Your Friend,

Dave

  1. Thank you David for putting together the news weekly!! I really feel Christmas when I read articles like this and see that people are being generous. “Family with sick mother needs help this Christmas”

Merry Christmas and thank you for putting up with me this year as you shared your supportive views of BD. I pray all the best for you and your family. Many of us are blessed you are here. You are an ANGEL 🙂

  2. I don’t feel this is a real story of how one becomes Bipolar. Situations that happen in the instance of the moment don’t change your whole personality, I feel Bipolar is something that changes me entirely, and is something that has happened to me over time. Not just an instance, especially of a human body, get real, as they say … frank

  3. Thanks David! I have learned so much about my bipolar ,and because I am my own supporter(which gets a bit tricky on many occasion!)have learned tips to spot an episode and what triggers to watch for. I’ve discovered that when not doing soo well if I can sit still long enough to read an email from you or an news article it sometimes ‘soothes’my manic mind!! 🙂
The article about bipolar being an Illness of Excess made perfect sense to me and explains what ‘we’ with the disorder go through,in my casewith rapid cycling, often several times a day. Most people do not understand that not only is it frustrating to them but is ten times plus to us as it is so very difficult to ‘control’. With people like yourself, who is giving tried and true information and not the medical mumbo jumbo, who are helping make a huge difference in the lives of us who need to be understood. My Son is kinda sorta beginning to ‘get it’ but still doesn’t understand that is is a lifetime deal,he thinks if I’m okay one day that I am fixed, his heart is in the right place though. Your Mom is very lucky to have you for a Son! As are your friends,co-workers and other family members.Looking forward to your informative emails in 2008! Happy Holidays!(happy days when its all over 🙂 )

  4. They all are good news, I trust we can treat cure all the people’s illness now and let’s success continue, wish we will have better news in future and in 2008 best wishes to you :)))

  5. Dear Dave,

I want to thank you for your brilliant website….AMAZING!

It is a Treasure Trove of humour and inspiration (for those diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder and any one related to them) to help chase away the blues….in a non-traditional manner.

I love this site and come here every day for inspiration.

By the way! ‘Todays News’….Unbelievable. It had me howling with laughter. I am crying and my tummy aches! (In a good way). I haven’t laughed this hard in forever.

I look forward to continuing to recieve your posts.

    “Keep up the ‘BRILLIANT’ work!

Happy Happy Holidays to You and Yours.

    Evelyn

  6. Hi Dave..just wanted to tell you how very effective your e-mails are to give down-to-earth information in many areas for those who suffer the unasked for condition of BD.I have a wonderful friend who works hard daily to make a productive life for himself but seems to be constantly punished for his dis-ease, especially by his immediate biological family, who should certainly know better. They seem to have targeted him as the family scapegoat and constantly remind him that They certainly aren’t mentally ill. I could smack every one of them! Andrea Farrell

  7. I’ve been taking Zyprexa for almost 8 years, with a 3-month interruption of taking Seroquel because of the lawsuits facing Lilly and their drug. However, Seroquel had disastrous side-effects for me – including the draining of energy and spending more time in bed than out – so I was changed back to Zyprexa.

Though I weighed 115 pounds (5’9″) for more than 2 years on Zyprexa, when I went back on it – I gained 27 pounds! Why there wasn’t a significant weight gain on Zyprexa in the first four years I was on it, I can’t explain. I have lost four pounds since September, and still fit in my clothes.

My psychiatrist monitors my sugar blood levels every 3 months, and so far, I am NOT a candidate for diabetes. AND – I no longer look like a refugee!

The most revealing “side effect” of Zyprexa, is its cost. Even with insurance picking up the majority of the price, I end up paying roughly $150/month for it. According to the article in today’s news, it won’t go generic until 2011, which is REAL bad news.

Thank you, Dave, for an excellent variety of bipolar news. Your hard work really pays off.

BIG HUGS to all bipolar survivors and those who love them. My prayers are with you. Stay sane, and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  8. It took along time for me to become stable with my Bipolar, It was yrs before my doctor found the right medication, but now 4ys I’m on the right meds. It wasn’t till recently that I had a complete hysterectomy, and went right into menapause. I was going through so many changes quickly, that I couldn’t tell if it was Bipolar or menapause symptoms, they are so much the same. Moody, Irratable, Insomnia etc.., I was so afraid that I was having a Bipolar episode, then i looked up Menapause on the net, and found them to be very similiar, so i went to my doctor and he put me on hormones, and I started to feel better. If this subject has not been adressed, it should, it would be a great benefit.
