Hope you have a good day<br \/>today. Thanks to everyone who wrote me<br \/>yesterday with a number of remedies<br \/>to fix a bad back.<\/p>\n<p>I tried a number of suggestions and<br \/>my back feels 10 times better.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks. Okay on to the topic<br \/>today related to bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>I have noticed, that many people on<br \/>my list have unrealistic goals,<br \/>aspirations and demands with people<br \/>who have bipolar disorder and are in<br \/>episodes or just getting out of<br \/>an episode.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking of this because I was<br \/>reviewing my emails for the last week.<\/p>\n<p>And there are a ton. I noticed there<br \/>were a number of:<\/p>\n<p>Take me off your list, my loved one<br \/>won&#8217;t listen about bipolar disorder<\/p>\n<p>I need help, how do I get my loved<br \/>one to start reading your material<\/p>\n<p>My loved one is lazy, she won&#8217;t work<br \/>any more. She has been in an episode<br \/>for a month.<\/p>\n<p>THIS ONE WAS REALLY ODD<br \/>I bought your bipolar success<br \/>course to give to my brother who<br \/>has bipolar disorder. He won&#8217;t<br \/>listen or read it. He demanded<br \/>that I send it back and get my<br \/>money. Where do I return it?<\/p>\n<p>The last comment was so strange<br \/>I had to call the person. I found<br \/>out this person bought my bipolar<br \/>success course which is for people<br \/>with bipolar disorder. The person<br \/>did not buy my bipolar supporter<br \/>course. Her plan was to give the<br \/>success course to her brother<br \/>so he could &#8220;find out about<br \/>the illness and fix himself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That was the strangest thing<br \/>I have ever heard in my life.<\/p>\n<p>You are going to give a course to<br \/>someone who is not in their right<br \/>mind and expect them to review<br \/>it. And when they say no, you<br \/>just go along with what they are<br \/>saying?<\/p>\n<p>I told the person that is truly &#8220;crazy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I said, &#8220;I don&#8217;t care about your money<br \/>but I want you to do things that make<br \/>sense.&#8221; I then asked if it made sense<br \/>for her to follow instructions from<br \/>her loved one who she said is totally<br \/>out of his mind?<\/p>\n<p>After a few minutes, she said no. I<br \/>then asked, &#8220;why didn&#8217;t you get my<br \/>bipolar supporter course instead?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She said, &#8220;I am busy and just wanted<br \/>to hand something to him and figured<br \/>since he had the illness, he should<br \/>be the one who is doing the research.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I was like H E L L O!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>Then I asked &#8220;Does that make sense<br \/>to you?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After thinking about it, she said<br \/>it didn&#8217;t and said she felt dumb<br \/>for writing me the email and dumb for<br \/>listening to her brother and dumb<br \/>for expecting her brother to have<br \/>to figure out his own illness when<br \/>he is seriously ill.<\/p>\n<p>Wow. It&#8217;s not just her others think<br \/>like this as well.<\/p>\n<p>I call it Unrealistic expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the points I wrote about earlier,<br \/>those are all unrealistic as well. You<br \/>MUST have REALISTIC expectations with<br \/>someone with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>I am going to tell you some from<br \/>my course but I can&#8217;t get in much detail<br \/>because I have to take off for the day.<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one can&#8217;t make good decisions<br \/>and probably won&#8217;t<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one can&#8217;t fix him\/herself<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one won&#8217;t drive him\/herself<br \/>to the doctor by him\/herself<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one won&#8217;t handle money well.<\/p>\n<p>You can&#8217;t expect your loved one get<br \/>get well after a major episode in a week<br \/>or two. If you listen to &#8220;my mom&#8217;s story&#8221;<br \/>in my courses, you will see how long it<br \/>takes. NOTE-We wouldn&#8217;t ask the stroke<br \/>victim to get up and start working and<br \/>call the person lazy if when he\/she couldn&#8217;t<br \/>work.<\/p>\n<p>              WARNING!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>This is with someone with bipolar disorder<br \/>that is in an episode not well and stable.<br \/>I repeat when they are in an episode NOT<br \/>well and stable.<\/p>\n<p>There are many thing you have to learn about<br \/>this illness if you are support. BUT you<br \/>have to be realistic and fair with your<br \/>loved one. You can&#8217;t make ridiculous<br \/>demands on them when they are in episodes<br \/>and not in their right mind. That&#8217;s not<br \/>fair.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t pressure them. I never did that with<br \/>my mom.
