I am not sure.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe she is running late. So I had to type<br \/>up this daily bipolar email instead.<\/p>\n<p>You might get the news tomorrow or Sunday<br \/>I am not sure.<\/p>\n<p>Sorry if this messed up your schedule.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been really tough to keep track of<br \/>this ever expanding organization. <\/p>\n<p>I actually spoke to some really smart people<br \/>yesterday who gave me some great ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately soon, I am going to be hiring an<br \/>operations\/admin person. I don\u2019t just want<br \/>any old person but someone who I can<br \/>really work with and trust. I will send more<br \/>details later on this coming week.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, you know, I&#8217;ve talked in the<br \/>past about stigma, and the <br \/>problem that people who have<br \/>bipolar disorder have with people<br \/>who stigmatize them, or pre-<br \/>judge them without knowing<br \/>them.<\/p>\n<p>People who have bipolar disorder<br \/>get mad at those people who<br \/>pre-judge , or stigmatize them.<\/p>\n<p>Well, good old Webster in his<br \/>dictionary defines prejudice as<br \/>&#8220;preconceived judgment or opinion&#8221;<br \/>or &#8220;an irrational attitude of<br \/>hostility directed against an<br \/>individual, a group, a race, or<br \/>their supposed characteristics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wow!  I sure don&#8217;t want to be<br \/>accused of being prejudiced<br \/>against anyone if it means<br \/>that, do you?  I mean the<br \/>attitude of hostility part.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it actually says an<br \/>irrational attitude of<br \/>hostility.  I don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s<br \/>any of us.  <\/p>\n<p>In fact, I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s really<br \/>true of those people who are<br \/>prejudiced against those<br \/>who have bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>I think, really, that they fall<br \/>into the category of <br \/>&#8220;preconceived judgment or<br \/>opinion.&#8221;  Don&#8217;t you agree?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s like me saying, &#8220;Just give<br \/>me a little time \u2013 I&#8217;ll grow on<br \/>you!&#8221; J<\/p>\n<p>But seriously, what I wanted<br \/>to bring out is that it&#8217;s not just<br \/>that other people are prejudiced<br \/>against people who have bipolar<br \/>disorder, it&#8217;s also that people<br \/>with bipolar and their loved ones<br \/>sometimes get just as prejudiced<br \/>against doctors, therapists and<br \/> mental health workers and assume<br \/> they are bad. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve tried to address this problem<br \/>in my courses\/systems, where I<br \/>talk about the problem of good and<br \/>bad doctors, and teach you how to<br \/>find a good doctor or therapist:<\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11\">http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING A CHILD\/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com\">http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net\">http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But I really encourage you not to<br \/>pre-judge your doctor or therapist.<br \/>Yes, there are some bad doctors and<br \/>therapists and psychiatrists out there,<br \/>but there are also some good ones.<\/p>\n<p>I would encourage you not to<br \/>judge yours on, say, just one<br \/>visit.  You may have just caught<br \/>him on a bad day or something.<\/p>\n<p>You know how bad it feels to be<br \/>pre-judged.
