it. I have gotten use to it. It’s now
part of my schedule like brushing your teeth.
It takes me up to an hour a day.

If you wonder why I sound stressed or rushed
well some days I am. It’s not automated. I type
each one first thing in the morning and
send it out. Imagine that you had to subtract
a hour from your morning every morning 365 days
a year–including holidays. You might be rushed
or stressed.

7. I have a goal of adding 20,400 articles
related to mental health on a site. Actually this idea
was presented to me years ago. It was really
expensive and way more than I wanted to invest.
The articles will be free to review, read, print
off, etc.

It’s a MASSIVE project. It will require up to
25 people working on it every week for a year.

Recently someone who works with me gave me
an amazing idea that will ultimately lead to
getting this done. I will keep you posted.

Hey I have to go.

Okay finally, Here’s the current bipolar news.

To see the news visit:
http://www.bipolarcentral.com/bipolarnews377

Here are some of the headlines:

Twice as many teens seek help for mental health
DO> Sometimes I think teens think having a mental
disorder is cool. Hmm. I am not sure if this is
good or bad.

Police get training on dealing with mentally ill
DO> Police are generally afraid of people with a
mental illness. I have lots of friends that are
police. One said they would rather go to Iraq then
go and deal with someone in an episode. I told him
dealing with people in an episode is not difficult.
He told me I was out of my mind 🙂

Signs of bipolar disorder
DO> You should now this but reread for a refresher
course.

Talking bipolar awareness
DO> Great article.
