  1. Acts of kindness humanity one.
Yes it is very true it helps people in that faith and mentally, but when its not appreciated it takes a toll on you mentally and i hide it.
But it takes a toll on both sides, at times i’m told its over kill.

  2. THE HOLIDAY SEAON OF 2007 IS HALF WAY OVER AND LIKE OTHER HOLIDAYS SURROUNDED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IT HAS LEFT ME WEAK. HOW MANY TIMES CAN SOMEONE ANSWER HOW THEY FEEL? I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE WELL MEANNING BUT WHEN I HEAR THEM TALKING IT REALLY IS TO PITY ME. I ONLY ASK THEM TO ACCEPT MY HOSPITALITY NOT ACT AS THOUGH THEY ARE THE REINCARNATION OF FREUD. MY CHILDREN WERE GREAT AND SO WAS MY WIFE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO LOOK AHEAD OF WHAT IS HAPPENNING AND LOOK FOR BETTER TIMES AHEAD. I FEEL THAT THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY IS ONE HOLIDAY I WILL SIT OUT. jAMES

  3. Thank you for all that you do write about… 🙂 I am sure that it does require a great amount of time but the information you give is very helpful. Once again, thank you.

  4. In regard to the article “Once Diagnosed, Never Undiagnosed”. This is a very scary concept. And I loved Matts comments! Hurray! I agree, who decides what is normal? My daughter was a handful when she was growing up, but I never thought to put her on drugs because of it. She had seizures and was on meds for that, but her behavior was something we just dealt with. Now she has a son that has been diagnosed BP1, and I agree he has most of the symptoms, but it took two years to properly diagnose him, going through ADHD, OCB, and you name it. He was on quite a chemical cocktail and it was not working. Now on BP meds he’s got friends, and excellent grades in school and doing so much better! So, now my daughter is on BP meds and thinks she is BP2. She has most of the symtoms too (massive mood swings, etc.) and the meds are making quite a difference in her life also. But now they have diagnosed her daughter as BP2 in less than a day!! How absurd is that?? Who are these people that they can make a call like that with only one visit with her?? I don’t believe it, not for a minute! I’ve known this child her whole life and she is anything but BP! She has straight A’s, tons of friends, very happy and she had a one time problem and voila!! she’s bipolar! Matt has a really good point in questioning these “professionals” who wave the BP banner like it’s a cure all for kids who misbehave occasionally. What do they want, a bunch of little robots on drugs running around so parents don’t have to deal with anything unpleasant? I know BP is real, because my grandson has it, but that shouldn’t cause doctors to snap judgements on the other kids in the family!! OK, I’ve ranted on long enough. It may be that BP is hereditary, but I’m sure as I’m sitting here that it should take more than an hour with a child to slap that label on them! Labels can be dangerous, especially if the kid/person believes them. I would think that they could scar a person, if the person hasn’t the knowledge to step back and say “WHAT”?? People can be so gullible, especially the young and less sophisticated. Professionals should take care when they use these labels, for fear of giving an incorrect diagnoses, and ultimately doing more damage.

  5. Hi, my name is Ana LĂșcia and I’m from Brazil. I’m a bipolar and I’d like to receive an e-mail from David Oliver. I’d also have a very interesting experience with my disease through the years. Nowadays I live alone and I have a boyfriend who’s also got a mental problem (he deals very well with it and he works). I’m a volunteer in the Mental Area (at a specific hospital and at a two associations for helping people).
