=>PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES <=\n\nHi,\n\nI hope you're having a good day.\n\nSomeone asked me yesterday how I\ncan keep coming up with ideas for\nthese emails.\n\nHa ha. Good question.\n\nIt\u2019s not the easiest thing in the world\nbut I really work hard at it and put\na lot of time into it.\n\nYesterday another person asked me\nwhy there were a few people attacking\nme and excusing me on very strange things.\n\nMany people have asked me this. You have\nto remember that a small percentage of people\nwith bipolar disorder are not well\nand are out of their mind.\n\nIf you have been on my list for a while, you might\nremember when I had a rash of people saying\nthat I did all kinds of things.\n\nOne person in California said that I broke into their\nhouse and stole their \u201ctools.\u201d They demanded\nthat I send them money for compensation.\n\nAnother in Canada said I stole their car and demanded\na new one.\n\nAnother person said I was working with \u201cgovernment\nagencies\u201d to \u201cput them away for life.\u201d\n\nThese people are obviously ill and need treatment.\nI simply don\u2019t take it personally like I teach you if\nyou are a bipolar supporter and your loved one\ngoes into an episode and says \u201ccrazy\u201d things.\n\nI have a story to tell you today.\n\nI have been in a 4 year battle with this\nsoftware company that handles a bunch \nof our CRM stuff.\n\nCRM is customer relation management.\n\nAnyway, this software does not collect\nany sales tax for people who live in New \nJersey, so this means that for 4 years, I \nhave had to pay the sales tax for anyone \nwho orders anything from me.\n\nIsn't that crazy?\n\nSo a few weeks ago, I got really, really,\nreally mad and decided to declare war \non them.\n\nI called in and demanded to talk to \nexecutives, and I did. Most didn't care, \nthough. They even blamed it on me, \nwhich is a joke, how is it my fault?\n\nThey also told me it would be fixed \nright away. Then other people there\ntold me it would be done sometime \nin the future.\n\nFinally I kept calling in and asking \nfor people's bosses and I found out who \none of the top people was. Her name \nwas JoAnne.\n\nI left her a message. No return call. \nThen I decided to use the \"fill it up\" \nstrategy I teach in mental health when \nsomeone won't return your call.\n\nI left a TON of voicemails over a few \ndays. So many that she HAD to return \nmy call.\n\nWhen she called back I was prepared. \nI had an outline.\n\nI told her how 4 years ago this was a \nproblem. I was promised by like 15 \npeople that it would be fixed. I told\nthem I was lied to year after year and \nI am having to pay the sales tax for\npeople in New Jersey.\n\nI told her how they have horrible \ncustomer service.\n\nI did ALL the talking and made sure \nto say things that would counter any \nexcuses she may have to defend the\ncompany.\n\nI told her I knew a ton of users and that \nI was going to start calling them and \ngetting them to complain.\n\nI went on and on and said I was going \nto keep on calling and might even send \nan email to my entire list of people to \nget them to complain, too.\n\nImmediately she apologized and said that\nshe was going to get this fixed. I told her \nthat 15 other people said that over 4 years. \nShe said again that she would get this fixed.\n\nShe asked to call me back and I told her \nif she didn't, she would have 1000 \nvoicemails \ud83d\ude42\n\nI was really mad.\n\nSo anyway, she called me back the next day \nand said it's now being looked at and they \nare determining how long it will take.\n\nThen two days later, fixing the problem \nhad started!\n\nCan you believe it?\n\nI thanked her. If you have been around the mental health
\nblock you know what I mean.<\/p>\n

But if you are persistent, you can get what
\nyou need.<\/p>\n

Look what happened to me.<\/p>\n

Now, I admit, it took me a long time (and
\na lot of phone calls), and some research on
\nmy part to find the right person who could
\nreally help me, but finally I got the help I
\nneeded.<\/p>\n

If you’re having trouble with an organization,
\nyou need to do what I did, and find a JoAnne
\nin that organization.<\/p>\n

Or, like say you’re having trouble getting
\nthe medications that you need. With some
\npersistence on your part, you can do it. <\/p>\n

There are ways, like you can call the drug
\nmanufacturer of your medication and see
\nif they’ll pay for your bipolar medication \u2013
\nbe persistent until you get to talk to the right
\nperson.<\/p>\n

Or you can see if your doctor will give you
\nfree samples of medication. Now, you don’t ask
\nthe receptionist for this. Being persistent is
\nfinding the right person, right? So you might
\nask the nurse. Then wait. But she might not
\nbe the right person. <\/p>\n

You might have to make several phone calls and
\nleave a lot of messages, like I did, but stay
\npersistent. You might have to go to the
\ndoctor themselves. But by staying persistent,
\nyou’ll get the help you need.<\/p>\n

Or, if you need to save money to afford
\nyour medication or your doctor or therapist,
\nbecause your insurance won’t pay for it
\nor your doctor or therapist visits, try to
\nget your doctor or therapist visits on a
\nsliding scale. <\/p>\n

Say you have to talk to the receptionist
\nfirst. Well, she won’t help you. Be
\npersistent, and find the right person who
\ncan help you. It might be the bookkeeper.
\nIt might have to be the doctor or therapist
\nthemselves. Again, you might have to make
\nseveral phone calls. But stay persistent.<\/p>\n

Do like I did. I finally got what I wanted.<\/p>\n
