INSURANCE COVERS LIGHT THERAPY – Folks, we use light therapy for my husband’s major depression, and our BCBS medical insurance company covered it because we had a procedure code. In the midwest, the code is E0203 (zeros, not letters). I understand that procedure codes may be different on the coasts. The doctor must write a prescription for a “full-spectrum light” that cites the procedure code. Then, we submitted a copy of the prescription to the light company, pay for the light in full, then submit the receipts and another copy of the presciption to our medical insurance for reimbursement. We have experienced significantly beneficial relief of depression symptoms using the light, particularly on overcast days year-round.
