(Not hedges that you find around the house : ))<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People who don&#8217;t understand what hedge funds are always ask me if I&#8217;m a gardener : )<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anyway, one of the big things banks did that are causing them to get into big, and I mean big, trouble is that they didn&#8217;t look at the warning signs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It would be like you not looking at the warning signs of a bipolar episode, and then you or your loved one goes into an episode that could have been avoided!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But here&#8217;s a smart thing that investment companies do:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They weigh the cost against the investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And that&#8217;s a bipolar lesson that you can learn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bipolar episodes can cost you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But bipolar stability is an investment you can make.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ok, let me explain (but I think you can probably guess what I&#8217;m going to say).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cost doesn&#8217;t always mean dollars and cents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let me ask you:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How much has bipolar disorder cost you in terms of doctors, psychiatrists, and therapists?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What about hospital stays?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And medication?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even if you do have insurance, there is usually a co-pay, isn&#8217;t there?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And if you don&#8217;t have insurance, these things can almost bankrupt you!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And then there are costs that aren&#8217;t monetary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What about the cost of your relationship?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cost of losing your job?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your friendships?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your family?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your independence?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your self-confidence?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your interest in the things you justify;\">Let&#8217;s look at investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To manage bipolar disorder, you have to make an investment in your stability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to take your medication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to see your doctor, psychiatrist, and therapist when you&#8217;re supposed to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to stick to a regular sleep schedule (8-9 uninterrupted hours of sleep every night).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to eat a healthy diet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to have a strong support system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should go to a bipolar support group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have to have as little stress in your life as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You might want to practice relaxation exercises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should be productive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You might want to have a part-time job or home business, or at least volunteer somewhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You must communicate with your supporter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You must watch your triggers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You must watch for signs and symptoms of oncoming episodes, so you can avoid them from happening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That last point is really important.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All these things I listed are INVESTMENTS in your STABILITY with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But if you don&#8217;t do the last thing, you will still go into episodes, and you won&#8217;t have stability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But do you see my point?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bipolar disorder does consist of costs and investments, just like banking does.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And there&#8217;s a difference between the two, and both need to be balanced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yes, just like your checkbook.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the case of bipolar disorder, though, you want the investments to outweigh the costs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But that is up to you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How about you?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How does your bipolar &#8220;checkbook&#8221;
