Don&#8217;t make this big mistake with bipolar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>I must say I am dead tired today. I was at a meeting<br \/>really late last night. Anyway, today I want to<br \/>tell you something really, really important<br \/>about bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>I called someone yesterday who had ordered<br \/>one of my courses. He had filled out<br \/>my f.ree consultation form for NON<br \/>medical and NON legal questions (because<br \/>I am not a doctor, lawyer, therapist,<br \/>insurance agent, etc).<\/p>\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t read what he wrote he had<br \/>hand writing me :). I called him<br \/>to ask what he wrote so I could<br \/>take some notes and then I could<br \/>follow up with him later on after I thought<br \/>about his NON medical or NON legal question<br \/>Note-I keep writing this so you are clear<br \/>that I don&#8217;t offer this kind of advice.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, he told me and basically he said<br \/>he went through my materials from a to z<br \/>and was starting to implement what I<br \/>recommended BUT he said he didn&#8217;t know what<br \/>to do.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking, &#8220;This is great, I love<br \/>when people do well.&#8221; I asked him<br \/>what the problem was. He said that all<br \/>of his friends and many family members<br \/>said that he should divorce his<br \/>wife immediately because of all of what<br \/>she did.<br \/>I listened carefully. I asked him to<br \/>quickly explain what she had done and<br \/>give me a brief summary. She basically<br \/>has been totally out of control and cost<br \/>him a ton of money. Made him look like<br \/>a fool. Possibly cheated on him, etc.<\/p>\n<p>She did many things that my mom did<br \/>in my story at<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11\">http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So lots of bad things. I asked how long<br \/>they had been married he said not that<br \/>long. For some reason he didn&#8217;t want to<br \/>tell me the exact time so I didn&#8217;t press it.<\/p>\n<p>I then asked when was she diagnosed and he<br \/>said like a week ago. I asked how long she<br \/>knew she had bipolar disorder. He said she<br \/>still really doesn&#8217;t know. He just found<br \/>out a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>Then I remained silent and he said, and<br \/>I must laugh at the following because it&#8217;s<br \/>kind of funny, he said and I quote, &#8220;I<br \/>know you are not a doctor, lawyer, accountant,<br \/>tax person and all that stuff but I want<br \/>to know what you would do and I know that<br \/>you can&#8217;t give out legal, medical, tax,<br \/>and advice like that.&#8221; He laughed because<br \/>he said he follows my emails every day<br \/>and he thinks it&#8217;s funny how my list<br \/>of what I am not gets longer.<\/p>\n<p>I told him I was going to add this week<br \/>that I am not a dentist, and chiropractor<br \/>either.<\/p>\n<p>As a side note, when you are dealing with<br \/>supporting someone with bipolar disorder<br \/>you have to laugh some times and not<br \/>be so serious. I learned the humor<br \/>technique from my friend Stacy. Just<br \/>realize that you can laugh and don&#8217;t<br \/>have to be so serious.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, after we talked about all the<br \/>things that I am not, I said to him<br \/>that basically I would never leave someone<br \/>with bipolar disorder that just found out<br \/>and has no time to even comprehend what<br \/>they have.<\/p>\n<p>Since I am &#8220;not running for office&#8221; so to<br \/>speak, I pointed out his friends were giving<br \/>bad advice in my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>I then went on to tell him how much bad advice<br \/>I got from many of my friends about my mom.<\/p>\n<p>All my friends basically told me to let<br \/>my mom go homeless.<\/p>\n<p>The guy said that he felt that what I was<br \/>saying was right but he just needed some<br \/>confirmation from someone and that he<br \/>was excited to help his wife. He felt<br \/>that the material in my bipolar supporter<br \/>course would help him find a great<br \/>doctor and get his wife back on track.<\/p>\n<p>We hung up and then I had to go eat<br \/>my burnt lunch that I made myself.<\/p>\n<p>I wish someone would make a how to<br \/>cook if you have no idea how to cook<br \/>course which I would buy right away.<\/p>\n<p>BIG BIPOLAR DISORDER WARNING!!!<\/p>\n<p>Beware of friends advice. Many friends<br \/>love to give advice when it comes to<br \/>bipolar disorder and they have no clue.<\/p>\n<p>I am not sure why this is. I find<br \/>that many friends look for quick<br \/>solutions to bipolar disorder. The quickest<br \/>solution is to not to deal with the person<br \/>ever<\/p>\n<p>You have to be careful who you are getting<br \/>your advice from. Be careful of friends.<br \/>Many times friends are sincere but sincerely<br \/>wrong. They just don&#8217;t know. They don&#8217;t<br \/>want you to suffer as a supporter of<br \/>someone with bipolar disorder so they<br \/>look for a quick fix. The quick fix<br \/>is to walk away from the person.<\/p>\n<p>I have also heard many other stories<br \/>of people getting advice from friends<br \/>that is really disturbing. Too disturbing<br \/>to write about.<\/p>\n<p>One of the things that I did when I put<br \/>together my courses\/system was to find<br \/>people who really have bipolar disorder<br \/>and are successful OR people who really<br \/>do support people with bipolar disorder<br \/>well. I wanted to hear about real strategies<br \/>and techniques not theory.<\/p>\n<p>Just be careful. Even if you hear something<br \/>from me. Think about it. Talk to people<br \/>about it. See if it make sense. Always<br \/>think about what you hear. Don&#8217;t just<br \/>run with what any old person says.<\/p>\n<p>Well that&#8217;s what I have to say today.<\/p>\n<p>I have to take off.
