  1. So on the news night before last they tell us that extreme violence occurs this time of year because spring triggers people with mental disorders to think that they are not feeling better and everyone else is. Okay I can see that. Then they tell us that if we know of someone that is prone to more violent reactions at this time of year that we should tell someone, WHO?????? Who do we tell???? If they haven’t done anything illegal the police don’t care. My daughter is in a criminal justice program at school and my greatest fear is that one day she will have a gun in her hand and it should never get there but there is NO ONE to tell that she reacts violently at times but especially this time of year.

  2. David,

Just wanted to share my suicide survival story. First of all, I want to say that I am so grateful that my suicide attempt was not a success.

It was 13 years ago. I had hit my bottom. I took a bottle of pills. I passed out. I woke up in my filth and cursed God for still being here. I can’t say that I had a spiritual experience, but my first thought was “There must be reason that I’m still here – that’s logical.”

Today, I’m under proper medication, I am happy in my career. My husband is great. My son is great. My daughter in law is great.

See what I would have missed. We may be bi-polar, but I know there’s a reason for that. Perhaps I’m supposed to teach someone how to be patient and understanding by having my disease. I know that I have alot to learn.

It was a difficult time of my life. I could have saved myself alot of pain.

Thanks for letting me share my story, David.

  3. Thank you for all your help. I just wanted to add theimportance of shopping around for medication. My son is on Risperidole, I have no insurance, Wallgreens and other places wanted 254.00 $ I found it at a local grocery store for 92.00$ !! So it’s worth the time.
Also, the more I’ve learned from this sight the more I realize my husband also has bipolar! The divorce issue really threw it in my face. He’s very calm and the episodes are far between but I reaaly see it now.

Thanks so much, you’ve changed my life

    Cheryl

  4. I thought I’d get your opinion since you have a bi-polar mother. My 24 year old daughter had a baby at 20. (She was 5 months pregnant before she told me) No father involved financially or emotionally etc. She has been bouncing around, living different places, and not working since my grand daughter was born. My husband and I are her only support. When my daughter is depressed she oftens says she “can’t go on living like this” and “what’s the point?” in front of her daughter. If she’s in a foul mood which is quite often, she will say she hates her child and hates being a mother etc. My question is do you think I should try to get custody or just keep explaining that mommy doesn’t mean the things she says, she’s just not feeling well? I’m thinking that my grand daughter has bipolar tendencies as she is alot like my daughter was when she was her age. I just want to try and do what’s best for her and wanted your opinion and anyone else that may have one.

  5. ive been supporter for 38years to wife who refuses to acknowledge her bipolar,or seek treatment.been like liveing in a zoo, with injured caged animal.
