I am new to this site. I have several disorders.Bipolar, Manic depression and Post tramatic stress. My father comitted suicide. I found him in my basement .He shot himself. Put a rifle in this mouth and pulled the trigger. He was still alive when I found him but died shortly after. My brother has threatened to do so several times. I try my best to help him, but I am fighting my own demons.I see a therapist and Psyc.But sometimes it is good to talk with someone that knows about these things first hand.Thanks for the ear.Donna
Hey Donna I understand. I am dealing with a bipolar boyfriend now for 3 years we have a 7 month son together and I have 3 other children. In the past year I have dealt with my own depression. Postpardum and the death of my father on 1/2/08. I have begin to wonder if I have bipolar. I have lashed out at him because he makes me soooo ANGRY. I mean I have stabbed him with dinner forks.

Article very interesting about antidepressants. Makes me understand last episode. I hadn’t had any medication for 10 years. Then I took antidepressants and I have had a major episode. I have been misdiagnosed again. A psychiatrist told me he didn’t see any signs of Manic Depression ten
years ago. I also have a Thyroid condition. He said sometimes thyroid can cause the same symtoms.

i have biopolar and it has been hard for me to deal with things at school and at home i am in 8th grade and i am 14 years old i am on the medication called abilify and that is barly helping at all

If you are not feeling better then call your doctor and tell him you want to try something else. Don’t wait until your next appointment. You may go though several medications before you find the one that works for you. I find keeping a nightly diary of my thoughts and feeling of the day help warn me of an oncoming episode. Please be sure to have someone you talk to daily about how you are feeling. I was put on an anti-depressant at 14 for major depression, and it caused me to try to overdose. Medications at your age don’t work the same as they do in someone older. Be very aware of any suicidal thoughts and have someone you are open with to tell immediatly of the thoughts and feelings. Even if you are not ready to do it, the thoughts of it alone are enough to seek someone to listen that knows what is going on. Don’t be afraid to ask them for help with the thoughts. PLEASE be aware of all this.
