There’s an interesting thing with bipolar disorder.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s about medication.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Too many people think they can manage it themselves, without their doctors (psychiatrists).<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They want to take less medication, or they want to take more medication.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Taking less medication is like wearing a size 10 shoe when you really need a size 12 shoe!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You can see how silly that would be. <\/span>You wouldn’t do that, would you?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So you really can’t let your loved one mess around with their medication, either.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If they’re having problems with their medication, they really need to talk to their doctor about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They can’t just decide to mess around with it themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That’s like I said above, like buying the wrong size shoe, or the wrong size clothes.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In my courses\/systems below, I talk about how important taking your medication is, and in the right amounts, the right dosages, what to do if you feel that there’s something wrong with your medication, etc. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But I always say to check with your doctor if you feel there’s something wrong with the medication you’re taking.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s not like there’s nothing you can do if you’re unhappy with your medication, it’s side effects, the way you’re feeling or behaving, or whatever.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can always talk to your doctor about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you don’t trust your doctor, you need to get another doctor.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But messing around with your own medication is very, very dangerous.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you don’t take enough, you could go into an episode.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you take too much, you could DIE \u2013 you could have an overdose!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you don’t like the way your medication makes you feel, you can tell your doctor, and they can change your medication. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They can change your dosage of the medication you’re on. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They can change when you take your medication.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They can do several things that maybe you haven’t even thought about.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But just don’t \u2013 DO NOT \u2013 mess with your own medication by yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n
