  1. Thanks for the news today. As usual, I found the articles to be very interesting. The saddest thing about Bipolar Disorder is that so many people, especially those who who work in the medical field haven’t got a clue what it is. I went to the ER a couple of weeks back for chest pain and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Of course, if you go the ER with chest pain, you are on the priority list. I went prepared with a list of all my meds, when I take them, and what they are used to treat. The intake nurse asked me what Bipolar is!! I was amazed that anyone who works in an Emergency Room at a hospital didn’t have a clue what Bipolar is! You do a good job in helping the people on your list to understand BP and it is a shame that the whole world isn’t receiving your daily emails, especially those who work in the medical field and cops. When my daughter had her last manic episode, my husband called the Sheriff Dept to have her removed from the premises. Of course, he had no authority to do so, but the Deputy asked me what BP was when I explained to him that my daughter was having a manic episode! So clearly there are so many people out there who need education about what BP is.

  2. I would like to thank you for all the helpful information, news updates and emails. I am not sure if my husband (only 3 months now) may have Bipolar Disorder but most articles that I read remind me of his behavior. I want to talk to him about getting help or seeing a doctor but I am not sure how to go about doing this. I know that if I say anything that he will get angry and not see that I want to help him (and our relationship) not to mention myself. He will pack a bag hook up his (our) boat to his truck throw his cell phone (so I won’t be able to contact him) pitch his wedding ring (to hurt me) and drive away. I may be trying to hard to find this information out that I have just missed it, but is there any information that could help me figure out a way to mention to my husband that (I think he may have bipolar disorder) or some problem that we should consider seeking medical counseling without him leaving and not getting help at all.
As well he was diagnosed as having A-Fib (Atrial Fibrillation) is there any connection with bipolar disorder? Has there been any information or links anything that they may have some kind of connection?

  3. You report and query: “Problem Gambling Likely in Bipolar I Disorder.” Is it really Bipolar I or just bipolar disorder?

Another question arises: Is Bipolar that simple, that it can be easily defined as being Type 1 or Type 2?! Seems to me this is just a theoretical model that doesn’t stand up to real World scrutiny because some folk exhibit symptoms of both Type 1 and Type 2, some with extremes of one and mildness of the other, etc.

  4. Do you feel that people with bi-polar disease should be responsible for their actions? For instance a friend of mine has been diagnosed with bi-polar disease and is also an alocholic, she has been in and out of rehabs for the past year, and has gotten kicked out of 9, even the psyc ward of a hospital. She is a mother of four and got drunk recently and got arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, she takes no responsibilty for her actions, it is poor me look what happened last week… So my question is, should bi-polar people be responsible for their actions…

  5. Hello Mr. Oliver,

Thank you for sending your newsletter course. I have been receiving this information for the last month & have enjoyed reading about what I am going through with my son. It does help. So please know that & continue to send. Perhaps you hit a nerve with the person who sent the email saying your newsletter course was stupid. Perhaps they need it more than what they are willing to admit. At any rate, know that there are probably more people like me who will stop what they’re doing out of their busy day to pause & read what you have to say. May God continue to bless you as you help His people.
