Lesson from Some Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>How are you doing today?<\/p>\n<p>I hope you&#8217;re doing good.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking about something today.<\/p>\n<p>About water.<\/p>\n<p>And about its three states:<\/p>\n<p>4.\tliquid (to drink)<\/p>\n<p>5.\tsolid (ice cubes)<\/p>\n<p>6.\tvapor (steam).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about how far my physics knowledge of it goes, but it made me think of bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Bipolar disorder also has three states:<\/p>\n<p>4.\tDepression<\/p>\n<p>5.\tMania<\/p>\n<p>6.\tNormal<\/p>\n<p>Whether you like your water to drink or for ice cubes, you do have a preference.<\/p>\n<p>Just like you and your loved one both have the bipolar preference of the normal state.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s not always easy to go with what you prefer.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you have to do things the hard way.<\/p>\n<p>There is no disputing that getting stable is hard work.<\/p>\n<p>You just can&#8217;t lay back and expect it to fall in your lap.<\/p>\n<p>So there are certain things you do to get you there.<\/p>\n<p>For you, it&#8217;s being a good supporter and a good example to your loved one.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s being encouraging to them and rejoicing with them during normal periods.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also sticking with them through their bipolar episodes and staying by their side.<\/p>\n<p>For your loved one, stability can mean having to change their lifestyle, like I talk about<\/p>\n<p>in my courses\/systems:<\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11\">http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING A CHILD\/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com\">http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net\">http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stability is not just going to drop in your loved one&#8217;s lap.<\/p>\n<p>They have to work to get it.<\/p>\n<p>But once they do, you&#8217;ll both enjoy less episodes and more normal periods.<\/p>\n<p>Like the 3 states of water and the 3 states of bipolar disorder, let&#8217;s consider the 3 biggest things on the list for getting stable:<\/p>\n<p>4.\tMedication<\/p>\n<p>5.\tHealthy diet and exercise<\/p>\n<p>6.\tSleep<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take medication, for example.<\/p>\n<p>If given a choice, I know that your loved one would rather not have to take all that medication.<\/p>\n<p>They do have a choice, but there is only one RIGHT choice.<\/p>\n<p>So they have to adjust their lifestyle to accommodate having to take medication for their bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, now let&#8217;s look at diet and exercise.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not talking some crash diet or using pills to lose weight.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m talking about a lifestyle change.<\/p>\n<p>Eating a healthy diet.<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one should eat a healthy diet so they can be as physically fit as they are trying to be mentally fit.<\/p>\n<p>Same goes for exercising, only with exercising you get a bonus:<\/p>\n<p>Exercising activates the endorphins in your brain and give you a kind of &#8220;high&#8221; feeling \u2013 it makes you feel better.<\/p>\n<p>Now let&#8217;s talk about sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Your loved one should be getting 8-9 uninterrupted hours of sleep at night.<\/p>\n<p>They should also go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time every day.<\/p>\n<p>If they lose sleep, it can be a trigger to a bipolar manic episode.<\/p>\n<p>Too much sleep can indicate a bipolar depressive episode.<\/p>\n<p>So good sleep habits are very important to the stability of your loved one.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, your loved one is doing &#8220;best practices&#8221; (the 1,2,3 I just talked about).<\/p>\n<p>If they are, you can look forward to some good stability.<\/p>\n<p>How is your loved one doing?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>How are you doing today?<\/p>\n<p>I hope you&#8217;re doing good.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking about something today.<\/p>\n<p>About water.<\/p>\n<p>And about its three states:<\/p>\n<p>4.\tliquid (to drink)<\/p>\n<p>5.\tsolid (ice cubes)<\/p>\n<p>6.\tvapor (steam).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about how far my physics knowledge of it goes, but it made me think of bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>Bipolar disorder also has three states:<\/p>\n<p>4.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/bipolarsupporterblog\/bipolar-lesson-from-some-water\/\" class=\"more-link pull-right\" rel=\"bookmark\">Continue Reading<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Bipolar?
