text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Does yesterday help with today when you&#8217;re dealing with bipolar disorder?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Another question:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Does tomorrow help with today when you&#8217;re dealing with bipolar disorder?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">NO.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>To both questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn&#8217;t here yet.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>The only day you have is today, and the only thing that&#8217;s important is what you do with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">If your loved one is in therapy (and, hopefully, they are), they should be learning this concept. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">So it&#8217;s important that you learn it too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">It&#8217;s called &#8220;mindfulness&#8221; \u2013 being &#8220;in the moment.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">In 12-Step Programs, they call it living &#8220;One Day at a Time&#8221; \u2013 you may already be familiar with this concept.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Living with someone who has bipolar disorder is a very hard thing to do (as you know).<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>Being their supporter, you have some very hard issues to deal with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">One of those issues is that your loved one may tend to live in the past, which, as you know, is no good for<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> either of you.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">It&#8217;s an issue they should be dealing with in therapy,<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> but one which they may or may not be doing.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">And, even if they are, they may be taking it out on you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">You should be dealing with what&#8217;s happening now and your thoughts and feelings about it, and how to deal with negative thoughts and feelings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Now, that&#8217;s a pretty hard thing to do if you&#8217;re still in yesterday, or worrying about tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The way to do it is to let go of yesterday.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>I know,<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> easier said than done.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">You&#8217;re probably still angry about things your<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span>loved one said or did that made you angry,<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> frustrated, or hurt when they were in their last episode.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span>But you have to let that go.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span>It doesn&#8217;t help you to deal with today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">In my courses\/systems, I talk about the One Day at a Time ideal, or living in the moment, not living in the past or worrying about the future:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; worse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Just concentrate on what you have to deal<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> with today.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Separate yourself from your loved one&#8217;s disorder. And separate your loved one from their disorder. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Actually I was volunteering and a speaker said some things that are good for this message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;
