Hi,<\/p>\n

How’s it going?<\/p>\n

I just can’t believe the weather.<\/p>\n

Just take a look at it these days.<\/p>\n

One day it’s nice, and the next day, well…<\/p>\n

The sun could be shining…<\/p>\n

It could be snowing…<\/p>\n

Last week it was icy…<\/p>\n

It could be raining…<\/p>\n

There could even be thunderstorms…<\/p>\n

(especially if you’ve planned to do something outside)<\/p>\n

No matter what the weatherman has predicted!<\/p>\n

You just can’t predict the weather, can you?<\/p>\n

No more than the weatherman can, apparently.<\/p>\n

Which brings me to bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n

Being a supporter to a loved one with bipolar disorder, you know what I’m talking about.<\/p>\n

You just can’t predict their moods.<\/p>\n

They may go on for a long time, even months and months, being in a normal mood…<\/p>\n

Then all of a sudden, there’s a mood change.<\/p>\n

They might become depressed.<\/p>\n

Or they might become extremely (overly) happy.<\/p>\n

And either mood out of the blue, for no reason at all.<\/p>\n

Not because of anything happening in their lives necessarily, but because of the bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n

That’s one of the biggest characteristics of the disorder – the mood swings, and the unpredictability of them.<\/p>\n

That’s why I warn you to watch for the signs and symptoms of bipolar disorder in my courses\/systems below:<\/p>\n

HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER?

\nEven if you know the signs and symptoms of an episode, you still can’t predict your loved one’s moods, any more than you can predict the weather.<\/p>\n

And that can be pretty frustrating, can’t it?<\/p>\n

So what can you do about it?<\/p>\n

Well, you can hope that they wouldn’t change their moods…<\/p>\n

But that isn’t realistic, because they do have bipolar disorder after all.<\/p>\n

And bipolar disorder comes with mood swings, and your loved one can’t help it.<\/p>\n

So you have to expect these changes in mood from time to time.<\/p>\n

But you can be prepared for it.<\/p>\n

That’s one thing you can do.<\/p>\n

Know that your loved one can switch moods at any time.<\/p>\n

They have in the past, and they will again.<\/p>\n

So be prepared.<\/p>\n

Another thing you can do is:<\/p>\n

Be consistent.<\/p>\n

No matter what mood your loved one is in, it doesn’t have to affect your own mood.<\/p>\n

You are not the one with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n

Your mood does not have to change just because your loved one gets depressed or manic.<\/p>\n

You can also be knowledgeable.<\/p>\n

Learn as much as you can about bipolar mood changes.<\/p>\n

There is always new information coming out about bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n

Read, research, talk to your loved one’s doctor, talk to other supporters.<\/p>\n

You can be patient, too.<\/p>\n

You know the saying, “This too shall pass”?<\/p>\n

Well, you know that in the past your loved one has changed moods on you.<\/p>\n

What did you do then?<\/p>\n

You probably just waited it out.<\/p>\n

So be patient, and they will probably go back to their normal mood soon.<\/p>\n

And the last thing you can do is to make sure you take care of yourself.<\/p>\n

Don’t let your loved one’s change of moods affect you.<\/p>\n

Make sure you are still taking care of yourself and your own needs.<\/p>\n
