David Oliver offers bipolar support, called f#$king a#$hole

Hey,

You’re going to laugh today. I just was called a
f#$king a#$hole. I took out some characters but
I am sure you know what those two words are.

Before I tell you that story, I have to tell you
this one.

The other day I sent an email
titled Lies, Lies, Lies and Bipolar Disorder. I had
almost 1000 responses to this email.

The email talked about the idea that people who
have bipolar disorder can lie when they are not
stable.

To see a copy of this email keep reading to find
out how.

Yesterday I was meeting up with a prominent psychiatrist
and also going to volunteer.

First let me tell you, the volunteering went really
long. I got home at like 11:30.

I even got pulled over by the police which annoyed me
until I saw it was my friend Bill who I use to train
with at a gym.

Well back to the email I sent, I said that I was going to
ask this really expensive $600 or $650 a hour doctor
WHY someone lies in a bipolar episode.

Last night I got my chance. I asked that question to
the doctor. This guy has been in practice since like 1960
and he is like a walking book. He is almost in
practice in NYC.

He gave a very complicated answer as to
why people may lie when they are in a bipolar
episode.

To make a long complicated answer short, based on my
understanding, it’s because bipolar disorder is a
mood disorder. When a person is not stable they can
be “psychotic” and enter a state of psychosis (which
are hard words to spell…good thing I have spell check).

During these times, a person’s beliefs can become altered
and cause them to not perceive things correctly, or interpret
what’s being said or not said about them wrong which causes them
to respond saying things that aren’t true which ultimately
turns into a lie.

I hope that makes sense.

On another note. You know how in my course at

http://www.bipolarsupporter.com/report11

I harp on how to find a doctor. Well it’s really strange. When
I volunteer, the only thing people want to know is all centered
around medication. Nobody asks stuff like

How to find a doctor
How to find a therapist
How for pay for these people
How to get a loved one into treatment
How to find a great job for someone with bipolar disorder
OR someone who is a supporter who needs a flexible schedule
How to handle a loved one’s mood swings easily
What to do if a loved one gets into a ton of debt

There are so many other important things that I could make a list
that is 6 pages long.

When ever and where ever I go to volunteer, people always ask the same
set of questions for the most part. It’s all around medication. No one
asks the really important questions, like what I just listed out.

I just don’t get why people are focused on what
I think is the wrong stuff.

Trying to learn about medication in a meeting doesn’t make any
sense to me. I just don’t get it.

Also, since I have been volunteering in three groups for 2 years,
I see certain patterns develop. Want to know what they are?

=> Only 1 person has been to three meetings in a row
=> There are virtually no high functioning people with bipolar disorder
at these meetings.
=> Those that are high functioning every now and then get turned off
because they feel so many people are negative

=> People take lots of f.r.e.e information that I am sure they aren’t
going to use. How do I know? Well if you take 5 to 10 of the same
thing, I am sure you aren’t going to read it.

That brings me to the email I just got. Mary wrote me:

“David you suck!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter has bipolar disorder.
I click on your site and you are selling your information.
I can’t believe you. What kind of person are you. Your mother must
be ashamed your evil ways. If you even have a mother. You probably
don’t because you are a liar. If you really cared, you should share your
information freely. But it probably sucks like you do. Take me off your
list f#$king a#$hole.”

I took out some characters with those two words to keep this family
friendly. I am sure you know what two words she called me.

I am going to practice what I preach is not respond to this email. I
of course removed her. But I wonder if she is so smart why she can’t
remove herself. But that’s another story.

Do you want to know something? I have give my course materials to 7 people
totally f.r.e.e and guess how many have gone through it? ZERO. One friend
has had it on his shelf for 1.5 years. He told me he is going to get it to it.

This is why when I get the ridiculous emails that say “If you really
cared you would share all your information for f.r.e.e.”

When I get these, I am like “HELLO? Is anyone home?” I
have a emini course and tips that cost me THOUSANDS of dollars
to create. There is NO cost to this.

I have over 1000 pages of information on my article website that has cost
me a fortune to put together. Again no cost. I have more info that is no
cost than any other site online. Period. But can I really send manuals,
check lists, worksheets, reports, a set of 10 cds, etc. to someone
for f.r.e.e?

With my material however, I offer it with a guarantee and if you send
anything back, I even let you keep some stuff for giving it a try. This
way you come out ahead. I mean could you ask for anything else?

And for those that say I can and should, let’s say I gave it all away for no cost, how would I pay all the doctors, therapists, writers, programmers, graphic designers, book keeper, accountant, hosting frees, marketing person, advertising, consultants, shipping, customer services, phone lines, etc. etc.?

I have already sunk a ton of my own money into this. And some people want
everything for nothing.

Anyone who really does any kind of thinking knows that even if I gave
it all away, people wouldn’t even go through it.

I just look at the three groups I volunteer at. I am the “literature
giver out person.” Because there is no cost, we run out, in minutes,
of everything and people don’t even take what they get seriously.

Just think about the spoiled kid or the person you knew who got
everything handed to them on a silver plate. Remember that person?
They didn’t do to well. Because when people get something for nothing
they do NOT value it for the most part.

Sadly where I volunteer, guess what? 99% of the time we don’t have a full supply of material because people take so much and there’s not enough money to get more of it.

This past year, I had to buy all the stuff to house the literature
and I had to pay someone to organize it because all the other volunteers
quit.

The give it all away model would make no sense.

Anyway, sorry for the rant today but I just had to say it. Some
people write me thing that have no clue how to run an organization.

Hey I have to take off. If you want to respond to my email or write
Mary a note, please do so here:
