  1. I read an article about suicide. It states that those who have attempted suicide will more likely be successful the next time if done within one year apart. I have attempted suicide at least 15 times in the last six years. I guess I am the exception to the rule.

  2. I think this is the only web site that has a great deal of “spousal support” for people living with bi-polar, if you could Dave, send me more information about it.
I am talking for my spouse who has to live with me. there are the good days and the bad days. I have been off my medication for a while now, close to a year and a half if not longer, lost track. My moods change a lot, but the thing that gets me is that I am so stressed out over everything, can’t relax, total anxiety over everything, lots of stress…just can’t and do not know how to “RELAX”, I am fearful about going back on my meds….I do not like the way they make me feel. I am a very hyperactive, out going fun person. when I on these medications, they suppress me to the point where I cannot react to hardly anything, dopey, serene kind of thing, I hate it!!
I am on Carbepanzamine (yes I have spelt it wrong), Lithium, Risperdone, Zoloft, I hate these Meds. I give up trying to find anything that works that does not make you all dopey and too damn serene here. I have a lot stress and anxiety, so I take the herbal remedies, I do not know if they are actually working or not.
But as a spouse that lives with me, it is hard on them, and I am pretty sure it is ruining our relationship, all the stress and anxiety that I am under….help Dave? any suggestions?

I hope to hear from you Dave!!!!!

  3. Dave, I read how you are able to help your mother by knowing her doctors and medications. That’s not always an option when the person is paranoid and won’t allow you to have consistant access to that information. I have noticed the more detached I try to be the more my daughter drops problems in my lap out of the blue. Once I begin gettng involved and trying to help her manage she goes along for a couple of months then shuts the door so to speak on any information I’m allowed access to. Take last winter for example. She had multiple physical and mental health issues arise, she eventually came to me and let me know some of what was going on. I went with her for 2 months to doctors and specialists. Sometime during the third month unbeknownst to me she instructed her doctor office to not release any further information to me, she had never actually signed a waiver as I was always with her and they used our phone for a contact number. When I called to find out why she had not been scheduled for a recheck and to find out the results of her biopsy the nurse was very apologetic but could not release any information. She began staying away from home again and no longer told me when her appointments were. I backed off hoping with spring things would look better for her. Now its fall again and the, “Mom I’m sick” calls have already started. I have reason to believe that she didn’t complete her courses of treatment from last year and she readily admits to going off her medications periodically for bipolar and other health issues. She has a whole bag full of reasons she pulls out one after the other. I have suggested that she give myself or someone else medical power of attorney, if for no other reason than to help keep her records as she moves around a lot. Her comment was,”Couldn’t someone use that against me?” There doesn’t seem to be anything that can be done until she is ready to allow it on a more consistant basis.
