my daughter has bipolar. She is really bad where she has to be in a group home. She has temper tantrums, hits people, lies. She sometimes has to be restrained by her workers. There doesn’t seem to be any medications that they can find to help her. I just know that I can’t help her nor do I have the funds. There aren’t any groups around here that I can get help for her.

So this is my story. My grandson is now 11 years old, he never slept a full night until age 6. only for his doctor of 6 years to then make diagnosis of ADHD! It really upset me that the dr. waited 6 years to tell us. So I changed drs. A behavior specialist informs us that tyler was also ocd,add. adhd, hyper,and split personality,plus odd. After one more dr. change to a child psychiatrist, Its not just a prescription, its now 6 different drugs and my child passed 5 grade with high honors and is in therapy once a month. don’t get me wrong this child broke 4 of my ribs over a bowl of oatmeal and 23 days in a facility. So its not just drugs ,its not just ignore it and it will go away. I contacted the biopolar site 2years ago and we are still going strong,with alot of work.He is worth every minute ,and I want to thank David who showed me that there is a light at the end of the very long tunnel
I live in England with my 21 year old Daughter. Over the last 2 years she has stopped working and become withdrawn and depressed. She stays in her bedroom most of the day. Just recently things came to head and she was very emotional and said she didn’t care for anyone and that she hated herself and would kill herself if she had a gun. Our doctor said he would come to the house and talk to her through the bedroom door if necessary but she insists that this dosen’t happen.
I don’t know what to do from here.
My bipolar problems are rather unusual…I had untreated Graves’ disease for about 5 years (normal diagnosis time is 3-6 months) this seems to have left me bipolar (I certainly have the debts!) I have lost friends and my husband of 35 years…no one can deal with me. Indeed I can not deal with myself and would also run away from me if only I could. I am acompletely different personality from the Gillian I use to be. It is a nightmare without end. I can not cope with life in the world outside, I am aggressive and impossible to live with but because my thyroid levels are normal my doctors all say I am now not ill anymore and they seem to completely ignore my mental state.

Thank you David for your e-mails. I have been with someone with bipolar for the past 11 years. We have a child together. I finally had to let go of him but I still try to understand about this illness. He can be the best father but he can also be the worst. We never know what we are going to get. Your e-mails have been extremely informative so thanks again.
