A bunch<br \/>of things came up today. <\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the other day I was talking to someone who<br \/>works for me about Michele who works for me.<\/p>\n<p>Michele has a list BEFORE she goes to<br \/>the doctor. <\/p>\n<p>Lt&#8217;s talk about the list.  This is<br \/>something I think everyone should<br \/>do, and I talk about it in some of my<br \/>courses and systems, since I think it<br \/>really helps when you have to see<br \/>your doctor:<\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11\">http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING A CHILD\/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com\">http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?<br \/>Visit:<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net\">http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You know how sometimes when you<br \/>have to see your doctor, and he\/she<br \/>asks you how you&#8217;ve been, or what&#8217;s<br \/>wrong, why you&#8217;re there, how long<br \/>you&#8217;ve been feeling like this, etc.?<\/p>\n<p>And you freeze up, or just can&#8217;t<br \/>remember dates, or whatever?<\/p>\n<p>And then you get embarrassed, and<br \/>the doctor is looking at you for t his<br \/>information, and he can&#8217;t really treat<br \/>you without this information, because<br \/>he really does need to know how long<br \/>this condition has been going on, but<br \/>you can&#8217;t remember\u2026 and now you&#8217;re<br \/>really stressing out\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Well, you know what I&#8217;m talking<br \/>About, don&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s awful!  And it happens to a lot<br \/>of us, bipolar or not.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Michele came up with this<br \/>Idea for a list.<\/p>\n<p>You make up this list before you<br \/>have to see the doctor.  Actually,<br \/>she starts hers way before she<br \/>sees the doctor \u2013 she starts it and<br \/>starts tracking things as soon as<br \/> her problem or condition starts<br \/>happening.<\/p>\n<p>She told me I could say this, even<br \/>though it&#8217;s embarrassing, but an<br \/>example of this is that she has<br \/>problems with constipation.  She<br \/>said it was ok for me to say this<br \/>because it&#8217;s a common problem<br \/>with people who are taking<br \/>medication for their bipolar<br \/>disorder.  <\/p>\n<p>And sometimes it is really,<br \/>really bad, and goes on for<br \/>days at a time.  And sometimes<br \/>it gets so bad that you have to go<br \/>to the doctor for it.  And the first<br \/>thing the doctor is going to ask is<br \/>when the problem started.<\/p>\n<p>And you can never remember <br \/>when.   So she always writes down<br \/>the day it started, so she can tell her<br \/>doctor.  She writes down everything<br \/>she tried on her own to help stop<br \/>the constipation, and the day she<br \/>tried those remedies as well, so she<br \/>can tell the doctor that.<\/p>\n<p>And all this goes on her list, and she<br \/>can just show it to the doctor, so <br \/>she doesn&#8217;t get so embarrassed<br \/>having to tell the doctor all this<br \/>information and having to try<br \/>to remember all the dates and<br \/>everything, especially because<br \/>constipation itself is such an<br \/>embarrassing condition (but so<br \/>common for people who have<br \/>bipolar disorder).<\/p>\n<p>Anything else that is important<br \/>for her to tell her doctor, Michele<br \/>also puts on her list.   This way,<br \/>her attitude when she sees her<br \/>doctor is more confident.<\/p>\n<p>Everything her doctor will want<br \/> to know, like a list of the <br \/>medications she is currently on,<br \/> with names of the medications, <br \/>dosages, and when she takes them.<\/p>\n<p>Also, any other problems or<br \/>conditions you are concerned<br \/>about would go on this list.  Any<br \/>questions you might have about<br \/>anything, especially things you might<br \/>forget before you get to your<br \/>appointment.<\/p>\n<p>This way, you just hand your doctor<br \/>your list and he\/she can go down<br \/>your list and address all your<br \/>concerns.<\/p>\n<p>This is also how you can tell a good<br \/>Doctor from a bad doctor.  A good<br \/>doctor will be willing to go over your<br \/>list with you and will appreciate the<br \/>fact that you even have a list.<\/p>\n<p>A bad doctor will act as if you are<br \/>bothering him\/her and taking up<br \/>their time, as they have more<br \/>patients to see and this will take up<br \/>too much of their time.<\/p>\n<p>But try Michele&#8217;s method \u2013<br \/>it works for her, see if it works<br \/>for you!
