{"id":1905,"date":"2009-06-25T09:34:47","date_gmt":"2009-06-25T13:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bipolarcentral.com\/bipolarsupporterblog\/?p=1905"},"modified":"2009-06-25T09:34:47","modified_gmt":"2009-06-25T13:34:47","slug":"bipolar-disorder-and-ways-to-deal-with-stress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/bipolarsupporterblog\/bipolar-disorder-and-ways-to-deal-with-stress\/","title":{"rendered":"Bipolar Disorder And Ways To Deal With Stress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>How&#8217;s it going?<\/p>\n<p>Today I want to talk to both people with bipolar disorder and the people who support them.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are a bipolar supporter or survivor you have to watch your stress levels.<\/p>\n<p>For the person with bipolar disorder, stress can become a trigger that leads to a bipolar episode.<\/p>\n<p>AND it\u2019s VERY unhealthy to have too much stress in your life.<\/p>\n<p>For the supporter of a loved one with bipolar disorder, you don\u2019t have to worry about going into a bipolar episode, but you do have to worry about stress destroying your overall physical and emotional health.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, when you are supporting someone with bipolar disorder, you can tend to let your stress get out of control.  And if you don&#8217;t take care of yourself first, you won&#8217;t be able to take<\/p>\n<p>care of your loved one.<\/p>\n<p>There are some good ways to reduce the stress in your life, whether you have bipolar disorder, or are supporting someone who does.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some good stress prevention or reduction techniques:<\/p>\n<p>1.\tBuy or borrow a book on how<\/p>\n<p>to reduce stress.  This may sound<\/p>\n<p>strange, but they have entire books<\/p>\n<p>devoted to this serious problem.<\/p>\n<p>2.\tJust breathe. This sounds too simple<\/p>\n<p>to work, I know.  But breathing in<\/p>\n<p>and out slowly reduces stress and<\/p>\n<p>besides, it\u2019s f.ree.<\/p>\n<p>3.\tLaugh and smile. Talk to people who<\/p>\n<p>are goofy. Go look at funny things.<\/p>\n<p>Watch funny TV shows. Do something<\/p>\n<p>to laugh.  It&#8217;s been proven that humor<\/p>\n<p>has healthy qualities to it, and can<\/p>\n<p>reduce a person&#8217;s stress..<\/p>\n<p>4.\tFocus on the positive and only glance<\/p>\n<p>at the negative.  This is one of the things<\/p>\n<p>I talk about in my courses\/systems below:<\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING AN ADULT WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11\">http:\/\/www.bipolarsupporter.com\/report11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>SUPPORTING A CHILD\/TEEN WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com\">http:\/\/www.bipolarparenting.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?<\/p>\n<p>Visit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net\">http:\/\/www.survivebipolar.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Having a positive attitude is so very important to de-stressing your life, or at least bringing<\/p>\n<p>your problems down to a manageable level.<\/p>\n<p>My friend has a saying that she keeps taped to her computer that she looks at whenever she<\/p>\n<p>gets stressed.<\/p>\n<p>It says, &#8220;When I stopped living in the problem and began living in the answer, the problem went away\u2026Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Positive affirmations like that are another way to keep your stress levels down.<\/p>\n<p>Just tell yourself that you can do it.<\/p>\n<p>That you can make it.<\/p>\n<p>That you don&#8217;t need this stress in your life.<\/p>\n<p>That you will conquer this stress.<\/p>\n<p>That you will be a calmer person.<\/p>\n<p>That you will be more positive.<\/p>\n<p>These are all positive affirmations, and they will work on your stress.
