I was talking to this woman the other day, who looked sooo sad!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So I asked her what was wrong, and she said, “EVERYTHING.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I said,” Everything?” <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And she said, “Yes, everything!”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So I asked her, “Are you feeing all right?”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She answered, “Yes, pretty much.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I said, “Do you have children?”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And she said, “Yes, I have 2 of them.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I asked, “Are they healthy and happy?”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She said, “Why, yes they are.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I said, “Do you have a car, and does it run well?”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She said, “Yes, and I don’t have any problems with my car.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So I said (and don’t get mad at me like she did), “So not EVERYTHING is wrong, is it?”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And, you guessed it, she got really mad at me.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But here’s my point. <\/span>You can’t just lump your problems under “EVERYTHING.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It doesn’t work that way.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, so what IS your problem? <\/span>You already know it <\/span>is not EVERYTHING. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pick ONE problem. Let’s just work on ONE problem..<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, now let’s work on the solution (you know I am a solution-oriented person).<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Start a list. <\/span>Really! <\/span>Take out a piece of paper and a pencil or pen, and start a list.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Write down the problem at the top of the piece of paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Problem not that important? <\/span>Then it’s easy to solve, and you can take care of it without this system.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But if it’s bigger than that, this system will work for you. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, back to your piece of paper with your problem written at the top. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You’re ready to start writing your solutions down now.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. <\/span>He doesn’t know anything about my life or my problems.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You’re right. <\/span>I don’t. <\/span>But I do know a lot about bipolar disorder. <\/span>And I do know I spent a LONG time developing systems that work. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And this system does work. <\/span>I still use it myself (and I’m a supporter, just like you).<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Think of the most impossible way you can to solve your problem. <\/span>The “no way this will solve my problem” solution.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As a friend of mine says, “The impossible just takes a little longer!”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then work down from there, until you find the right solution to your problem. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It works, trust me!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

EVERYBODY HAS PROBLEMS!!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

You’re not the only one! <\/span>Supporters of loved ones with bipolar disorder seem to have more problems than anyone else, too.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But not EVERYTHING is wrong, is it?<\/span><\/p>\n

There have to be SOME things that are right!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So here’s my advice:<\/span><\/p>\n

Be grateful for the things that are going right, and work “Dave’s Problem Solving System” I showed you in this email on your other problems.<\/span><\/p>\n
