Happy New Year and Never Forget The Bipolar Mission

Hi,

Hope you’re doing ok.

Happy New Year.

I was thinking of what my plans for the organization is for the new year.

Then I got to thinking about this email I got:

“Dave,
I hope you’re not forgetting the bipolar mission. It’s kind of like in AA. They say their message is to pass along their experience, strength and hope to other suffering alcoholics. Well, don’t you think that should be our message too, only with bipolar? Especially you, Dave.

You have the greatest bipolar mission of all, what with your website and emails and all. You can reach a lot more people thn any of us can. And you should take that seriously. God bless you and your work. Anna.”

Wow. That’s pretty strong.

I guess sometimes I have to be reminded why I do what I do. I’ve been doing it so long, you know?

And sometimes I get so caught up in people complaining, and problems at work, it’s not so easy keeping everything running so smoothly and all…

So yea, I guess sometimes I do forget the bipolar mission, like Anna said.

I’m guilty.

But we can’t ever forget the bipolar mission. It’s way too important.

We have to keep spreading the word that you’re not the only one with bipolar disorder.

Or you’re not the only supporter of a loved one with bipolar disorder.

Because sometimes it can feel that way, can’t it?

And sometimes the feelings that you have about it, well, if you feel like you’re the only one who feels the way you do, if I’m not here to tell you that it’s normal to feel that way, you might wonder about that.

That is part of the bipolar mission. That’s one of the reasons why I started my courses and systems:

So people would know that they aren’t alone.

Then I started out sending out the daily emails, too.

And I get sooooo many responses, and there are over 2000,000 people who have signed up to my mailing list!

So there are a lot of people who are listening.

There are a lot of people who need to hear what I’m telling them.

And I try my best to be encouraging, because that’s the thing I think you need to hear the most.

There’s enough bad stuff out there. All you have to do is turn on the TV or read the newspaper or listen to the news.

All kinds of bad stuff. You don’t need it from me, too.

I mean, I need to inform you, I do.

But I do want to encourage you, too.

Most of all, I want you to know that you CAN be a good supporter, and that your loved one CAN get better from bipolar disorder.

If I’ve done that, then I’ve done my job.

If I’ve done that, then I have NOT forgotten the bipolar mission.

What about you? Do you think I’m doing a good job?
